  1. If you want to be a lawyer you'll fit in perfectly (sts) in today's AF.
  2. I'd put down the month and a shot. If they took your name/social when you had it it *should* end up in some master AF computer system, especially with the Maxwell MDG doing FT and ASBC - a flu shot I had when TDY showed up in my med records months later after inprocessing to a new base. Worst case they tell you they can't find a record and you have to get another shot.
  3. Nobody's denying there are people who have it far worse. The difference is in other bases the suck is caused by the enemy attacks or natural conditions. Not members of our own military.
  4. Congrats... don't f it up. Don't see why they would play a prank like that, most likely they looked at the fact you had a B before the final and wondered how it went to a D, then recalculated.
  5. Everyone will go through the exact same training. At the end you can drop anything from AWACS nav to RC EWO to F-15E WSO.
  6. 4 Heard the AWACS and tankers are slowly phasing out navs; in addition with the combined nav/EWO curriculum RJ CSOs should get to do some of the fun stuff in the back (sts).
  7. No, by the time they get to us they've usually changed from "soonest" to "2 weeks ago".
  8. Standard for a 4-year scholarship. Apply winter of your Sr. year I think and then they give you the decision spring-summer before you start the freshman year of college. Recommend checking with afrotc.com or your chosen detachment for more details. If you want to join without a scholarship all you need to do generally is go talk to the ROTC unit and sign up for the appropriate ROTC classes your first semester.
  9. Pretty much the only place flight docs are is where flyers are; I wouldn't call Scott not really an AFB - the airlift/tanker guys might get pissed. I don't know if they will even see you at this point (1 year of HS left) unless you are the child of a military retiree, etc with some existing access to the military healthcare system. When joining ROTC, I was offered the scholarship before my freshman year and did the entry (DODMERB) physical that spring/summer. After the initial physical (done at a local contract facility that does physicals for other companies for employment, etc) if there were any waivers needed I was scheduled with the closest base (Navy hospital in my case) for an evaluation. They didn't even look at my flight physical type issues until my junior year of ROTC after getting a slot. In short, you probably won't know if you're DQ'ed/waivered for sure until much later in the game.
  10. 2 bus trips - Quick googling gives 47-57 pax/motorcoach so assume 3 buses x 2 ways (back to atterbury) x 1200 miles = 7200 bus*miles = $1.80/3 buses/mile = 0.60/mile which is in the ballpark of truck driver type pay.
  11. Nice shots! To enable the long exposures, try a neutral density filter on the lens - you can get several different strengths depending on how much you want to increase the exposure time.
  12. Interesting. If there is someone sitting there grading your planning process wouldn't they notice you aren't doing any planning resulting in a fail/bad grade for the mission planning part, though?
  13. '2' - we have foolproof devices to see if someone really knows the stuff that was on a test (it's called a sim/airplane). Any gouge will help you getting up there (sts) and briefing a mission if you know your stuff, but if you are only following some script you got the instructor will be able to tell quickly.
  14. For FL at least I was able to change the mailing address listed in the registration database to wherever I was going next. Many states will still be willing to take your money if you are out of state military but declare yourself a resident. Something else to be aware of - Californian diplomats have pressured several Navy bases located there that I know of to require emissions inspection to get a base decal since they didn't want all the out of state cars driving around exempt from CARB regulations. Might want to check with your gaining base to see if there is any kind of vehicle registration - if so, you may be stuck with the inspections anyway.
  15. If you're talking about the UNT class this spring, there was no 'cheating' involved - combination of SQ overreaction and people not being smart about where they pulled it out (sts). You'll be racked and stacked throughout your entire career - hope you never use one of these; also, when you get to a new squadron, make sure to remind your fellow crewdogs you're "looking out for #1" in order to head off any problems they may cause.
  16. If you're going to Pcola don't sell yourself short on the fast movers - typical drops when I went through were about 6-9 AF dudes a month with 2/3 F-15E so given a class of 30 (combined Randolph and Navy-Pcola avg class sizes) you'd have a decent chance. Another thing to consider is by the time the AF program starts pumping out WSOs (sts) the VT-86 pipeline will have been shut down for a few months so they will likely need WSOs to ensure FTU spots stay filled. (disclaimer: all numbers WAG and subject to change by AFPC or phases of the moon)
  17. UFB... Hope the Marine's chain of command brought down some pain afterwards.
  18. Farva getting in on the action (sts)...
  19. Will they use WSOs in the back seat (w/the weapons/sensors/CAS experience)?
  20. We should probably take away the berets from the cops then when they're not manning the gate/patrolling - same goes for PJs/SERE/CCT/etc when they're not actively training that day. I'll have to remember to keep my emergency blues in the truck for when I pull into work and there's a 200 AGL cloud bank hanging out over our low level routes for the day.
  21. Some people must enjoy being deployed so much that they want to bring a little bit of the desert back home... per the attached memo, the pt tuck will be mandatory for all AETC personnel whether or not on an AETC base as of 1 Oct. Looking forward to some CBTs on detecting the fake front tuck. AETC PT Wear Policy.pdf
  22. And was sent to the boneyard, then pulled out (sts) and converted into trainers again by the Navy. Still going strong in Pcola.
  23. First of all, learn to use paragraphs. They work. Second, if you DOR/SIE from flight training based on the last 6-9 people I knew who did, they will send you space and missiles. If your girlfriend is that controlling, she definitely won't like it when you're spending 72 hour shifts underground, with her stuck in the middle of Minot. Knew a number of guys who did exactly that - quit flight school/ROTC because of wife or girlfriend issues; in many cases, they soon ended up with neither wings or a woman since that attitude is reflective of future problems. If she is truly the one, the stress of flight school will bring you together instead of pushing apart; if not, it will be initially painful but you will have saved yourself several more years of stress.
  24. Maybe the first speechwriter matey couldn't find a Somali translator on short notice?
  25. Most seem not to mind spartan conditions - the problem is not so much with the external suck making life bad as our own leadership unnecessarily doing it. Many would probably rather work on a more spartan FOB which didn't have as many shoes with nothing better to do than make everyone elses life difficult.
