  1. Anyone know the ramifications of PCSing from OCONUS with an unpaid parking ticket on NATO plates? Normally I’d pay but they ticketed me while I was waiting at the machine to buy the ticket. Considering just ignoring it but don’t want to get bit during PCS. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  2. Look, if you think the USAF could be your key to happiness and fulfillment, it’s not. Expectation management. My USAF career has been nothing like I envisioned when I was in ROTC but back then I was dumb and naive. I learned real quick that my expectations were built on false pretenses. I haven’t always been happy in my 17 years of flying in the USAF but for me it was definitely worth it. Some might have followed my same career path/assignments and been really disappointed. Others ecstatic. “Worth it” is 100% subjective. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  3. I’m just gonna try to post something here every time I’m bored sitting top-3. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  4. Agreed, not a war. A lot of other things: monumental waste of resources among them tops my list. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  5. My sortie got canx’d and I’m bored, no pics of boobs on my phone but hoping if I restart this 6.9yr old thread maybe some of you have additions. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  6. I will be in the same boat. But the SFAR seems clear to me. The avg FSDO guy doesn’t understand the difference between deployment/OS so I plan to have a memorandum stating I “was assigned overseas as part of a military operation” which is vague but true. 7. I actually got that from work but word of advice: unless you are a F-15C pilot, don’t search for “helicopter gay” in google. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  8. I respect helos, that being said, I’m a fighter guy so here ya go. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  9. No you can’t. I bet with the millennials running things in the age of metoo, UPT is an absolute blast. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  10. So WTF actually happened at Laughlin to cause this purge? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  11. I’m pretty sure 3rd year pilot pay at the majors outpaces GO pay. Why anyone stays in the USAF to lead is beyond me. It’s like trying to be “king turd of sh-t island” Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  12. 100% correct. It pains me to see people thinking feedback is the problem. If you receive honest feedback that you need to improve, you are not on the path and never were. Honest feedback is reserved for counseling chosen ones on how to maintain their path. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  13. This seems pretty cut and dry. If you transfer, you’ll pick up 4 yrs ADSC. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  15. My guess is that new guidance comes out by Nov when AFPC starts matching the summer VML. Latest by Jan when I think all the assignments will be doled out and people need to make their decision. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  16. So true. Listen dudes, if you are at your 10-12 year mark and you don’t know you are a HPO or you don’t have a special patch on your arm, you are most likely a needs of the USAF body/AFPC spreadsheet number. That doesn’t mean you can’t have some kickass assignments and decent gigs, it just means that if you have big career dreams or ideas of leadership grandeur, you will probably be disappointed. You will often find yourself working twice as hard for less results and if it comes down to a good deal between you and your patch/HPO counterpart, you will lose whether you were the right guy/gal or not. Just keep it in mind when you are offered that bonus or ADSC extending assignment vs a chance for guard/reserves. I’m always amazed at the guys I’ve seen neglecting their personal lives/families trying to gain favor with Big Blue when in reality their career fate was sealed years prior...just nobody told them. 17. Love watching all social media reactions on Kavanaugh. The most satisfying are the ladies talking about white male privilege interspersed with their discussion of how spinning classes and shopping will take their minds off this horrible injustice while they are supported financially by their white male husbands out doing jobs. 18. C’mon, everyone knows this cannot be proven or disproven 100% and I don’t think the dems overall objective was ever to really assure he would not get appointed. They are trying to get the emotion going for females into the mid terms by painting the GOP as rich white males who don’t care about women. That’s what makes this whole thing political. If the tables were turned, the dems would be defending their nominee and republicans conjuring up Bill Clinton 2. That’s why this issue is polarized along party lines. The people who think he’s guilty “surprise” have a leftist political agenda. It doesn’t help that in 2018, 96.9% of women fit the definition of an assault or rape survivor but the dems need that victim hood to get people to vote. It’s why they preach to every minority group etc that they are victims of the evil GOP. In reality they are just pawns being used by the dems. I consider myself independent but the dems truly disgust me. