  1. Disagree...Doha certainly isn't my first choice for cities (or weather for that matter) but shithole may be a little extreme. Anywhere with air conditioning and passable food and satellite TV and people driving Mercedes Benz SUVs does not qualify as a shithole in the grand scheme of the world. As an overseas PCS it's way behind Europe and Japan on my list but for a "deployed location" it's pretty freaking ok.
  2. Plus they're both free if you're an Amazon Prime member. Will have to put Vol. 1 near the top of my list.
  3. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here... This is a joke, how can you say you're an "Expeditionary" anything when you have the wife and kids along for the ride?
  4. I think you meant to have a space in there, but I think this is fitting for this thread...let the wheels continue to spin!
  5. 4 different uniforms, I love it. I think we could come up with a way better list here...
  6. I guess some murders are easier than others.
  7. I know tons of guys who shit on AMU (myself among them) but I'm taking my thesis course for the MA in Military Studies and the thesis length is IVO 20,000 words (i.e. approx. 80 double-spaced pages). That a no-shitter of a paper if I ever saw one...
  8. Short-sleeved blues shirt with all your ribbons, tie with air force symbol tie tac, wheel cap, button-up cardigan, black cowboy boots. That'll show 'em!
  9. I think it has been all along for pilots and has been for CSOs since 2006ish. Tell those guys not to worry, there's plenty of work to go around down here and a lot of dudes are staying on past the typical 3-4 year tour, especially if they want to stay.
  10. Let me google that for you. Click the link from apus.edu for AMU's policy for transfer credits for SOS in res. As a highly-touted Captain (select) you should know how this works...
  11. This was one of my favorite "America, F*ck Yeah!" moments of the Olympics. Good attitude.
  12. Not quite the airframes you asked but I've been gone 43% of my time so far in AFSOC. That's about to get a little bit worse with the new AFSOC-wide deployment changes. The plan on paper is 1:1 with a few exceptions and real life never works out as well as the plan on paper. My buddies in gunships have generally been gone a little less, dudes in MCs more.
  13. May have been posted already, but first time I've seen this trailer. Looks sweet, plus The Most Interesting Man in the World some other guy is the bad guy. Stay thirsty my friends!
  14. Agreed. This one in particular is pretty F-ed up: That guy has some problems...my friend my friend, for you, good price.
  15. That's awesome...name/face recognition is the first step to earning votes! If his girlfriend was indeed cheating on him with Mitt Romney it would be a hell of a step up from the looks of the dude.
  16. He finally got a piece of the pie.
  17. What kind of C-17 mission hinges on the EMSEC considerations that would include a bluetooth device or a GPS puck in the window?? If you're really in hostile airspace, you may need to worry about your C-17-sized rader cross-section before you worry about your bluetooth receiver. Exactly.
  18. Expect Hurlburt UFN. If you want to know if (more like when) Cannon will be an option for U-28s you need to go up the food chain way higher than baseops.net.
  19. Interesting stuff in this article here I hadn't read elsewhere yet. Summary: his Glock has a 40-round mag on top of the 100-round drum on his AR, the AR jammed during the shooting spree, the article calls his body armor "extensive" FWIW, says he started off with the shotgun before moving on to the other weapons.
  20. From page 1 of this thread... Don't worry, I'm pretty sure Gen. Mattis isn't qual'd.
  21. We have successfully conquered both these requirements and it wasn't even hard. Because there's no need to "pay some small business dev company" to totally rework Android if you just use iOS off the shelf and apps that are already available in the Apple app store. We do every function you could want in an EFB with apps that already exist and they work pretty well; as the market increases for military-specific iOS apps then even better choices will be created. Well our unit has no relation to Scott or AMC and I can tell you that the iPad was the best performing option that was tested.
  22. Well they have the "2" in common... U-28s = AFSOC, working for SOF customers exclusively MC-12s = ACC, working for both conventional and SOF customers
