  1. Sims are superior for training in many ways but you can’t replicate the “skin in the game”for deconfliction, maneuvering in IMC etc. I take many risks in the sim I wouldn’t while in the MOA. A companion trainer could bridge the gap. No its not 100%, but if I could get even 50% value at 5% of the cost, it’s still a win. I’ve flown trainers with built in simulation and was very impressed. 2. Heard it was nothing mission related but possibly turning a blind eye to inappropriate relations before his command that are now just coming out. Rumor though Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  3. It’s interesting to me that somewhere a T-6 sq is pinching pennies and in 5th gen land the waste is just incredible. 18 hrs in a T-6 = 1 hr in an F-35. Give me a T-6 with some displays that simulate F-35 systems and I could save the USAF millions per year guaranteed. But the dinosaurs in charge measure effectiveness by hours flown and FHP close out. 4. I don’t think you’ll need to wait that long. I think in 5 years maybe less we’ll do 50% of training (tactical stuff) in sims and 50% part task training in the jet. They are building JSE at Edwards, Nellis and Alaska and it will improve massively in the short term. Biggest obstacle is dinosaur leadership that focuses on quantity over of flying vs quality. 5. I hear the b model in hover mode can be very disorienting in imc. No idea the details or phase of flight but with an auto recovery switch and auto gcas, I think if this person punched for spatial d in a panicky moment there might get a training deficit. 8. You can read unclass plenty of sources in the future Im referencing if you have an open mind to change. I’d start with Army long range hypersonics, check out open source space capes, read up on adversary capes. Sone interesting naval stuff as well. Brabus is right on this probably reaching the end of conversation on some levels but lots of open source out there to get you thinking. Reminds me of when my PAS in ROTC who was a F-4 pilot got upset that I wrote a paper on computers replacing the need for WSO’s. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  9. Meh, Russian weapons shot down an airliner in 2014 with zero European response….I have little faith that Europeans have any stomach for war or escalation. Even the Brits. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  10. Other than hogs, does any fighter community even train to those skills anymore? I get it and I knew my post would rile people up. Try telling an ex viper pilot that their BFM foundation was for nothing or a hog guy that they’ll never get close enough to use their 30MM or better, call the F-22 a legacy platform for some good responses. Not debating fighters will be around a long time. Just that their role will diminish as better/cheaper/safer options are fielded. And they are being fielded.
  11. Haha, I knew I’d get a few riled up here. Brabus is correct, the last fighter pilot hasn’t been born. That doesn’t mean that last fighter pilot will be as relevant and necessary as they once were. There is a reason raptors are retiring in 10 yrs, NGAD will be procured small in numbers and the F-35 but will be cut drastically from original #’s and it has to do with things like hypersonic artillary and new tech that does the job of the fighter cheaper/better/with less risk. 12. In actuality, the usaf probably doesn’t need as many pilots as it thinks it does. We are stuck in an outdated model. Fighters especially just aren’t probably as necessary today as a few years back. We have better, cheaper options. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  13. Oh this stuff is still alive and well and going on currently with an off the street direct to Fighters (go guard) hire. Poor flying performance and poor attitude to boot? Solution is to preemptively become the victim of the system. Basically untouchable at that point. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  14. Don’t worry about not having the flying credentials of your peers….the USAF doesn’t care much about your actual flying resume. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  17. From one of those background sites, I assume this is her as Crossville TN isn’t super large.. Born 1951 Enlisted at age 24 (1975)….must’ve done UPT on an age waiver in her 30’s…flew vipers in her 40’s, helos in Afghanistan in her 50’s. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  18. Is she wearing OCPs in that pic? Probably found them at goodwill Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  19. You wash out of ACC training you go an FEB and reassigned to ACC aircraft like AWACS or something usually Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  20. Weird bio. First female fighter pilot was in 1993. The mask she’s wearing in the viper pic wasn’t in service until late 90’s….then to cross train to helos and get promoted to colonel? Valid to question this. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  21. Not to demean but have you ever been briefed on Raptor, F-15EX, F-35 capes to actually know the hierarchy and comparison of what jets are most capable and should be “feared” in missions sets? I find a lot of fanboys talk of the A-10 and F-22 among others and don’t know anything outside airshow hype. And I wouldn’t expect NGAD in the guard in the next 15+ years if ever. 22. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say 80% of USAF claims are natural aging related. Maybe more. Hard for me to believe that sitting behind a desk leaves so many shoe clerks disabled. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  23. I get that there are legit claims like the viper dudes with neck issues etc. But I have people openly talking about making BS claims for financial gain like its no big deal. Funny that some of the most fiscal conservative “welfare queen” critics will brag about getting 100%, a pension and still fly airlines. Not I how I think it was intended. I’ve been through the process. 20% for a titanium spinal bridge with and ejection seat waiver, lifetime pain management, actually giving up my sports and hobbies. That’s not close to what you can get for claiming allergies. I no kidding know a guy who did 8 yrs active duty as enlisted support. On a deployment he saw (or said he saw) dead marines being brought back to base and says it inflicted ptsd. He’s getting 100% and moved to TX to get full advantage. And that’s not too uncommon. I saw a mx officer openly solicit advice on FB last week on how to maximize her claim. Scammers and opportunists are taking it away from people who really need it. 24. Honestly surprised this wasn’t exposed sooner but it was politically unpopular during the GWOT. I had a civilian buddy that sells mortgages ask me about it after he saw healthy people applying for loans but claiming disability. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
