  4. At least she knew there was an AFI. The great new idea of civilian FACs seem to be making stuff up as they go along. Had one of them tell everyone during the pretest brief "there's no way I'll let you max the pushups, it's impossible to do them that fast (67/min) with form that I consider correct". Good thing we don't have FAA check pilots replacing SEFEs yet.
  5. If it's the official AF PFA, go to the flight doc and get it documented on an AF Form 469 (seriously). They'll then send you to the physical therapy folks who will write up the profile (form 422) to exempt you from any exercises you can't do. If you don't do pushups, the score will be computed according to the remaining components (total points out of 90 instead out of 100).

If you are asking about counting as a masters for your promotion boards, https://www.edwards.af.mil/library/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=6467 says you get a masters for completing TPS.
  7. Any particular examples? Never did IFF, but pretty much every kind of gouge, charts, etc imaginable was passed around at Pcola when I went through. Got to RND for EWO upgrade and all the undergrad navs in the class were a lot more wary after being completely fried because someone revealed to the powers that be study guide that the classes since Wilbur Wright had been using. They also had about 0.69% separating the high and low performers because of the grading system there - that probably enhanced competition as well.

  9. According to the JFTR, the AF will pay you 95% of what they would pay a commercial mover to move your stuff. That's most likely what the LBP refers to, and the only value which makes sense in that equation (no reason for the govt to pay you 200% of the equivalent cost.
  10. Interesting - hadn't heard of those cases. Usually they seem to be against Christian valedictorian's right to religious references/prayer. Would be a lot more supportive of them if they supported the 2nd amendment as zealously as the others.
  11. The reverse would be better if you want to get a nice place in town/on the beach, etc. I'd imagine when base housing is full they start letting people out in town instead of making you live in a tent behind the hangar until a room opens up.

  17. From the ATF FAQ: Might be worth checking with a FFL to see if you can do this. Some states have rifle/shotgun exemptions for residents of adjacent states which may help if you have PCS orders to NM. Agree on not doing an F2F sale as nonresident since ATF attention isn't generally a good thing.
  18. Whiting was still doing that when I was down in Pcola; they only made the Navy single students live on base since they couldn't force you to live on base (i.e, take away BAH) if you were USMC or Air Force.

You can also do partial DITY - I went with a lot of the smaller but denser (easy to pack and more weight=more pay) stuff like tools, guns, some kitchen stuff,etc. and had the movers take the rest. That way you more than cover your travel cost, have the important stuff with you right away, keep the valuable stuff away from the movers stealing it, and someone else takes care of the hard to move stuff like furniture, big screen TVs, etc.
  20. Sounds like you have the bases covered. Do your best without throwing others under the bus - that's all you can do to compete. In addition, if you have cadre counseling, etc it may be worth it to mention you're cutting extracurriculars etc to focus on grades - they've already seen you can be involved in the det, and better prioritizing your time shows good headwork (sts).
  21. Board at HQ. Not sure if it's exactly the same as the flight slot boards but if they are calculating the order of merit (x% CC rec, y%PFT, etc) then instead of looking at packages (sts) directly, your performance and CC will then determine the OM, with the board only setting the cutoff to get the desired # of slots after sorting all the cadet scores in the nation.
  22. Probably not a good idea. Reference the investigation for disenrollment threads for stories of cadets who overextended themselves in the wing and screwed up their grades, etc. While commanders ranking may be 69% of your ranking for slots, most CCs will strongly consider the numbers since if they recommend someone who is good at AAS but ends up not meeting the hard GPA, PT, etc numbers, it will waste that slot since you will be kicked out by HQ. If you are looking to demonstrate initiative, pulling your 2.9 to a 3.8 will show work ethic just as well as pledging the ROTC frat.
  23. AF considers it too expensive to pay radar techs/maintain a radar shop (air-to-air intercepts will be done using TCAS data in addition to the simulated A-G radar). In addition, the AF specified in the RFPs, etc that any modifications made to the T-1 would have to be removeable to return them to pilot training service within a specific timeframe. I'm guessing that all the work required to put a radar in the nose would violate that.
