Plenty of people have jumped ship who were uncommitted and I know of a couple of people who declined the assignment based on the fact that it would take them past their adsc. I know that leaders are trying to do right by the institution and the people. But it is a tough sell given the ops tempo and projected duty location. For everyone facing this assignment who don't already have two mws's under your belt I feel for you but it's no different than the TAMI debacle that lead me here. I have known several in afsoc to get twice passed to major and get continued to 20. No prior enlisted time.

NO ONE WILL BE ENROLLED INTO COURSE 20 LATER THAN 28 SEPTEMBER 2012. Course 20 students will be graduated or disenrolled after 12 months plus one optional 3-month extension for those remaining in good standing and have passed at least two of the three required exams. NO COURSE 20 ENROLLMENT WILL EXIST PAST 27 DECEMBER 2013. Course 20 students who have not completed the course by this time will have to re-enroll in the new SOS DL course. One of the biggest reasons I loved the Bone was the sense that we as a crew were employing a weapon, beyond IQC each pilot got a bounce to update their currency but there was no beating up the pattern. You were expected to know how to fly solid instruments and land the plane. That was motherhood. Fast forward a couple of years and in U-28 initial qual I hear an instructor pilot bragging about logging 30 touch and goes, in one single sortie. I didn't understand it and still don't. Now on the other hand when the meat and potatoes of your weapon system is to infil bad dudes in a blacked out LZ... feel free to practice all you need to...

Might I also introduce into evidence that our flight commander said fuck the lesson plan, here's what you guys need to learn about early airpower. And then he proceeded to show us this legendary piece of cinematic history. Our flight still finished last place in the reindeer game competition that is SOS but at least one instructor got it... and if only one SOS instructor gets it, then my faith is at least restored for a little bit.
