Here's the part i don't think has been discussed, was he even likely to be on the front line? I don't think so because his job was medic related, so it wasn't like he was going to be shooting at fellow Muslims. And trust me, he knew his job. I highly doubt he believed he would be killing muslims, in fact, I highly doubt he'd have felt more guilty about doing his job there rather than here. Unless he was just to cowardice to deal with the fact that he would have more of his patients coming directly from the war (as it was reported he had heard so many horror stories and was scared of the war for that reason) and that all he would be doing is dealing with horror stories. I really think he just saw this as a prime opportunity to take his role as a "muslim" in his mind (not that all muslims believe this, but I believe he did, or he wouldn't have done it) and take out combatants that would soon be in the fight before they even got to the fight. Therefor I would put it as Terrorism as described by Stoliet. I really think also, his posts online about being compared to a suicide bomber/guy who jumps on a greanade, are more evidence that he was attacking, not just mentalling breaking down. And thus I also believe he was doing it as an extremist muslim... maybe not from the thought that "all non-muslims must die", but at least from the "i'm going to take them out before they take out my fellow muslim's" attitude. I would doubt he was tied to any terrorist agencies (other than going to the same mosque as the hi-jackers from 9/11 as reported, but i guess like every muslim in D.C. goes to that mosque occasionally). But I still see it as a religious attack, even if it was "pre-emptive defense" of fellow muslims as I describe.

Ok, I didn't ever see this fully answered, so here is EXACTLY what I did to take care of this exact situation. I took note that people were finding out out that DG wasn't listed on their paperwork when I saw this thread a while back. So, when I actually did recieve DG, I also figured I may as well look into the scenario. Turns out, sure enough, my DG was not recorded in my SURF, while I had a friend from the same Det who had his recorded. Same graduation year, I graduated in Dec, he graduated in May. Only reason I can think of there being a difference is that the Det specifically applied for an extra DG to be awarded for me (and maybe others for all I know), and AETC gave me one. Evidently they have a few left after all the oddball people are added up (IE dets with 22 people getting 2 DGs, but those extra 2 get added into an AFROTC pool for extras). SO maybe mine wasn't recorded cuz i got it that way. What I did: I took the congratulations letter I got from my Det/CC down to Formal Training (at Sheppard). I asked the guy who worked there how to look it up cuz I couldn't find it anywhere. He said it should be in my Surf. It wasn't. So he went into the system and did this: In a program called "MILPDS" he went to "Customer Service/Promotions and Testing/Commissioning Agreement/ROTC Code" He then changed my code to I think it was "Code R". It was a letter or a number, and that is the random letter that is written on the notes I took, so I think that's why I wrote that letter. That changed my surf report from "4 YR ROTC/FAG" to "DG 4YR ROTC/FAG" (I shit you not, it says FAG after every ROTC graduate's commissioning source). That is all I think should need to be done. You won't be able to see the update in your surf for a few days because they only process the updates every so often. Whether or not this will help me in the long run, who knows, am I a tool for doing it? probably, but if it does help, whatever... can it hurt to have it updated, no, and it's probably better to have things be as correct as possible in your history.

i smell real buffoonery. So it was mandatory and during club "member hours" that they made up... so you're forced to join the club and get the credit card, or pay.... sounds like a quick way for the club to make money that the SQ/CC is helping them out with. I say y'all ditch and make the SQ/CC drink alone until he knocks some sense into the club.

Went out to eat like 3-7 times a week, and I'm one who usually tries to eat my own meals just out of health reasons. Lunch is whatever you want. You'll probably have a week with enlisted folks, during which you'll probably eat buffets or pizza every day. There will be a few working lunches where everyone pitches in for pizza or subs (like 5 bucks), you're gonna have to put like 50 bucks towards MREs, They will give you plenty of opportunities to spend 10-100 bucks on souvenoirs (flight photos, coins, etc.) throughout the program. During the first week after blue thunder, also expect to eat out as part of the "get to know your flight" routine. If you have any questions about it, it's all fresh, i can give you help. There were a lot of times where it seemed like if they just gave us more info, we'd be able to do so much better and worry less. For example, day one you go to blue thunder, but not til the very end of the day (at least for us). There was plenty of time to get supplies before leaving, but they never gave us a schedule. There was no reason they didn't give us a schedule, other than they didn't think of it. Had we known that we had all day (and a long lunch break), we wouldn't have been making midnight runs to wal-mart (BTW, if your GPS has a "bad part of town avoidance" avoidance function on it, use it. Parts of Montgomery are really nice, others... not so much... mine brought me to a wal-mart that didn't exist in the middle of the sketchiest residential area. Way off the main road too). There was time to get uniform items you decided you needed and bugspray and other stuff you needed during day one. But they neglected to tell us the schedule, so we had to prepare as if we left first thing in the morning.

FWIW, AETC seems to love you too. Everyone here at Maxwell praises you. Evidently everyone here at AETC loved their deployment, and they keep wishing they could go back.

so, basically, the base now complies with the law that exists in the country that the base is in.... dunno if that's as big of a deal as if that weren't the case.

so here we are at ASBC, at Blue Thunder. My flight goes for PT with another Flight to play some ultimate football/frisbee (1 game of each going on), and halfway through we're all confused as the SF is watching us from the parking lot. We're all wondering if they are actually afraid we're going to randomly run to the flightline or something dumb like that. All the sudden the lights go up and the siren goes off on the truck for a quick second. I look over and notice that the other team had just scored in ultimate frisbee.... they had played the siren as part of the celebration for the team. Thought it was pretty funny. Oh, and mad props to the C-130 crew that kept buzzing us at (3-500 feet). That second pass with a pretty good banked turn was killer (that and I threw a TD pass while everyone was distracted.)

as a red wing fan, i'll admit he does put a little extra in... but so do a lot of goalies and a lot of other players. I remember once I had a coach who taught me the art of diving, it was actually kidna funny when I could draw penalties out of complete thin air. But I gave that habit up quickly. But a lot of times when someone assumes a dive on a player, it can also be viewed as a natural reaction. The most common occurance I can see of this is when someone's stick comes up high... naturally the head jerks back in reaction, whether or not the stick makes contact. Then even without contact, sometimes you see a call made for high sticking. A lot of times the reaction isn't instantaneous either because it takes a second for the brain to click, so it looks delayed and like a dive. In this case, where talbot's stick hits ozzie is low on the front side. If you get low enough, those pads don't always protect there. I've made a few goalies bleed with slapshots by hitting just right where the pad stops. But he probably dived.

hells yes. anyone who hasn't watched hockey, try tuning in to this series. It truly is the greatest game out there. hitting of football, faster than racing, skills (and hand eye coordination) far exceeding basketball and baseball. And better fights than boxing (ok, maybe not better than an MMA fight though). Just give your self a chance to get to know the rules (just like any sport there are some wierd ones). Go Wings!!! My friends that just EAD'd both said they heard about this, and both got their money right away... which we were told to expect a month or two for them to figure things out in the first place if Finance was working correctly. I don't think it is logical for it to have anything to do with engine performance, cuz it continues between the inlet and the bottom of the fuselage. (either that or there is some sort of optical illusion going on in the picture that was posted above.) it wouldn't make aerodynamic sense to have an extra piece going between the inlet and the fuselage if it was there just for engine performance.
