It is possible, but it is an administrative asspain severe to make it happen. I'm trying to gain two retirees right now and we've been working the process on one of them for well over a year...Probably close to two. One of the big holdups is that you need to take and pass an initial entry physical as if you are a 22 year old off the street and the AFRC medical machine turns veeerrry sloooowwwlly. Ultimately it can be done but it is really painful.

Can you be in COMMUNITY college and be in ROTC? Crosstown from a 4-year school is one thing. But being enrolled in an institution that does not grant bachelor's degree does not seem compatible with being enrolled in ROTC to me. Could be wrong.

Really?

That about sums it up right there

I know I've made some mistakes in the past but I want to make up for them. I want to be good.

Must be a shitty upgrade

RPA/Cyber has their medal on the way
Danny Noonin replied to ATIS's topic in Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA/RPV/UAS/UAV)
So what about the air medal? Can be awarded simply be for flying X number of times regardless of mission complexity or threat or it can be awarded for valor. Same deal in your mind or not? -
What the fuck is the matter with you?

Investment showdown -- beyond the Roth, SDP, & TSP
Danny Noonin replied to Swizzle's topic in Squadron Bar
Of course there are situations that favor the traditional. But there are a million that favor the Roth as well. Being young and in the military typically favors the Roth. Besides deployed tax free, dont forget that a huge chunk of mil income already is tax free--BAH. Which, for home owners with newer mortgages (and therefore more interest) is an entirely real possibility based on where the bracket lines are drawn. So between deductions that won't likely be applicable in retirement and a significant amount tax free income like BAH many military folks have a far more favorable tax bracket now than they will expect to have in retirement, which makes the Roth a no brainer for them.- 1,196 replies

Investment showdown -- beyond the Roth, SDP, & TSP
Danny Noonin replied to Swizzle's topic in Squadron Bar
Interesting. So what you're saying is that Roths only make sense if you have tax free income? I wonder why so many pros recommend them for many investors and scenarios? Must be a conspiracy. Or you're out to lunch. One or the other. For example, why is it that you say mortgage deductions are irrelevant? Think it through.- 1,196 replies

Taxes, the Deficit/Debt, and the Fiscal Cliff
Danny Noonin replied to HeloDude's topic in Squadron Bar
Yeah, let's keep the internet debate between anonymous people (who won't be swayed anyway) classy. What website is this again? -
Have no fear. The mudhen bubbas are all members (pg 9) and can instruct to the differences.

Absolutely. Auto-pilot flying is quite similar to intel analysis. It's an easy transition.

Not the first time someone has accused me of that. Won't be the last. -
Taxes, the Deficit/Debt, and the Fiscal Cliff
Danny Noonin replied to HeloDude's topic in Squadron Bar
Really? What's with some of the clowns on here demanding footnoted term papers out of other people for every answer? Get off your fucking high horse. If you want knowledge, seek it out yourself. Don't bitch that someone else--on an Internet forum for fucks same--didn't do the work for you. No one owes you anything. -
sweet that it came out after duty hours on a Friday....meaning that people are still in blues on this fine Monday anyway.
-
COMACC issued a supporting policy when the AF policy came out. Don't know about any other MAJCOM. So until that is rescinded, it's technically still a problem in ACC.
-
No, that's not what he said. He said MAJCOMs could make their own call. Not the same thing.

ANG/AFRC Pilot Bonus
Danny Noonin replied to Nineline's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
1. For fuck's sake, stop saying meow. 2. FY13 bonus message is not out right now. I assume there will be one, but then again it's not like there is a problem recruiting or retaining AGRs so who knows, maybe they will catch on to the obvious some day. 3. AGRs, when using it as a plural, has no fucking apostrophe between the "R" and the "s" -

So....everyone except for you has to leave the "religious part" out of it? -
Never claimed to know more about the Marine Corps than you, but I do in fact have a pretty good grasp of what the Marine Corps brings to the fight given what I do for a living right now. What I am suggesting is that we--as a DoD and a nation--are facing tough financial choices and that we can't keep doing everything the way we've always done them, regardless of how long anyone has been around, and regardless of how we would do things in a "perfect world". We just don't have the money. And like it or not, money drives strategy now, not vice versa. While I do not think the Marines will ever lose TACAIR and have zero doubt the the F-35 is a reality for the Marines, I personally think there is a conversation worth having by reasonable, mature, non-parochial adults about whether the JOINT forces can provide the air support the Marines need, instead of requiring that air support to be organic. This nation has an ability to project airpower rapidly and at great distances, so I'm not convinced that the organic option is the only or best option. There certainly are other ways. The requirement to have that air support be organic has a significant cost, and it's more than money. For example, it has resulted in the next primary tactical aircraft for the USN, USAF and USMC being far less capable than it should be in this 5th generation age. It's a new world and everyone has had to adapt to the new reality. The fact that you've been around for a long time and had the same doctrine for a long time does not change that, nor should it. Having said all of that, the train has left the station. Eliminating the USMC version of the F-35 now will not change the absurd design compormises and skyrocketing costs associated with the other two versions. So what I'm saying is that this whole conversation is N/A since, as you said, it's too big to fail now.
-
Oh, ok. So if we're talking about buying extraordinarily expensive things to support our own self-written doctrine, then I'll take another 400 F-22s please. After all, air superiority is item #1 in AF doctrine--and as you are well aware, USMC doctrine requires that as well. We all know that a handful of Harriers in a MAGTF can't provide that and the F-35--while a a technological leap above the Harrier--does not have the ordnance or gas to provide that, let alone the numbers within a MAGTF. So as for identity crisis in the AF, copy shot. There is definitely some validity there. But the USMC might look in the mirror once in a while and what I suspect you'll see is that you ARE a second land army and always will be, regardless of what your doctrine states.
-
Maybe the doctrine is a problem. It may be time for the Marines to rethink the "we must be able to do everything all by ourselves (except drive the boat)" theory that they seem to believe is absolutely vital. I would argue personally that our support of this theory has more than once negatively impacted overall joint capabilities. And joint capabilities--not Marine capabilities--should really be what it's all about.
