Deciding if I should follow my boyfriend to UPT
disgruntledemployee replied to keallyn's topic in Military Spouses
If he's the one, go. Family first is not just a motto, its a happy way of life. If you can't make this decision on a snap, then maybe he's not the one. What I'm saying is that you should already know the answer and depending on an internet forum for advice will lead you to apply to places like Vivid (see post 4). Now go pack your bags. -
Did any of these ACs call home, explain the situation, offer a plan, and get some cover? That's the way the AF wants it. We are not supposed to make our own decisions anymore. I like to get my decisions made very high, usually 1 or stars is my target. That way I can justify all the generals we have. Anyway... Play like a cowboy, sometimes you swagger away, sometimes you get shot between the eyes. Out

What is a rouge Santa Claus? Is that some new form of red jacket/pants combo? Anyway, to the student poster that started this, AFPC will now give your base all the leftovers. Or perhaps you Sq/Gp CCs will asked for lots of RPAs so that they can make an OPR bullet out it. I also heard that Laughlin gets better planes because their flying is harder. But Vance blows, so to make them feel better, then get good planes too. I guess you all get leftovers. Oh well. Out

Time to abolish the Air Force?
disgruntledemployee replied to hobbitcid's topic in General Discussion
I believe the second "O" now stands for "over react." Out -
You will likely need to renounce as I've seen it in the past. Check with the security clearance people, but you will likely need to turn in your UK passport. You may also need documentation that this was done. Out

Remember, that is part of the problem in the AF. Although, ol liquid will say it's just me they don't trust. Out

Bolling had (when I was there) a great homeschooling group (BAHE = Bolling Area Homeschooling Educators) and was about 80 families at the time. Virginia puts out one of the largest conventions (good for learning about things, getting stuff) in the nation. The homeschooling network was really helpful for us. I didn't work at the 5-sider so I can't share commute info. Bolling has a Metro station outside the gate, but had a bad rep so be ready to defend thyself. Out

FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
disgruntledemployee replied to AOF_ATC's topic in General Discussion
I've been reading the shit A1 is smoking and here's my pair of pennies. I'm seeing the other end of this whip. Sq/CCs have been burdened with trying to tell the peeps WTF the deal is and they can't. Attention is diverted from mission focus, people are emotional, and the AF sends fucksticks to BODN to try to calm the masses. They resort to some town hall meeting where they throw some poor soul in front and they can't answer the questions. Its tough enough working life changing issues of a person or two as CCs do every day, but this shit is fucked up on epic scales. Someone is going to get hurt. Out -
It's their country now, they can do what ever they want with it. If they don't like terrorists taking a city, then they'll go kick ass. If they tolerate it, now we know how much they care. If we even hint at bailing them out, then will always seek to have us bail them out. Time to stand like a man or cower like sheep. It's fucking pathetic that our military leaders are even putting intent on newspaper to bail them out. Out

Pilot over-reliance on automation.
disgruntledemployee replied to clouseau's topic in General Discussion
I like that my hours are mostly my hours, not George's hours. I got into this pilot business because I really like controlling the plane with the hands and feet. Even when doing long-haul, I encourage everyone hand fly up to cruise and on the way back down. Out -
If you think my BODN name means something about me, you are mistaken. Think of more as a representative for the common AF aviator. Ever see a sq commander be allowed to take care of any issue how they see fit? "Hey George, thanks for telling me about that airman that got in trouble, I'm sure you got it covered." Mark that as shit that Gp/CCs don't say. I could go on, but I've got the power of fellow BODNs that can chime in and do better. Probably experienced it. Out.

Your kind doesn't trust us! I've seen it too many times in the last 5 years. So I don't trust you guys anymore. You people have fucked over the good people of the AF with utterly unbelievable fucked up bullshit. I could go on, but I'd be repeating myself and nothing will change. Out.

Such bullshit men. I highly suggest people to go read the SIB and you will clearly see the main reason why this happened. Out -
Gen Welsh - USAF Chief of Staff
disgruntledemployee replied to busdriver's topic in General Discussion
From what I've seen, its the stratification of DPs that helps get you school. But that was so once upon a time. But if the AF is relying upon that awesome SOS program to select the next LTCs of the AF, time to start getting your nose a bit brown. Oh, don't fly either, that will just open yourself to possible risk of mistake. Hacking the mish is not #1, its #219. You too can the the most awesome Colonels if you just follow my guide to promotion popularity. Out -

^^ That letter just created a "hostile" work environment. Anything anyone says could be twisted by a creative mind to fit into a box of inappropriateness. Out -
C-17 4-engine flameout/SIB/FEB questions in here
disgruntledemployee replied to a topic in General Discussion
Good stuff. I will echo that the briefing we received at a quarterly session was basically what 3-Holer said, the crew was dumb. The brief was lacking sufficient detail and I didn't learn anything. I try to learn as much from these things as I can so that I can improve as an avaitor. Sitting around swapping stories and gaining a better understanding of our limits and our aircraft is priceless. Thanks for sharing. Dear BaseOps Moderators: I pledge that we create a new discussion group called Safety. This topic is a great start. Out -
Instrument Studying before UPT
disgruntledemployee replied to chem_teacher_flies85's topic in General Discussion
Everyone loves to tell the story of the legendary Commercial upteen thousand hour pilot that couldn't hack UPT. I think his name was Big Foot. In my class, we had a few guardsmen with some civy time. They all did well. Our sister flight had a dude with lots o civilian time, he was top in the class on the 38 side. The guy that finished dead last, had 0 time, not even a PPL or flight screening program time, but he did finish. The point, its your aviation career, prepare for it however you wish. Yes UPT IPs will show you stuff, but preparating doesn't hurt. Oh, and if an IP yells at you, you get to yell back...CRM 101. Out -
Someone took out a tazer, the kind that shoots a few thousand volts of electricity, and shocked a sleeping man???!!? That is a fine example of a deep lack of judgement. If you lack the judgement to electrocute a man that is sleeping, then I firmly believe that person lacks the judgement to lead a unit. Out

AF: We're retiring the A-10. Army: We'll take em. Marines: We'll pay to take em. AF: But we have this new F-35. Marines and Army, at the same time: does it have a 30mm that strikes fear into the gut of our enemy? Jinx, you owe me a beer. AF: no, but it has this new fancy deal where.. Marines: shut it. And there you have it folks. The man on the ground has a love affair with the Hog. So much so that I can actually see them trying to take over flying the plane. I wonder why? Out

DFRESH, You killed it. No more warning on that page. Add a stencilled malware icon to your computer, right under your name. Let us know when you're an Ace! On a side note, I use Malwarebytes on my PCs and it does a great job with malware. Symantec absolutely sucks at malware. Malwarebytes is free for one-time scanning and fixing, but for a small cost, you get real-time protection. Out

I just went to page 8 of the U-28 thread and I am still getting a warning from my malwarebyes. The IP it is blocking is 195 dot 191 dot 25 dot 190 (decimal = dot). A quick google search of that IP says the website name is hankstruckpictures dot com and that its server is located in the Ukraine. There is still something with that page. Out
