That’s overboard. I haven’t seen that in my neck of the T-6 woods and if so that’s insane. The biggest issue is all the risk leadership has signed off on our behalf. Half of our fleets ejections systems don’t function properly. We have a known issue with instruments flying to fail and filling our cockpit with smoke and fumes. Oh, and we have no way of knowing when this will happen. Our CFS may or may not work, and heaven forbid we get damage to the canopy and pass out. The fire crew is going to chipping for a while because we no longer have an exterior CFS handle. Our oxygen system isn’t working as advertised, and they are going to cap us at 8k cabin altitude. Cool I can live with that. But our pressurization system isn’t the greatest after being left in the cold and not flying for a prolonged amount of time. What could possibly go wrong? People are upset about the amount of risk being accepted for them. And the pressure to keep progressing the timeline. We’ll also see what these mods do to the syllabus. And if we are altitude capped we lose half of our training ability. It’s a lot of crap piled into one aircraft. I haven’t seen this level of risk acceptance to an aircrafts core functions in my career. But I could be wrong.

Sounds like we have a volunteer to fly the T-6 in its current configuration. He ain’t scared of no CFS burns to the face or high altitude ejections with no O2. He doesn’t mind breathing in acrid smoke and fumes. Dude I’m sure we could get you orders soon and we need the help. Sack up. Great line by the way. You sure you’re not leadership?
-
Great. How could they make it more convoluted.
-
With a large open hole at the bottom of your cru-60 to let most of the pressure out. If you forget to remove the new attachment there goes your 10 min of O2.
-
Great what could possibly go wrong? I can’t get out of T-6 land soon enough.
-
Add in issues with our EADI and EHSI flying to fail and causing massive smoke and fumes in the cockpit and the fact that our CFIS may not work and you have yourselves a winning combination. What could possibly go wrong with breathing ambient air?

What we are hearing is sometime next week limited flying will begin. At my base we may only have 6-9 aircraft that pass inspection with the new tcto. Each base sent a smattering of pilots down to rnd for training and flying the t-6 with the new “configiration.” They will return to teach us how to fly breathing ambient air, then the ct train will start. I’ll believe it when I see it. Sounds like another shit sandwich the Air Force is trying to shove down our throats in order to progress the timeline and help that pilot shortage!

Key advice...never pass up a good opportunity to shut up.

Wait...you work duck? I don’t think I could ever find you when I needed to! Cheers!

I get the point in we are too old. Assuming we all came from the bottom of our class isn’t correct though. It was definitely a mixed bag especially initially when they started sending dudes UPT direct to the MC12. Either way the Air Force has a problem it will fix in different ways or it doesn’t and we get stupid ideas like 45 hours in a T-6 direct to the viper. Not trying to start a pissing contest just pointing out some hypocrisy in the system. Cheers!

Funny they missed an opportunity for 55 dudes and dudettes who have T-38 training and deployed operational experience with 1500-2000 hours of flight time to help fill the experience gap and they stowed a majority of them away in the 11R community. Something tells me the Air Force doesn’t really want to solve this problem they have created.
-
The problem with this is when we hold the standards on the students and send them to a board, we are told somehow we screwed their training away due to some asinine numbers problem, and boom. Dude that couldn’t cut it and had multiple 88 and 89 rides is back in UPT feeling untouchable. The flight commanders and line IPs on my side of AETC have been neutered which brings the thought process of “I’ll pass him because it doesn’t matter what I do, he’ll progress through upt anyway.” It’s a shame and the student and product suffer in the end.

I knew him in field training and ran into him again during pilot training. What a great dude. Made field training a riot, and great support for a dude trying to figure out the transition from navy 34s to the 38. Very sad day in the aviation industry. He will truly be missed. Him him.

1,000 Retired Pilots Can Be Recalled to Active Duty
B.L replied to LookieRookie's topic in General Discussion
In my end of the world we weren’t so lucky. Our stuff made it all the way to the wing. Haven’t heard anything from anyone since the announcement. Glad I worked on those prfs. [emoji107] -
Best news I've heard in a while. Hoping for an opportunity to interview soon! Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

It did the same for me. I uninstalled and re-installed and have no issues now. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

I'm hoping to join your former neck of the woods. Hopefully it works out. I'd love to get the stank off me. Haha Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

100% agreed. They screwed the pooch a by shutting down the fighter pipeline for 3-4 years and are now paying the consequences. It just baffles me their logic in this whole debacle the AF has created for itself and how the right hand isn't talking to the left. AFPC doing one thing leadership saying something completely different. AF standard right? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

UFB. Answer is in front of their face and they refuse to see it. This is why I hate the Air Force sometimes. I'm an open volunteer (and I'm not the only one!) but because I'm an MC-12 dude...no dice. I don't get it.

From my count we had two get vipers one get a bone. Several went MAF. Then the rest were split between AETC (somewhere in the mid 20-30s) and RPAs (40 dropped in one day!). With a couple of ALOs mixed in.
-
So what would be the difference between the dudes that would crossflow and a late rate?
-
Just one euro fighter for the Italians. Great group of kids. Super stoked for their drop!

We are hearing rumors it is possible to get an 11F gig. Talked with the AETC/CC last week and he said they are looking at all the MC-12 dudes in AETC that were 38 trained and seeing if it makes sense to send them through IFF. That's one of the "levers they are pulling" (sts) right now.

What's the reasoning behind the move for these dudes?
