Did you watch the video? Yea, she struggled but of course we're not going to stop funding the NSA. She's still an idiot. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -

After that they should install parachutes big enough to carry the plane safely to the ground in the event of a catastrophic failure...or just ban air travel completely. Too dangerous. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -

Deciding if I should follow my boyfriend to UPT
ARIs 'R' Us replied to keallyn's topic in Military Spouses
1. Go with him, it's better to be with a significant other than without there. 2. Get married (JoP if you want to wait for a real wedding) so you can use his benefits, get free healthcare, and make a lot more money as a dependent. Or breakup...but you should know by now after 4.5 years Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -

What to do/not do as a new LT (aka how not to be "that LT")
ARIs 'R' Us replied to Vice's topic in General Discussion

Good to hear, although like Liquid said the PME piece seems fishy. Maybe you meant PME in res vs correspondence? Still would seem off. Technique: if they ask you, just mark completed. Then if anyone finds out and calls you a liar, call them a bigger liar. Your mileage may vary... Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

And another. +1 for NBoKC and Dave Devine. Just PCS'd to CA and like many our realtor wanted us to stay local, but they couldn't come close to what Dave offered...if you're debating between using NBoKC and local lender, or are concerned (like I was) about doing the whole deal via email/phone calls, feel free to PM and I'll be happy to share my whole experience. He let me know from the start what to expect, was always quick to respond to any questions (1st time buyer) via email and/or phone, and is a no BS guy. Couldn't recommend him and his bank more. Details: 30 year VA, Zero down. We chose 3.75% +$7.25K lender credit (negative points) over 3.5% w/no credit Closed in 28 days ddevine@bankofkc.com

Don't forget all the lessons you learned as a prior. And don't think that being prior enlisted makes you any better than the 2LT next to you. And for the love of God , don't salute 1st Lts unless you are standing next to a Chief or a Commander. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
Best European cities for partying: Budapest Prague Berlin Amsterdam Barcelona Dublin or Galway Ibiza, or any other city in Spain Sightseeing: Sorrento/Rome (don't go in summer!) Sicily Berlin Barcelona Rhodes London Reykjavik Salzburg Romantic week with the spouse: Corfu Plus one on Finland. Haven't been to Finland but I've heard from sources I trust that hooking up with Americans is a like a national sport there and in Sweden. I can't confirm, I'm married. Actually it would help #3, if they're trying to trade for an assignment that didn't drop to their base. The Flt/CC ranking isn't going to affect you at your unit. The phone call from the Flt/CC to your boss is. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

IFS for Navigators

IFS (Initial Flight Screening) information
ARIs 'R' Us replied to a topic in Pilot Selection Process
Nailed it Granite. If you can solo the DA 20 in about 10 hours, you will pass IFS (the number of dudes that solo and washout is very low if I recall). The whole point of chair flying is to make all that extra stuff (radios, checklists, etc) automatic so that you can focus on receiving instruction in the few areas that really matter (SA, landing, pattern ops). Study the queepy stuff on the ground but don't stress about it in the air. You won't washout for not saying a radio call verbatim. Also, enjoy the ice cream. Doss has the best soft serve bar in the USAF. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -

IFS (Initial Flight Screening) information
ARIs 'R' Us replied to a topic in Pilot Selection Process
Had 400 hours and a CFII when I showed up to IFS. Two thoughts: 1. It definitely helped me prep for what to know day one at UPT. That, in turn, helped me through the first few weeks when everyone struggles. It may not show up in your grades, but it is better than nothing for prepping for UPT. 2. As long as you can safely take off, maneuver around the pattern, and land an airplane (one of the easiest to fly in the world) after 10 hours of instruction you will pass IFS. If you have flown recently and have your PPL and you can't do that, you're probably a shit pilot. However, if you haven't flown in a couple of years, I'd be more worried. IFS should not be hard for Private Pilots. It will be a challenge, and you will have to apply yourself, but you shouldn't have to worry about washing out. If anything, it'll knock some rust off before UPT. And for all of you guys that showed up with no time, I don't know how you did it. If you can spare $1500 to go rent a DA 20 and solo it (10-15 hours) it might be the difference between going to UPT or getting re-classed Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
This is so far down the list of things you have to worry about I'm not sure what to say. I can't believe they have a waiver for it... Rinsing is key here. But seriously this. You're not the only one, I sat in the HAWC for 3 hours last year too after our secretary literally have me my notice as I was walking out of the bathroom. Here's how you fix it: If you know you're going to have to piss (day 2 at OTS), just keep a reserve in the AM and start chugging. Then, for the rest of your career, just deal with it every year or so when you get flagged. It's not a big deal, just an annoyance. You're not going to have to piss in front of a dude at every base you show up to. The AF is not like MEPs. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

Classic Thread - Security Forces (SFS) Tales
ARIs 'R' Us replied to Ferg's topic in General Discussion
It's a fact that at every AF base, they use complex algorithms to determine bldg numbers. For example, bldg 101 is located right by bldg 1469 which is on the opposite of base from bldg 102. I wonder how many non reflective Airmen have been struck by cars driven by drunk people looking at building numbers and not the road? Now my brain hurts. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App! -
You're not wrong. Sounds like instead of starting everyone with an E for everything, you now start with MIF for everything. More in line with real check rides, where a Q-1 Sat is nice, but not as nice as an EQ with 2 commendables. If your Flt/CC thinks you deserve a better assignment than what your base got, they'll fight for it. If not, best of luck with AFPC's presents. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!