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  19. NS, I assume you are talking about the PCS ADSC. What if they send you to a TX that extends you well past your bonus ADSC or retirement eligibility date. You can 7 day opt correct, set your date of separation as the end of your current ADSC and then, it is up to the USAF what to do with you. I don’t think they can force you to accept a longer ADSC. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  20. The big question is the status of your community needs vs your quals. If you 7 day opt a PCS the USAF will most likely keep you at your base where you’ll serve at the “needs” of your community, or PCS you and waive the ADSC if they need you bad enough at that base. I’ll be real curious next VML to the non-current people who have to choose between the new 3 yr requal adsc and 7 day opting. Will they be re qual’d and ADSC waived or sent to a 2yr ALO gig in El Paso if they 7 day opt to avoid the ADSC. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  21. “But she was anonymous originally!” Maybe she figured like many libs that it’d never get to an investigation because in 2018 an allegation would get . The dems sat on this so long, I think maybe they even had little faith in the truth only saving it as a last ditch. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  22. Yeah but let’s get real: -If you aren’t happy flying a F-16, it is doubtful you’d be happy in a C-5 or anything else. -If your wife is unhappy at a fighter base with the ton of support that comes with it, she’d doubtfully be happy at a C-5 base or anywhere else. -Your life as a fighter guy is more stable than a heavy guy. If you want stability, go teach at UPT...BUT, pretty much all those bases are worse than any fighter or C-5 base or anywhere else...well maybe AFSOC. Two life tips: first, I’d plan for your exit from the fighter community and or the usaf ASAP if you and your family are miserable. It will only get worse of you aren’t enjoying it when it’s new. Second, and I hate to be saying this but if you are having marital frustrations now, really evaluate things. Like the USAF, it’s only going to get worse if you aren’t enjoying it when it’s new. You can blame location, jet, schedule etc for your woes and always be waiting for a greener pasture with work/family balance, but I’ve found that people who enjoy the USAF and marriage are the types who will make the best of it no matter what the circumstances. 23. Geezus, reading the new millennial snowflakes who are a notch below my generation of S.N.A.P.s complain because they “heard it on the internet” makes me want to flog myself for the 17 yrs of sport bitching. Bottom line to you new guys: the USAF could solve everything we complain about today and tomorrow we would be on here complaining about something new. “Hot pits? Why can’t we just hit a tanker?” “BFM again!! That’s 3x this week and my neck hurts!” “I only got to shoot 200 rounds on the range but capt Xxxx got 250...what a screw job!” “They capped my unrestricted climb at 10k...f-ing ATC” “Can you believe I got sh-t for not using my gov’t cc? Can’t believe I had to fly a fighter across the US, stay on the strip in Vegas then put up with this BS where I don’t get my reward points.” “Speeding on base ticket? SF guy just wishes he was a pilot and taking it out on me.” “Yearly FOD walk on a down day? Don’t they know I’m a f-ing pilot...let’s hide in the bar and drink coffee with booze instead at 8am.” “You have a problem with my patch that says “f-ck”?? I bet you never even saw the patchy shop in Korea you GD nonner shoeclerk” “Bud Light...WTF is wrong with Lt’s these days. I pay a solid $6 per month for unlimited beer and this is what I get? Back when I wAs LPA...” Yeah there’s a ton to bitch about and even the coolest parts of the job get repetitive and the fun wears off. It’s still the greatest job in the world. If you are lucky enough to do it, save your saltiness for when you have a reason. Even then your job will be better than 96.69% of the rest of society...you’ll just be like the rest of us: entitled pro sport bitchers who don’t get paid enough, respected enough etc. Things are looking up kids, and nobody owes you a thing at this point in your career...you are lucky to be here. 24. I made the mistake of engaging some lovely ladies on social media who were talking about Kavanaugh’s guilt. I simply asked their process for concluding his guilt and if they accepted he “might” be innocent. It quickly devolved into a man-hating session and the best they could do is “she must be telling the truth and you are a white-male a-hole if you don’t believe her.” This is politics as usual from the left...completely reliant in ignorance and emotion to push an agenda. 25. Anytime I hear “diversity” and “retention” in the same short speech, it reinforces to me that talk is hollow and even though these people “may” understand the root causes of poor retention, politics reign supreme and they’ll say whatever makes them look good.
