No, there is a fighter pilot shortage--a severe one--but it has nothing to do with heavy pilots, crossflow, number of qualified dudes, or any of the reasons dudes are spouting off about here. It's about two things--training capacity in the FTUs and absorption capacity in the ops squadrons. We could take every one of our "overage" heavy pilots and try to cross flow them, but we physically can't. There isn't enough FTU capacity to train them and I can't slam my ops squadrons with new wingmen beyond the level they are already slammed. That's why we have the heavy overage to begin with...we closed about 5 fighter FTU squadrons, closed about another half dozen or more fighter ops squadrons so we were maxed out with what the squadrons that were left could take. There was no place to put any more so they sent more UPT grads into to heavies.

Brady may have signed one too, but there was also a Jumper signed memo.

2014 ROTC Field training length cut short, thoughts on this?
Danny Noonin replied to JBird's topic in ROTC & OTS Lounge
So to summarize...you're a cadet and you have not yet been to field training, yet you feel confident enough in your vast experience to comment on what it takes to succeed at field training, the purpose of field training, how to prepare appropriately for field training, the appropriate length of field training, who should apply to field training, the true purpose of the GMC program, and what constitutes a "high stress" environment. Did I miss anything?- 36 replies

Study: Nuclear Force Feeling 'Burnout' from Work
Danny Noonin replied to M2's topic in General Discussion
You are a total ass clown. Have some SA. This is a forum of aviators, most--but not all--of whom are young. Of course you won't find in-depth understanding of strategic nuclear missile issues with them. So what? And that's really "tiresome" for you? Get a grip. Will I find an in-depth understanding of SEAD, ISR, or airlift in the ranks of CGO missileers? Of course not. So what kind of troll rolls into an internet forum of aviators to blast them for that lack of in-depth understanding or for making "flippant, blow hard comments"? That's what the damn internet is for! Are you new? And given the complete and total clown act that has been the nuclear community lately, I find it particularly curious that you would take that opportunity to go offensive on other communities that have not been in the news lately. You guys are clueless. -

What would you do?....AGR vs ART
Danny Noonin replied to flynutt's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
So... You vote AGR? -
What would you do?....AGR vs ART
Danny Noonin replied to flynutt's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
ART makes sense of you want to stay there long term, fly military long term, be somebody in the reserves (i.e. command a wing or become or O-7+) and/or transition to GS someday after you retire from the mil side. If you think airlines might be in the cards, then being current will be a big deal, which sounds like its questionable for the AGR. Other than that, I'm a big fan of AGR over ART. If you get to 20, you can retire with pension and then move to wherever you want and start a new career while young enough to do so successfully while having an income "cushion" since its tough to make what military officers make straight out of the chute in a civilian job. Being an ART--in my opinion--gives you far less flexibility overall. Many would argue with me though. There is a lot of ART propaganda out here that shows how you can make much more money in retirement as an ART but it requires you to retire as a GS so if your next career is not GS that math goes out the window. Good luck with the decision. -
FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
Danny Noonin replied to AOF_ATC's topic in General Discussion
Stop giving that clown credit. CSAF has been saying this in public for months along with the rest of the GOs. Major Chang gets no credit for merely repeating the PUBLIC statements of GOs. -
FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
Danny Noonin replied to AOF_ATC's topic in General Discussion
1. Wow, you must be omniscient or something. You really knew these programs were coming? You must be a real insider. Stop it. Everyone knew this shit was coming. You get no credit. 2. You are also illiterate. Read what you quoted. The issue wasn't with the surprise that these programs were coming, it was with the Friday afternoon before Christmas-week release of conflicting, useless information about a potential career and life altering program that left these guys stressing with more questions than answers. And all you can say is "when our usefulness expires, so do our careers? Fuck you. Until you A1 clowns can get a grip on the fact that there are real humans involved in each of your little projects, you'll continue to buffoon them by treating everyone as a number merely serving "at the pleasure of our senior leaders". Just like you have every single time something like this has come out. Own it. Own the fact that the A1 world has fucked it up over and over again before. Then maybe you'll stop being so clueless and arrogant when you institute new programs like this. And maybe you won't leave us digging out from the mess you made for years like you have every time before. 3. Why do you not correct these guys when they talk like you are a "senior leader"? You and I both know that you are not, yet you say nothing. There's nothing wrong with not being one, but there is something wrong with letting that misperception go unchecked. Grow a pair. Or does it feed your troll ego to let guys think you are more of a big shot than you really are? -

Not sure where everyone got the idea that this clown was a "senior leader". Liquid is. This guy is not. -

Leave it to you guys to take a great post and ruin it with your Debbie downer the AF sucks routine.

Bellevilles are not the only authorized flight boots, just the cheapest so those are the ones that tend to get issued.

Not necessarily. Rent reflects what the market will bear. It does not necessarily cover the owners mortgage costs let alone tax liability.

Sad that the Guard has come to this...
Danny Noonin replied to Stiffler's topic in General Discussion
If you are a tanker dude, then this may not apply to you. This is an ACC commander policy as the force provider of CAF assets to COCOMs. By the way, guard is part of the ARC (air reserve component). I assume you mean AFRC? -

They're just going to mobilize everyone, volunteer or not. And I think retention will tank. It depends. -

Danny Noonin replied to Stiffler's topic in General Discussion
Sort of. If SECDEF approves it, there will be a test case starting soon at one guard base with a RegAF TFI detachment. The guard wing commander would get title 10 and title 32 authorities to be the legal commander of both the guard and AD guys. If that case goes well "dual status command" could spread. This also means that guard commanders could command RegAF wings someday with the same authorities. And vice versa. It would only happen in TFI units, not in standalone ARC units. Could be a good thing. Could be a bad thing. Time will tell. But once again the ANG bureau is fully on board. Absolutely 100% false. I was in the room. He made it very very clear that he did not agree with AFRC and that he was fully on board. In fact, he went WAY out of his way to make that point. False. It's financial believe it or not. About 15% more cost in MPA to swap out at 90 days and there is no money.
