I think it’ll be community specific and based off manning. If you want to fly and there is a shortage in your community/ at your base, just be honest about your flying/career goals. Generally the price for promotion is to give up flying. Vice versa, flying a lot will hurt your long term promotion viability. In the Fighter world currently, a non-HPO O-5 can fly as much as a Capt if they want to and stay proficient in squadron needs because we are undermanned. A few weeks back I was visiting my parents in a state where MJ is legal and after dinner I grabbed for an artisan caramel I saw. Luckily my sister saw me because it was her edible MJ and stopped me. Anyone else get pinged by leadership as to why they didn’t sign/renegotiate? I was considering renegotiating from my current 25k to 35k but this year they reduced the renegotiated amount to 25k which buys me nothing except commitment. Yeah, we’ll, that’s because we spent a lot of time teaching stuff that dudes had to be proficient in at UPT but never really need in real life. Number of times I’ve needed to do a formation landing in 3,500 hours of mil flying....ZERO. Granted, it’s all good stuff to have experience with but a lot of it is low likelihood contingency items, great to be familiar/safely able, not necessary to be masterful. This goes beyond UPT. Call me full of sh-t if you like but go visit the AOR, it’s PGMs and BOC 99% of the time. I can get a wingman to a CR level in 2019 much quicker than I could in 2005 and the reason is technology. I think it’s a bit higher with a “p” in the range of 45% however my point remains. If you are one of the people not destined to make O-5 even with a P, you are not in the running for school. Back in ‘07 timeframe I remember when I supported the COIN mentality wondering why we wanted so many -22’s. 12 years later I eat my words. We’ve seemed to learn nothing, still bogged down in the Stan. Still have supersonic A/A fighters and low level swept wing supersonic bombers spinning holes instead of light attack. A lot of criticism from many corners back then was based on the belief we had competent decision makers elsewhere. 1. Undesirable attached jobs go to O-4’s 2. PCS’s will happen regardless 3. 365, O-4’s are same boat. 4. Simple, don’t apply for the CC list 5. School? Don’t apply/decline. There are a LOT of O-5’s flying the line because of the experience shortage. It’s awesome. If you are a pilot, especially an 11F, the USAF needs you more than you need it. Received this email today: “The DoD Consolidated Adjudications Facility (CAF)’s current legal position is that ownership of marijuana stocks is considered involvement in drug-related activities and would be a "reportable incident" under the Continuous Evaluation process. OUSDI is currently drafting implementation guidance of the Security Executive Agent Directive (SEAD) 3, Reporting Requirements for Personnel with Access to Classified Information or Who Hold a Sensitive Position. Among other reportable activities required by SEAD3, the memo will address reporting requirements for covered individuals with financial investments or holdings in companies who sell or manufacture schedule I substances legally under state law. While the DoD CAF is currently working on guidance that will address marijuana-based investments, previous guidance issued by the CAF remains effective. Marijuana-based investments are considered a reportable incident and should be reported via the SF86C through the Unit Security Assistant to the IP Office and we will submit to the DoD CAF. We will keep you informed of any changes or updates from the DoD CAF or OUSDI regarding this subject matter. Highly likelihood of exploiting things/topics for political leverage. And until I get details, I’m always skeptical of what = rape/assault/harassment in 2019. I drove some libs nuts one evening during a Kavanaugh debate where I recounted my story of being grabbed and forcibly kissed by a girl while in a drunken state thus making me by their definition 2 min prior, a victim of assault.
