  1. Why we need more enforcement
  2. TCAS was very handy for me to avoid some Mudhens that decided to completely ignore a vector and attempt to rejoin into me in the wild west.
  3. Conspiracy theory... how many passed over Majs not continued will it take before we plead for the DOD to change our retirment system to allow for some bennies prior to 20 years? Jeeze, maybe it is only a short term problem but dang. Guess that was the beauty of giving everyon a "regular" commission.
  4. I believe Gen Wurster said that the 1 SOW didn't need to complete our ORI. It was perhaps one of the best things I've heard. Real world performance superseded rehearsed / fake shenanigans. Aid and Relief triumphed over reflective belts and individual combat equipment. https://www2.hurlburt.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123189492
  5. Unless we aren't being told what is really going on, that's not how the RIF is going to work. They don't promote a certain number of pilots or navs to Major or Lt Col the entire year group competes against each other likewise they aren't going to RIF us that way either. The senior rater (wing commander in most cases) will be given a certain amount of Definitely Retain, Retain and Do Not Retain allocations based on personnel assigned and a percentage yet to be determined. From there the board will do its magic. Although this is not gospel, this was just published by af.mil yesterday stating that the overall target will be around 2%. I don't think they know what is going on. I'm going to put my .02 cents in again if the CSAF is listening please separate us line officers we need to be a rated line force and a non rated line force. https://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123254793
  6. So when my year group hits the Majors board, if it is a 90% promotion rate it really will be an 85%. Why not just not RIF and Majors board the 03 year group at the same time, draw the rate at 85% if you don't get picked up then you go to the tribal council where you will face RIF action. Would seem a lot more efficient this way.
  7. MSOGS = OBOGS???
  8. Care to provide a link?
  9. So why generate all this workload with an RRF, if you have a UIF / Article 15 / Multiple Q-3s and you are in the targeted year groups you are out.
  10. that video makes me want to fly a buff, well done
  11. Did the actually have Dudette on the ATO?
  12. I'm not a physics major but acceleration is change in velocity over a period of time. Therefore acceleration kills, because F = M*A
  13. What time frame was this?
  14. Hacker: Shack Don't know anything other than what I witnessed and I'm not questioning ability or merit.
  15. This stuff happens all the time. Solo stud fails to break out for us (a formation of tweets) my IP was livid, who the hell is that, they are hooking this ride. We get on the ground a find out the offender is the daughter of a four star. She came into apologize and my IP went from outright rage to pure ass kissery. Believe she's flying mudhens now not sure.
  16. There are some NSAv options out there that don't involve only single engine turbo prop time. We have been told thatwe can expect an NSAv, I'm sure if you let your preferences for multi time be known it would garner some consideration. That being said I would think that time flying a PC-12 / U-28 for AFSOC would be more valuable to the airlines than flying strictly a PC-12 in the corporate world. Then again, I don't know I'm not even worrying about that aspect yet. Furthermore if you are really worrying about the airlines right now you might find it a challenge in AFSOC. If you are asking just to know, maybe a more appropriate forum would be calling/emailing the airlines. Otherwise you kind of come of sounding like a doofus.
  17. Absolutely, find yourself a roomate or two and sit back and make some serious bank.
  18. U-28 ops tempo is pretty much a 1.1 dwell ratio. Great mission but you will be gone half of the year easily, more if you want.
  19. Her name was spelled Tera and no one suspected a prior career in pornography? Tera Patrick, Tera Heart come on.
  20. Thanks for all of the great info GD. I didn't know nor did my doc say that we could try lenses not on the "approved" list. Would non approved lenses require another waiver? I am fine with glasses for flying, frankly even when I was wearing contacts regularly I found that they dried out on longer duration flights.
  21. Totally helps, thanks for educating me. Didn't realize that a cyclo refraction would be so blurry as a presecription. I already have a waiver for the SCLP for astigmatism over the limit. I'm hoping the next set they have ordered me works because as it was explained to me there are limits to what's approved vs what's out there. I'm having a difficult time with fit. OD: +.75 -1.75 042 OS: +.05 -3.25 178 My astigatism OS under cyclo was -3.5 Already tried Frequency 55 Torics and were on them for a couple of years, this year I couldn't see well enough with them. Not sure what lens are up next.
  22. I'm getting older and therefore my powers of accomodation are getting worse. I anticipate getting kicked off of the SCLP just because I can't get a lens with enough astigmatism correction that is on the approved list. I have an approved waiver for astigmatism based on my initial FC1 medical and get it updated every year. I was wondering since my prescription changes every year (presumably because of less power to accomodate) why the docs don't just go with a cyclopegic refraction to prescribe my eyeglasses? I mentioned it to my doc this time and she preferred to just do a manifest refraction. Any reason why a cyclo refraction wouldn't be warranted? Wouldn't this result in a pair of glasses that would correct my true eyes without regard to accomodation?
  23. It had to do with the VML for the ALFA bill, two years in the squadron you were headed out the door for an ALFA unless you were reclama for a potential weapons school look or were a prior FAIP. It took pretty much a year and a half to get through MQT and a deployment. By that time you were on the VML and oh by the way despite sitting pretty on hours/priority for upgrade we would get back guys from requal and their ALFA tour and they would jump over you in priority to upgrade. Not sure how this construct has changed since ALO tours went to three years and TAMI did her thing. I had 400 hours in the jet after a year operational but I "knew" I would probably not be number one on the AC upgrade list due to guys coming in for requal. Therefore when TAMI hit me up U-28s was my choice because in a year I knew I probably would not be upgraded to AC and most likely would find myself going to UPT or heading out to be an ALO or to UAVs. Not my cup of tea. Anyone else that has more current information please feel free to chime in.
  24. I believe my prior community (Bones) sent guys regularly to AETC as copilots.
  25. You can flame the T-6 out by a rapid reduction to idle? Could you link to the full report?
