  1. There just no pleasing some people. I can't fucking believe how much dudes are whining about what some other dudes were wearing. The right guy got sworn in today. This is a good thing. Keep a little perspective and stop looking for shit to whine about.
  2. Sorry but those IPs are talking out of their asses. There is absolutely zero chance you just get a crossflow fighter through the normal assignment process. I also don't see how you would be considered an ACC asset simply for having flown 38s in UPT.
  3. I'm confused. Which is it? Did USAF leadership let our core missions rot or did they fall on their swords trying not to let our core missions rot? Did they not go "all in" to mission expansions like insatiable ISR CAPs due to incompetence or did they fight the good fight and try to expand in a more measured, sustainable way without gutting core missions?
  4. It was obvious from the beginning. Everyone in the world knew that guy was not a "real viper pilot". He wasn't claiming to be an F-16 pilot. He in fact claimed exactly the opposite by calling it the "fighting falcon". Thus the pointless bowing up by trying to call him out asking him what he flies. So close to making the connection...
  5. Well gee, aren't you Magnum PI.
  6. While you're blaming everyone for you're misery, you are seriously saying that a few O-3 FNGs have somehow managed to be so influential in your squadron that they are taking over and no one has the balls to stand up to them? Really? Ever think that maybe the problem is you?
  7. "we" don't call them vipers. "you" call them vipers. "we" call them fighting falcons, pork falcons, porkers, LGPOS, lawn darts, tinker toys, etc. And how many times are you going to pull this "what do you fly" shit like you're in a dick measuring contest for the insecure?
  8. Pretty sure that is false but not going to look it up to prove it. My understanding is that you have 6 months to use that move.
  9. Depends on where they RON. Amazing how 2 motors and redundant hydraulics always seem to work well enough get out of any bad location.
  10. Not really "Instantly." The passengers on 93 had time to think, consider, plan, logically conclude there was no other option/escape/hope, etc., before they acted. Hardly the same as instantly reacting in the dark, choking on tear gas while being shot at. I think we all (or most of us) would like to think we would have done the heroic thing but the reality is probably more complicated. People were scared, confused, covering their loved ones with their own bodies so as to take any bullets, etc. Would a concealed carry or a group of heroes charging the bastard have changed things? Maybe. I'd like to think so. But at this stage, who is to say that didn't happen and the good guys simply got gunned down trying before they could save the day? I have to believe that out of that entire theater of people (which included several military guys) at least someone had some of the courage the Monday morning crowd here proclaims to have, but that's speculation. I certainly bet if you presented this scenario to the men in that theater in a conversation a week ago most of the men would confidently proclaim they would do whatever it takes to try and take the guy down. But that didn't work out in the real situation obviously. Tragic all around.
  11. Exactly the flawed logic that caused the current policy to exist. The time you spent on a master's degree should be worth nothing. The education you received should be worth something but if you can translate it into improved performance. The problem is that the AF focuses on the time-spent aspect not the performance aspect and looks at master's as symbols of dedication, nothing more.
  12. Well I figured you would have paid attention to all the other threads that degenerated into an airline discussion and I'm one of only a couple guys on this forum that has flown in the airlines, thats why. Plus...I'm kind of a big deal.
  13. Gimme a break. You know I got out, right? You know I was (am) an airline pilot, right? So stop arguing with me like i dont understand the problem or the industry. You think my advice to everyone is to stay in? Take a deep breath, read what I wrote with an open mind, think about how it applies to you and your life, then throw it in your decision matrix however you will. My only point to all of the young pups here spouting off naively about how great life will be in the airlines after you jettison big blue is that life in the airlines is difficult. You traded one set of frustrations for another. there are very few airline guys that recommend the career to young pups anymore. There is a reason for that.
  14. Point being, predictions aren't worth a shit in the airlines. Never have been. Maybe the economy tanks again. Maybe Iran tries to close the straits and oil prices skyrocket. Maybe one of the thousand terrorists that has wanted to blow up another transatlantic flight finally succeeds. Maybe one of the million missing MANPADS in the world shows up as a amoke trail off a boat sitting off the east end of JFK. Maybe a lot of things that could tank that industry something fierce. I'm not trying to scare anyone or tell anyone not to go to the airlines (even though I hate that job). I'm just saying that no one should be overly confident in hiring projections and no one should be confident at all in that industry providing "stability" or a "lucrative" career as some novices would predict. History proves the absolute opposite despite many time periods of "the future is bright" forecasts. The world is littered wih dudes who have had their hearts and wallets broken by the airline industry and 9/11 is only one small part of all that. The 2-3 years of glory pre-9/11 were some of the very few sweet years in the entire history of the airline pilot career field. If you go airlines, I hope you have a long happy career free from drama. Just go in with your eyes open to reality and start saving up for a rainy day...because unfortunately the odds are that a rainy day will come for you. sts.
  15. That's funny. Sounds like EXACTLY the same things guys were saying in the mid to late 90s. Damn near word for word.
  16. Albie (E-coast) is a good shit. Well worth it. You get one shot at the interview. Be prepared. Bro-gouge on the questions is great but Albie helps you frame your *answers* in ways you may or may not have come up with on your own.
  17. Darwinism
  18. Really? You're smarter than this.
  19. How does one qualify for such a "benefits package?" You have to work for at least 20 years. Which to me qualifies as "earning" it. Benefits are part of compensation for work. Compensation--whether in salary or benefits-- is earned.
  20. Age old attempt to save face for people who suck and are afraid to risk washing out or who can't stand the pressure and just pussed out.
  21. You wanna go on a date with your wife to a broadway show or to the ballet or to buy fucking curtains, have fun. But if you come on here and brag about your knowledge of any of those subjects enough to compare and contrast then you're gonna get scorn and ridicule as you would in the bar. The only shows that should be spoken of here involve brass poles.
