It’s a European jobs program. Very disorganized, built to provide jobs, not capes. Brit version is ok, the older tranches have big issues. If it were 1995, it’d be a great A/A asset. In 2021, at +100m per jet with a mech scan radar, low A/G capes, well, it’s just not competitive. The only thing keeping it alive is export sales (Kuwait, Qatar, etc). Hell of a kinetic performer though. 25 years too late. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Yes, 4+ Gen, even 4th legacy paired with 5th Gen has potential. I’m a Critic of jets like the EF2K that provide 4th Gen capes at 5th Gen prices. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

What mission are you looking to do? I’ll probably be able to argue why a block 30 viper could do it fine -or- why you need a 5th Gen fighter instead. Lots of 4th Gen + airframes like the Eurofighter which are still rolling off the line yet completely unsuitable for either the low end or high end mission. The simple fact is, our partners won’t buy it because their Air Force are for show/pride. The AT-6 is loads more capable than say a Eurofighter in CAS or light attack but you’ll find Europeans buying EF2Ks because they make noise and go fast. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

We can fight the low end fight today. The F-15X is a jobs program to keep Boeing defense afloat so they can/will compete with designs later. If I were buying 4+ jets, it’d be more f-16s that can do multi role the cheapest. As for what we have now: An experienced F-16 guy told me they should just make most F-16s A/G only and stop supporting their old radars as they have no role in modern A/A. However with modern A/G weapons, old block 30s perform A/G terrific. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Yeah man, I’m in the same boat. Never wanted to fly for airlines but as I see my USAF career winding down, the ease of cash for work involved is enticing. I’m staying in past 20 just because I’m having fun. No strings attached, the USAF can’t deploy me, can’t PCS me without my vote. So as an O-5, no bonus, it’s gotta be worth ~$150k to make me stay. And it is. I fly a few times a week, have a real officer job that wasn’t my choice but I put 5hrs a week into it maybe? Goals, wants, desires greatly differently. You probably know what you already will do, as long as you are informed. My take on being a commander...where and for who matters greatly as well as the mission. Sone places you can really make a difference. Other places you can’t. So factor that in. Will you be leading a squadron with a goal, or just an interim manager and what did that cost? That old guy probably figured using his age as and excuse he could disobey orders, start touching the police (you libtards would be screaming assault if tables were turned). Police didn’t use excessive force...he couldn’t handle a small shove and it’s plausible he over acted and self-injured himself in the process. Stay at home old man!! Didn’t his leftist friends tell him if the police weren’t going to get him, the virus would. Root cause....stupidity. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

I think he may still be a reservist at the 76th FS at Moody. He was in the retired reserves and I know he was flying recently. If not, call the 76th and they’ll know how to contact him. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Investment showdown -- beyond the Roth, SDP, & TSP

Stock question: a few years back when oil prices tanked, I bought a myriad of oil funds dirt cheap. A few went bankrupt. I never declared the losses when it happened 2 years ago, can I retroactively declare the loss to offset my capital gains even after 2 years? Watched WW84 with the fam on HBOMAX. My opinion, 5/10, worth watching but if I’d have paid money to see this in the theater, I would have been disappointed mainly with what I thought was a crappy story. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Rural Living, Self Sustainment, No Urban Weirdos, and such...
di1630 replied to filthy_liar's topic in Squadron Bar
What are your family demographics and how “rural” do you call rural? I live in the suburbs in a planned community but I also have a rural farm I spend time at. My kids have parks, neighbor kids their age and a pool to access and top notch schools. I grew up on a farm, 7 miles from a small town which was 30 miles from a medium city. Loved it but it has changed in the 20+ years. There are pluses and minuses in regards to schools, social outlets and activities. I take my kids from the city to the farm as much as I can to let them experience the freedoms of rural living and I may move there full time eventually. Not yet though. With 90%+ accuracy, I bet anyone on this board could walk into an AF sq and pick out the unhealthy/hi risk of PT failure. We know the difference between the short stalky athletic dude that has the same waist as the the potbelly middle-aged NCO who hasn’t seen his d-ck in the last decade. We know the people in flight suits who are “bingo Velcro” and timing out. This is all just a metric for our leadership to have a leg up stand on the undeployable fatties who sadly just have loopholed the system anyhow. I broke 2x toes a while back and stood in line with all the other waivered gimps who were all a bunch of fat-bodies looking to not fail on account of their hung toenail. Yeah there is the occasional fit pilot who fails but like I said...90%+accuracy we could predict just by looking Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

I’m very informal, but: If he’s not a pilot and wearing pilot wings, I’d rip them off his suit and tell him to report to the DO and chew his ass. And if I saw a pilot let an aircrew tell them how to fly, I’d get the f-ck off that plane because no pilot worth a sh-t allows that to happen. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

The shoe clerks are staying in. I know a LOT of shoes that haven’t had to go to work for months and so their 30 min of email from home each day while getting a paycheck. Pilots, maintainers and others actually still have to work. But I know a lot of pilots who aren’t separating as covid dashed their airline plans. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

I did a lot of night overheads and 15 degree night SFO’s were standard when I was on exchange in Europe. As were night form t/o and landings. I imagine USAF quit in the 80’s or so. Just a guess. UPT based do night overheads to get pattern reps but the IP flies the pattern and SP gets the jet on final, Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Confirmed based on my observation: 69%+ of leftists who were miserable before the election are still miserable after, filling social media with profanity filled rants about their daily woes. Self-Victimization is a tough habit to break. And Hillary’s still not president. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

The same people who were miserable behind their keyboards for 4 years with TDS - Trump derangement Syndrome will soon be the same miserable victims with BDS - Biden Disappointment Syndrome. If the GOP keeps the senate, the dem infighting will be fun to watch. Very few campaign promises met, sets up the right for gains in 2024. The beta males and 2/10 feminists who were calling us all (on the right) racists and sexists will be miserable....still. And now we don’t have to hear about BLM or other statistically retarded causes for a while. The blue wave never happened. Not a bad election. Cheer up, it could be Hillary’s second term. Damn Huggy, did you follow the concrete arrows along your XC route? My grandad told me about them. All kidding aside, I’ve been on f-ed up flyovers. Even porked one myself (I’ll blame the anthem singer). But I’ll stand by my argument that nailing a TOT has very little training value for fighters in 2020. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

Yeah, it’s pretty damn rough with INS/GPS to hit an uncontested TOT these days. I say we dedicate missions to it..maybe a phase. Reminds me of the time in the ‘stan, there I was, EGI failure...no sh-t...checking my g-shock watch hoping I had the skills to make that TOT to the tanker +\- 10 min with quartering headwinds so strong, I had to wind correct.
