What an amazing read. Sometimes being on this site too much makes my head spin with "Did I make the right decision" questions, but this speech hits home and I remember why I'm here. (158 days)
I gotta think the airline wouldn't let any passengers that were actively bleeding from their faces onto the airplane. Maybe a couple of first class passengers needed some bloody noses.
Just throwing this out there... yesterday at work my coworker had to call our campus at Mt Home... The guy from the campus mentioned that there is a rainbow sticker on the case of the computer... I thought of this thread and nearly shot coffee out my nose. Is there something in the water up there?
allow myself to quote myself....
I just listened to that. Sucks that he held out on the go-around. I can see where that would be a tough place to try and go around. But even a worse place to crash.
The main point I was trying to make here is that they're teaching that it's not about the mission, it's about whether or not you made everybody feel included in the process. It was one of those times where I got a deep gut feeling like an injustice was being done. Should I have talked back... nope. Do I still feel like they're teaching fresh officers that making their peers feel good about themselves is more important than hacking the mission... yes.
I got chewed for questioning the system at FT when I brought up how screwed up it was that mission completion on the LRCs was only like 1 point out of 100. I realize that pales in comparison with the Ops/Mx vs Finance/Etc situation, but notice how they're being taught at a young age to not care about the mission, but only care about how you make your teammates feel.
Didn't mean to thread hijack, but I recall a certain document allowing for federal common defense and promoting general welfare... This just seems like robbing one to pay for an obscured view of the other.
Yeah, I hope to God that's just a couple of trolls, if not, I'm never going shopping in NY. Did you make it to the end? The Mods there pulled a classic "prentend to be one of them" to get them to stop.
@ Zerohour, our Cadre agreed to adjust the schedules to reduce ppwk time this year, in the past it has always been a 4+ hour ordeal. Not sure if ya'lls is that bad, but I've got some ideas to help out if so. (I'm a 400 at ERAU-DB)
