  1. Hows about not having a stupid PT "uniform" at all. I can't believe an official PT uniform even exists much less that in the AOR (or anywhere for that matter) people are worked up about people having a shirt tucked in when they are working out or running. Unfrickenbelievable!
  2. Reading that made me immediately think that if he had even had any bit of humanity he would have arranged for each of you guys up front to get a joyride in the OA-37 and you would have considered him a good guy for the rest of your careers. If I had been the general I would have made sure I threw something to you guys just to say thanks and to show you the AF appreciates her human assets. It wouldn't have cost him a dime and would have had a positive impact on you guys for years!!
  3. Yes, definitely. He also painted the picture so well I felt like I was in the seat with him. I was breaking a sweat reading the book sitting in my air conditioned home.
  4. Excellent read. Made me proud of the guys who fought in and around Viet Nam. I was too young to serve there, but I grew up in Taiwan and decided to become an AF pilot because of the guys I met and idolized as they came to CCK for R&R or depot maintenance for their jet. I knew I wanted to fly in the AF when I saw the 4 ships of F-105s come screaming over my elementary school near CCK. TacAirlift - I don't remember if it was you who recommended it but I just finished reading Flying Through Midnight and it was excellent as advertised.
  5. C-21 and Tracy managed to raise my blood pressure even higher. I told myself to stop reading this topic (couldn't resist though). Man what a numbnuts!!!
  6. Each post has pissed me off a little more but this one was my limit. Man that dude deserves a serious throttling. I wish one of the senior generals when he was making his way up the ranks had stomped him back down to where he belonged. After reading all of the posts (and even if only half of what has been written is true - not implying anybody lied or exaggerated) ole Doc made it several steps above where the peter principle said he should have ended up. What a jerk off!!!
  7. Not sure what the computer situation is there but you could try Skype or one of the other VoIP programs. Then it's free if it's computer to computer call and only 2 cents a minute if it's computer to land line. You will need a microphone/headset on each end. You can even do video conferencing for almost as cheap if you both get web cams.
  8. The student's IP should be smacked.
  9. Great post. Sounded a lot like what my first SQ/CC would have said.
  10. Man, you guys are bumming me out. There were times when I was in that I thought we had some petty stupid rules but man the Spang and McGuire guys take the cake in the stupid petty rules category. I'd wear what I want and wait to see how hot it got. We used to wear Red/Green SAC patches during the month of December. Guard and other non-approved patches anytime we went TDY and sometimes when I was home station just for fun. On alert we had all kinds of (unofficial, rude and sometimes crude) patches we would wear for the week. I wish the SQ CCs would man up as well and tell the boss he is full of crap (diplomatically of course).

As much as I love soccer, I'll agree with your statement HerkBum. I do wish they would throw more cards at those pansies faking injury all of the time. In Asia we didn't have as much of that crap as they seem to have in South America, Italy and Spain. Not sure what is up with that other than they think they will get away with it (which they seem to) and gain a competitive advantage. The refs are supposed to watch for that and penalize when they dive!!

Anybody else watching and enjoying the soccer currently being shown on ESPN? I grew up in Pakistan and Taiwan so played soccer my whole life and really love it when we get some good soccer on ESPN. I personally think Croatia was screwed with the extra time in their game/match against Turkey. But how can you not be excited about Turkey and their 3 come from behind victories so far. If you like soccer you've no doubt enjoyed some great soccer so far!
  14. I know this is kind of an old topic but here's a quick story from 1991. One of the guys I was stationed with in Plattsburgh and temporarily assigned to the 1703 ARW during Gulf War I decided to grow a mustache while he was deployed. I think he got to the desert in late August and by the time I showed up in early January (the next year) he had a huge push-broom just above his mouth. That stache was the biggest, thickest stache I have ever seen in person. It was huge and made Gen. Old's mustache look like a milk mustache. Whenever Fitz walked into a building everyone would just stop what they were doing and stare. It was classic and our SQ/CC let him keep it until we rotated home (he had to shave it before he reported to duty after getting back home). Our wing commander was less than impressed when we rotated home and one of his pilots jumped out of the airplane looking like Artur Jorge. (I was going to post a picture of Artur but couldn't get it to load right). Fitz had more hair but the mustache was pretty similar.
