  1. I suggest contacting xcraftllc via PM. He did exactly that of which you seek answers. Do a search using his username and you'll find all of his posts regarding this as well. May the odds be ever in your favor.....
  2. Probably sounded like I was being a dick. However, it is looked at unfavorably. Guys who send in apps with cover letters that say for example "I have wanted to fly F-16's in XX Wing since...." when XX flies F-15's/A-10's/whatever else besides F-16 generally end up in the trash. Know your audience. Good luck on your quest.
  3. One way is to know the actual squadron number for unit you are applying to. (115th is an airlift squadron flying C-130's in 146th AW). Technique only. Edit: to add info in order to be an educator
  4. That's understood. I was contacted via PM with questions. Happy to help, but if I ask a question in my reply, it's going to raise a question or two if you do not reply; yet read the message. The PM feature allows you to see when the other person reads the message thread. Given all the shit happening online, and the lack of history as a member of our community; my concerns are valid in my opinion. So if you are true newb, great. Welcome, seriously. Give me a way to contact you and I will help if I can. If not, "Gun Kai!"
  5. Id be wary of anyone that asks questions via PM but doesn't respond to standard questions in response like unit of assignment and whether or not they have a .mil email. Just saying.
  6. Depending upon the work you are performing, a LLC and a good liability insurance policy will protect you in most instances. We carry more than the average small business has to, but we're building and flying jets. I have no trouble sleeping at night.
  7. Some Wings still believe in doing things right, others have drank the Blue Kool-Aid by the gallon. Not saying that's the case with MGM, just saying from my experience. Guys in my unit, left and right, have been told by "leadership" not to expect to do a day over 20. "You're not being non-retained, but don't expect to stay." So much for being able to pull a 30 year retirement like they planned on/were promised. These guys are the backbone of our experienced part-time MX force. Needless to say, dudes are pissed and feel betrayed. One guy was non-retained at 28 years. Passed PT, SMSgt, great leader and mentor. Got shit on with no explanation as to why. To save a buck, that's why. Our phase dock is about to get gutted by "policies" like this. I've got folks calling me all the time looking for a job in my company because they're sick of the bullshit.
  8. Already happening. There are RFP's out on fbo.gov for RPA pilots and sensor operator service providers. ETA: Siri don't spellz so good.
  9. First rule of Fight Club.
  10. SAC is back....
  11. In my daily dealings with the Anchors Aweigh crowd in my other work, NMCI sucks. Having to burn CD's and snail-mail it bc NMCI stripped my .pptx attachment from an email is just plain stupid. It makes me start looking for my Windows 95 update pack and AOL CD in the mail bc I MUST be caught in a time warp and am living in 1994.
  12. Edited to add: ah, fuck this shit. I'm done.
  13. Well done.
  14. So is thread the equivalent of a BO.net Customer Support Line? "Have you tried turning it off, then on again?" "Flip the CD so that the words are facing up when you insert it into the tray."
  15. I live in a Navy town, drink with plenty of Navy bros. Don't believe everything you read on the Internet. They're just as jaded and pissed off as we are. They're just worried about something they type on AW potentially affecting their real-world career.
  16. You will meet the 6 year VA requirement within the 10 year pilot requirement if you are selected. Good luck.
  17. Sssshhhhh........
  18. I have a friend who is based out of there. Last time I was visiting, I met the guy who's leading the charge to keep the airport open. He was giving a tour to a contingent from the FAA. Last I heard, there was significant support to keep it open . The city council made a huge push to close it again after the Citation crashed, hit a hangar and killed all on board in 2013. Thankfully, it was unsuccessful. It's a great airport with significant history.
  19. Given the fight going on to keep SMO open, I'm sure the City Council will try to use this as ammo to close the airport.

  21. Keep in mind that Foxtrot Alpha is a sub-site on Jalopnik. It's a site originally formed to talk about cars. His audience is not those with technical backgrounds in our chosen profession(s).
  22. Our TODO just brought us our iPads today at drill. They're off the network, and updated manually once a week by the TODO and his appointed help. HUGE improvement over the toughbook/laptops. Not having to login with a CAC and check for a daily sync, etc. is going to be great. Grab n go is where it's at!
  23. Latest reports are 10 dead now, 13 injured.
