  1. I have one www.nickwabeke.blogspot.com I'm not sure how much I will be able to update it, we are on the second day of the line.
  2. Can Brooks run longer?? Yes For example, if you fail anything at Brooks, they keep you there. That is according to TSgt Gillette the NCOIC. You stay there until you get another career field. She mentioned one Lt who has been there for 9 months now. Now barring you don't fail, if you need extra tests it depends. Most of the extra tests wouldn't run more than a day. If you have had PRK you will definitely be there three-four days. The dates listed on your orders should provide a RNLTD... the date of your testing (billeting reservations are made for the day before) and then the next day you can leave after 1200. Out of my class we had one guy who was still in testing when we all found out we passed. I still don't know the fate of that guy.
  3. I am coming into UPT with a commercial, multi and instrument instructor. With all of that said the single best thing I have ever done in my training so far was being in a light twin in complete IMC with strobes on. If you haven't been spatially disoriented before I would do it (with an instructor of course). Even if you have your instrument ticket, nothing replaces solid IMC the whole way to somewhere and all the way back. I'm not talking .1 actual instrument I am talking about the entire flight.
  4. At Columbus transition students (sounds better than casual) we are required to PT 3x a week for an hour. This means we meet at the gym at a specified time sign in and PT. Some people go run on base and some people stay in the gym. It's whatever you want to do. I have been told (haven't confirmed) that once in pilot training due to schedules there isn't organized pt meetings per say but you are required to work out 3x a week for an hour. The flights have a PT officer and you submit your information via him/her. I imagine running on base is no problem, because its done all the time. As far as running on roads, when I first got here I went running on roads and got scared due to the large amounts of people with dogs not tied up. I prefer to run on base/on a treadmill and I'm sure things will be specific to your base.
  5. Okay I fired off a question to my local FSDO regarding the subject, maybe if enough of us email them we will get an answer
  6. I know we have been quoting FARs around here but what FARs actually apply to military pilots/ military pilots in training? I mean technically some of the people learning to fly might only have private licenses, so within the letter of the FARs unless you were a commercial pilot you wouldn't even be allowed to be payed for flying? Has anyone contacted their local FSDO about logging time and what can be counted and what can't? Because thats what I think is probably a good idea to do, problem is even the FSDOs differ over what is allowed and what isn't.
  7. How long is PIT Where is it conducted besides Randolph? Would a T-6 primary driver ever get a T-37 FAIP? Would it be a good time to start a family during a FAIP tour or are you likely to go remote immediately following your qualification in your MWS?
  8. I think perhaps he is talking about the efficiency of the different types of powerplants. TJ vs TF vs TP vs Recips If you look at a curve of plotted efficiencies the turboprop looks remarkably like a recip at high altitudes. So a high performance endorsement is the easy part, what about the high altitude, don't suppose that a lot of the IPs at UPT are also FAA CFIs, and could sign studs off for high alt training. Even if they could, I wonder if they would....
  9. So in the f-16's case it is more of a function of landing distance than Maximum Gross Landing Weight (not wanting to overstress the gear)????

    Call Signs

So if you came to your RTU and said "yeah I like to call myself..... long pause FNG" what would happen would everyone shit their pants because no one has ever been that humble??? Even if you were combat ready and mission qualified, I would still think that you might have a chance of being re-named. What about that f-16 instructor who shit his pants in flight, or anyone that shits their pants in flight?
  11. The only thing I am aware of is the modification to your relative standing score based on your unit commander ranking. Meaning with the RSS equation someone who is 1/1 had to compete a lot less and therefore will earn less points than someone who scored 1/100 cadets. The same thing goes for being 2/2... they will receive more points than someone who is 100/100 because the difference is larger. The board has the option of accepting the order of merit list or they can chose who they please, no one knows.
  12. I was told I have a touch of it in my left eye. This was after getting new glasses and telling my doc that no matter what he did with the strength of the prescription that the images just were not as crisp as my right eye. He said that was because my right eye compensated for my left eye (I have 20/20 out of my right eye and 20/50 out of my left eye). Therefore not as many nerves grew in my left eye. He said it was very very slight however, I have no symptoms of it, no drifting or moving of the eye without me moving it myself, he said that the only thing that I could do was wear a patch and try to strengthen the eye, so I guess that would be the advice that I would extend to you, it's too bad it wasn't caught very early in life as once you are older its almost impossible to correct with the patch because the nerves are probably done growing, but you could probably get some results.
  13. I think I did well I had a PCSM of 90, with 200 flt hours and a 75 pilot AFOQT. Take advantage of the practice sessions, and talk to yourself while doing it to associate both verbally and physically what you are doing to achieve the desired response. As far as the question inventory, as with the sample package that you will recieve that describes it, would you rather watch a football game or participate in one, which quality do you think they would like more????
