  1. I'll volunteer for the ferry op, so long as I get to take the "south" route. Talk about some GREAT places to RON . . .
  2. Also, somewhat rhetorically, I must ask: what part of Special Tactics don't you understand?
  3. It's OK, dude. They're tougher than you. No need for the small penis syndrome.
  4. The aircraft itself isn't what looks ridiculous, it's all the specs it claims to have. Basically, it's like a christmas list of things for a COIN plane (or hell, for an A-10 replacement!). Might as well claim to loiter at 100 KIAS and also be able to go supersonic . . . with a prop.
  5. man, flying a modern P-51 against the bad guys . . . that would be so awesome!
  6. Yeah, whoever wrote this article obviously has no fvckin clue:
  7. yes, there was a plan at one point to put them on the u-boat. I'm too much of a noob to know the specifics, though. I'm not sure how you'd fire em sideways, though . . . I'm thinking forward, just slew the IR ball etc etc. They'd probably have to be waaaay outboard pylons though - I wouldn't want to risk one going through the prop arc!
  8. I'm all for wearing the bag as much as possible, but I think it's a good idea as a CC to wear the ABU or whatever your troops are wearing from time to time. After all, it's one thing to hear "man, this stupid interior pocket is useless and just makes you hot" or whatever, and it's another thing to experience it for yourself. I don't agree with the touchy-feely argument, but it makes sense to do so in order to understand the issues related with the uniform and therefore be better able to talk about them up the chain.
  9. cool. Now let's put em on the gunship! You can never have too much firepower(though it might be the last straw on our drag index, I guess)
  10. if disbanding TIB even allows one airplane to fly one extra hour for proficiency . . . I'm so for it. Screw that. I don't care if it costs money; put these assholes on the street!
  11. Really? How about that plan to "replace" the A-10 with the F-35? Now I don't think that's "fighter mafia," I think that most fighter pilots disagree with the idea. But it sure as hell wasn't a heavy driver coming up with it . . .
  12. It wasn't the club - though their keg prices sure as hell weren't competitive - it was the commodore. He was hell-bent to make us use the club. As to why we weren't, well, it was July 3 and we figured nobody would be there since they'd be out of town for the 4th. and we were right. Empty as hell. That having been said, it was still a good winging party as we split the tab - and the time - between the club and Tsunami out on the island.
  13. We planned exactly that at Corpus. Then the commodore (WG/CC) took us aside right after we got our wings and hazed the shit out of us . . . threatened to de-wing/captain's mast/etc anyone who got in the least bit of trouble, with repercussions on leadership, etc etc. It was insane. Don't think the assholes in charge won't use their authority illegally to make you use their overpriced, extortionist facilities . . .
  14. Following the recommendations on the board, and a long day at work, I bought a bottle of sailor jerry's and just drank a glass on the rocks. Fantastic. Hard to believe it's 92 proof . . .
  15. Weed sweet tea is massively inferior to Firefly and/or Carolina Sweet Tea if any of y'all are familiar; also, it is 0% Weed in the traditional sense (tastes like fvck etc.) HOWEVER, it's half the price of its competitors and tastes alright. Pick your poison.
  16. I disagree. If it doesn't help me kill people, I don't freakin care. I signed up to bear arms, not be a gay-ass toy soldier. If that's your bag, fine, but don't bring it on me.
  17. 11-402, yeah that's it. What he said.
  18. I'll post the reference when I have more time, but you should check again on that one, stract. Jump wings aren't aeronautical badges (11-401, I believe, is where that's spelled out)
  19. I assume you have the documentation to prove it? Then wear em. I went to Army Airborne and I had some shoes give me the same song-and-dance about 36-2903 and 11-401 (btw, they kinda contradict each other) and I just wore em. I've never had anyone question me since I commissioned. Not to mention I think it's official since I turned in the certificate to Flight Records when I got to UPT . . .
  20. yeah man - if you didn't make eye contact or something, I'd say you're in the clear; 50 feet or whatever is way farther than the minimum to acquire the target etc. But if you make eye contact with somebody ranking you . . . salute. Even if it's way far. That having been said, that O-6 should have just had a conversation with you about such, not haze you. Obviously, it's kinda hazy in the reg, and that would be a good opportunity to develop a new 2Lt rather than make them bitter.
  21. awkward, yes, however I find that "always return a salute. ALWAYS." is good guidance. Not that I'm particularly experienced, but it's never done me wrong.
  22. mambo, I assume you're talking about the LIT VOR-A? This is a story I wanna hear . . .
  23. I'll give you that, you're about 25% correct. It's not a uniform that matters to me, it's getting the job done. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, CIA, Blackwater . . . I'll play for any team in the book, the goal is the mission/serving/etc. I'll wear a flightsuit, BDUs, a hawaiian shirt . . . it doesn't matter. I'll leave the garrison toy-soldiering to folks like you; I've checked that block. By the way, all that crap you quote about Frederick the Great and all? Seeing how often you use the term "soldiers" in this thread, I'm assuming you have some sort of Army background. Ever notice how every single Army CoC has some different tradition they quote, tracing the exact same pass-the-guidon ceremony back to the freakin crusades or something? Yeah. Ever stop to think if any of it's actually true?
  24. GoAround, you just don't know when to stop digging your hole, do you? Bottom line: 99%(everyone here but you) is concerned 100% with killing bad guys and supporting our bros that do. FGO Dipshit's CoC, whatever benefits it may have for heritage/tradition/his ego, DOESN'T FREAKIN MATTER!!! In addition, it's an enormous risk due to previously discussed "troops in the open, fire for effect" opportunity for the bad guys. besides, we're the Air Force. What the hell do we know about tradition? We trash it at every opportunity that doesn't help some GO or CMSgt's latest pet project . . .
  25. Dude, I hope it's just that my sarcasm detector is code 3 today, but are you friggin serious?!?!? Screw this "recognition" crap! As was said before, it's MUCH more important to keep killing and NOT be the biggest mortar target in 6 times zones! Holy hell. And "small stuff" my ass - if a single US Soldier dies during this idiotic ceremony, that's on our hands for not providing the max CAS support!
