  1. The best maintenance you'll ever see is in the guard/reserves.
  2. Being able to teach at the IP level in the F-16 doesn't magically happen through the IPUG. It's a process that takes many years of study and flying due to the enormous mission set. Yes, you can send guys through the IPUG with minimal time or grant waivers to put them through earlier, but that doesn't give them more experience. The answer isn't to train more IPs; it's to retain the experienced pilots. That said, history is just repeating itself again. We've been here before and we'll be here again in another 15 years.
  3. You guys done circle jerking yet?
  4. A friend of mine did this back in 2010/11. At that time, he said it was very wild west-ish. I'm sure things haven't changed much.
  5. A rare glimpse into the AFPC offices in San Antonio:
  6. Dude, the same thing happens with ENJPPT students and SUPT students who just happened have a good drop. FAIP is just another label people use to justify stereotypes.
  7. What Matmacwc said is correct. Tolerating G's is more about having good AGSM technique than anything else. Second most important is having an ATAGS (the new g-suit). Third is being physically fit. Being tall, short, fat, or skinny does not affect your G-tolerance enough to concern you. Also, the only times you pull 8-9 Gs are during BFM & ACM. And even then, it's only for 6-9 seconds at a time (unless you're messing it up). Bottomline: Stay generally physically fit. Don't skip leg day, but don't stop upperbody workouts as well. And for your own health, you should be running 1-2 times a week. https://distractify-media-prod.cdn.bingo/1558806-980x.jpg
  8. Be careful what you wish for.... I have seen very little correlation between being a weapons officer and being a good leader. It's about 50/50.
  9. I hope the F-16 B course can handle that many new guys...
  10. This did happen across UPT bases in 2013/14.
  11. There's risk in flying lower (MANPADs, ADA, etc). It isn't a simple decision to make.
  12. I saw him speak a number of times. Not once did he impress me as someone who actually gave a shit about anyone. I remember him yelling at my SOS class to "join the freaking club" because it supports MWR activities. That's the kind of commander he was. Instead of figuring out why no one was joining the officer's club, he just gave orders for people to join it..
  13. "it's pretty easy to figure out which party benefits uses the military for PR purposes more" is more accurate. Republicans lost their way after 9/11 when the party became a platform for businesses to profit through legislation.
  14. No one can give you even an approximate forecast without being full of shit. There is no typical past timeline either. It's constantly changing. You're trying to find a trend line to predict the future for you, but it's pointless. If you have to hang your hat on something, though, the drops leading up to yours (within about 6 months are so) will give the best prediction.
  15. This has happened before... multiple times. It's cyclical like all of the UPT drops and all of the conversations in this thread. These exact same conversations were happening when this forum first opened up.
  16. I once saw a guy get a 4-star lauded comment from his dad... who happened to be a 4-star. haha!
  17. I going to take a wild guess and say you're referring to WIC for heavies.
  18. This is a stupid article. Radars require restarting sometimes. It's not a big deal. And yes, the fix is to turn it off then back on.
  19. Some aren't. All of my commanders have. That said, Gen Robinson comes from the ABM community which tends to live and breathe platitudes and exaggerate all of the bad aspects of the fighter community. Case in point, the latest PACAF SII is the ever so vague, "Attention to detail."
  20. I've never been to Sheppard, but I can only hope that I don't ever get assigned to that place. What a circle jerk.
  21. This discussion reminded me of an old ESPN commercial.
  22. What you're describing is why cyber should be it's own service. Why the Air Force insists on controlling this mission is beyond me. It's the same sort of shenanigans the Army pulled with the Army Air Corps. Comm already proved they could "sink a ship" with the Stuxnet virus. I have no doubt they can do much more damage than that. Cyber stands to gain a lot by shedding the needless overhead and lack of understanding from Big Blue.
  23. What the hell is wrong with you and your "coworker"?
  24. This is the real problem. Being an excellent fighter pilot does not equal being an excellent leader of people.
