Pentagon to increase CAPs from 61 to 90 by 2019

Do you still wear the pressure suit with CARE? Or is it just kind of a safety net.
-
You're not going to get an ATP after only flying drones....
-
Isn't that what's already going on this year? Lots of units right now are getting 100% must-fill RPA billets. But with the 2nd/3rd assignment pilots, their commitments are coming up in a few years and they have no intention of staying.
-
Wasn't around when that happened, what made it worse than the current situation?

Link?

Sooooo why are currently a lot of communities' must-moves going 100% RPAs, and none are coming from UPT? Not even volunteers? Do you want bad retention? Because that's how you get bad retention.

Kind of sounds like whining to be honest. Don't like less than a 1:5 dwell? Find another job. Supply/demand dictates everything, no one is entitled to sit here in a "good deal" lifestyle.

That guy doesn't even count, his position excludes him from being a valid data point.

You forgot the old "I totally got screwed over" quote

Just saw this, and it's absolutely as bad as it looks. Maybe worse. Recommend to go see it "with the guys" though, for some of the most ironically funny shit to laugh at and make fun of. There are some memorable 1-liners.....

Remind me why we're still saluting in a combat zone? This year dudes even got stood up and yelled at by certain group leadership for not saluting a general on the flightline. For a period of time our step brief included "Make sure to salute O-6 and above on the flightline", which ops sups had to waste time covering before crews stepped to their combat mission. Every other month the biggest threat has proven to be the insider threat. Maybe it's time to scale back frivolous protocol over there? /rant

Honestly it's up to the individual to call it based on how they feel, and of course the specific number set by the regs isn't going to fit every situation 100% of the time. I've slept 12 hours and flew like dogshit (hadn't flown in awhile and wasn't feeling it from the beginning). On the other hand, after flying 8 days in a row, I got 4 hours of sleep while sick and flew my best mission (and saved 15 lives on the ground). High ops tempo and I knew I felt fine.

Another Malaysian 777 Crash (assuming the first one did crash)

Since the black box always survives, they should really just make the entire plane out of the same material. -

And here we have the CNN "experts" suggesting we should arm all passenger jets with countermeasures: https://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2014/07/21/tsr-dnt-todd-missile-technology-for-planes.cnn.html -
How does a PTSD diagnosis affect an air force pilot's career these days? (very mild PTSD that would not be affecting job performance at all)

Is the system down right now? I can log into AFPC but when I select ADP I get an error. There's a notice about some other stuff being unavailable on the left. Great time to take the system offline, when 100% of the officers in a certain program just got a short term VML notice.

Nice try, comm sq

Yesterday a deployed member in Afghanistan got an LOA for hands in pockets. You probably think I'm joking. You probably think there are additional extenuating circumstances I left out. Nope. Pretty much the tip of the iceberg of shit going on right now.

The live NTSB conference going on right now (https://video.foxnews.../1155606216001/) sounds like this exact thing happened.

I am pretty sure a full on CG shift way out of limits would be impossible to recover from no matter how many times you practice it in the sim. Only theoretical way to regain control is to move the cargo or move the wings, both impossible in this situation. MAYBE the plane could be put in a bank so instead of stalling straight up you are pulling a constant turn, but even then you're stuck in a giant slip attitude and probably aren't landing in one piece. The only situation I've heard of that recovery being used for is if the elevator control cables break and the elevator falls to a constant pitch up position (I believe it happened in a T-1 and instructors only practice this in the sim).

I've plugged everything into https://www.nytimes.c...calculator.html and every way I look at it, I'm saving MUCH more money buying instead of renting over the time we are going to be here. I don't NEED to pull money out of an IRA, as I stated before, I was just unsure whether it is a good idea to take advantage of the tax-free house payment withdrawal feature that is frequently touted about everywhere you read about Roths, or better to pull the money out of my non-IRA funds (which are still long-term mutual funds). I don't keep a down-payment worth of money in my checking account as that would be stupid. I decided to go with a conventional mortgage over VA because in the market I'm trying to buy in, I've found that I'm competing with 5-6 offers per house, and conventional always wins over VA. Also USAA got me an insanely low APR on my conventional pre-approval (lower than VA).
