  1. Huggy, As we have discussed before, probably a wise choice. I love these little hot rods. I've been involved with them in some fashion or the other since 2008. Right now, mine are torn apart (just wrapped up a year's worth of client projects, so we're diving back into our jets now). I've got new MB ejection seats coming, and just spec'd out the components for a glass cockpit upgrade that we'll install this summer concurrently when we do the seats. I'm looking forward to having some fun this year. :)
  2. You asked for a reason as to why, in your opinion, people seemed upset. I gave you one. As for my own personal situation, no it does not preclude me from making a living. However, I am not an airline pilot; I'm an engineer and a business owner. I employ aerospace engineers, aircraft maintenance technicians, as well as pilots and flight engineers to fly my aircraft. From the perspective of an employer, yes it appears that an effort is being made to restrict the options of those looking to get out (further down the line) in order to shore up numbers. A spade is a spade, I call it like I see it. Other things may be going on, but it doesn't change perception.
  3. Maybe because there are other, better ways for him to do his job and meet his requirements; than to try and restrict the ability of people to make a living once their service commitment is complete.
  4. They did. It's called the CF-5D, license built by Canadair back in the day. Bigger wing, leading edge flaps, -15 engines (J85-13 core with a smattering of -21 internal components), beefier landing gear, bigger wheels and tires. Even modded them with CF-18 HUD and HOTAS. Canadians used them as LIFT aircraft for a number of years before retiring them. They even SLEP'd their birds before putting them in storage. Great jets.
  5. Win? That would be a nice encore...
  6. Since when has that stopped a drunk sailor? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
  7. Sounds like a good time had by all. Work, as usual, kept me from making it out this year. Buddy of mine made his Reno debut in Formula One this year.

  10. Been busy, meant to post this last week: Aircraft Mechanic https://www.hollingenterprises.com/jobs/aircraft-mechanic Avionics Technician https://www.hollingenterprises.com/jobs/avionics-technician Structural Technician https://www.hollingenterprises.com/jobs/structural-technician
  11. Hey everyone, I posted a job link for Aircraft Mechanics on guardreservejobs.com yesterday. Check it out, we're going to begin uploading the position descriptions next week to the Careers section of our website, https://www.hollingenterprises.com/careers We are a mil-friendly employer (we are all Guard/Reserve, retired, etc.) and appreciate the unique challenges faced by those who strive to juggle two careers with family and the like. We are also going to begin adding to our Engineering Group staff later this summer. Thanks for reading and please share this with anyone whom you think would be interested.
  12. Again, until there's some confirmed backstory: all you have is some guys sport-bitching on here in my opinion. If it means that much to you guys, then someone send him a message on Facebook and ask him to explain here. And with that, I am going to leave Oklahoma politics in Oklahoma and go have a beer on the beach.
  13. Wings on the suit shouldn't be a concern. I see them worn all the time, albeit they are smaller than the ones worn by Mr. Pugh, by retired Navy guys. Same goes for SEAL Trident and SWO warfare pins. As for patch placement/type.....whatever. Good on the dude for trying to be a part of the process. Agreed, using his service as a core tenet of his campaign is probably a good tactic for his area. You might not like or agree with the guy, but I see nothing here that is out of the norm for a standard political campaign. Care to elaborate on why you're chucking spears? Got some backstory, or is it just a case of mis-identified stolen valor?
  14. Fresno is deployed. Might explain delays.
  15. Let's see how far this thread goes. Please, continue.
  16. The Air Force should buy whatever is on the cover of the latest version of Ace Combat. Consider tomorrow's war won.
  17. Albie has it nailed down cold when it comes to interview prep. Great guy, FedEx, retired FANG Eagle Driver doing IP at Tyndall back in the day, and flew OV-10's. Great program with excellent customer service. He's currently based out of Hong Kong but travels back all the time for classes, seminars, etc. Two thumbs way up for a Great American.

    Mustache March

Every day is Mustache March when you're a part-timer.
  19. You certainly are a bit further down the road than most, like those straight out of school and think that Mark Cuban is waiting to lend them a boatload of cash. Like I said, and what was echoed by the gentleman you referenced, there are challenges but nothing insurmountable. I'll save the rest for PM. Cheers!
  20. It's harder than you may think. Find a mil-friendly employer first, then consider dipping your toe in the entrepreneurial waters. You'll have enough on your plate going through your initial seasoning and subsequent upgrades once you get back to your unit. Just my dos pesos, but I ran my company for a year and a half while also being AGR before I made the plunge and decided to cut the cord on my orders and go back to being a part-timer. Most people in my unit thought I was nuts (was previously 8 years temp AGR and was just handed a set of full-time AGR orders that would have carried me thru retirement). At the end of the day, like anything worthwhile, you have to decide what's best for you and your own situation. It has been difficult at times, but is not impossible to do, hence my advice to get another job first. You can still consult while working for someone else as long as your employment agreement does not prohibit it. One thing you'll realize is that it helps to have those multiple income streams to either pay for unexpected expenses or that super-nice vacation. What's your engineering background? What's your location? I'm always hiring engineers. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
