Denver has definitely got a sizable contingent of mask zealots. I’d say Buckley participation is not nearly that zealous, but the official policy is for indoor wear. Last I saw from the Redeyes they were running around in loin cloths and throwing spears at the monster rabbits running around the back gate. Nary a mask in sight.

This individual is about to make an even bigger impact because there’s no real large combat deployments affecting vast swaths of the military. When there’s not those pesky wars, that’s when the Shoe Clerk rebuilds his empire. Guarantee there was some Roman hassling some legionnaires about their sandals being tied correctly after they conquered Gaul. Nothing new.

The ironic part about Buttegieg saying anything like this is that he won’t do anything that could potentially hurt him with some group later when he makes another presidential run. He’s the ordained Democrat for some reason and can’t be upsetting anyone so Americans can just deal with it.

I actually really enjoyed SOS. Had a great flight and flight CC (C-130 pilot). Also had a controversial idea to show up there and not be an asshole to the non-pilots and just try to learn and make friends. Seemed to work out well.

With the economy and all associated things with the economy in the toilet, any rumblings or furloughs or anything? Or is the retirement wave going to help stem that?

The Air Medal thing amongst AFSOC aircrew is a huge red flag to me in the GWOT era. The amount of deploying the entire command did in the last 20 years and people weren’t able to get Air Medals via doing combat missions really says a lot about priorities, IMHO. I’m sure I’m showing my bias here but I’m not impressed/inspired by GO’s and Commanders that did all the prestigious schools and selective assignments for years and years. I can’t relate to a dude that was a multiple time exec, IDE in res, SAASS/SAMS, DARPA fellow etc. PME is important but the line dudes and dudettes out jobbing 1:1 (or less in certain career fields like AC gunners) don’t exactly connect with “this one time at Harvard”.

To continue the derail, a great resource is the FAA Aviation Instructors Handbook (FAA-H-8083-9A). Some of the chapters don’t really apply like lesson plan development etc but the first 2 chapters are good on some fundamentals. I don’t want UPT to turn into a touchy freely Part 141 school where the CFI’s kiss the students ass, but I’d like to see less throwing pubs/choking the oxygen hose Tweet style instruction. And if you’re one of those IP’s that’s convinced every student is trash and they can’t do anything right and are super nervous and awkward all the time, it may be you.
