  1. Out of Klamath you'll go to either Lakenheath or Kadena (haven't heard of any TFI to a Guard unit that Viper guys get occasionally). After that, most of my bros either IPCOT (stayed out in Kadena and switched squadrons), went to Lakenheath, or went to another airframe (Raptor, IFF/UPT, etc). However, a couple guys did go to Klamath to be IP's as they now have an AD Det there.
  2. U-28's in on that?
  3. That is the most unbelievable thing I've ever read. Almost like saying you made it through Captain Skyhawk without hitting a mountain on those fast levels.
  4. Recently had 2 guys in my flight not make Major whom I think are deserving. Am I allowed (as their Flight Commander) to write a letter to the board on their behalf for their APZ look?
  5. Cool guys, thanks. That was kind of what I was getting at drewpey. Thanks all for the info.
  6. How long is the ADSC for attending WIC? What kind of opportunities does it open/close for you as a mid-level captain? Specifically asking from an AFSOC perspective, but in general as well.
  7. Tried to turn them down eh? That's funny/pathetic. Sorry to hear that about Sheppard. The Wing CC when I was there was awesome, and seemed to genuinely care about the studs. I even flew with him in IFF a couple times and he was awesome. I know nothing about the current commander, but putting his 98.7 combat hours on his bio tells me a lot.
  8. I'm a Sheppard grad and making broad generalizations about how guys that don't get fighters are treated is BS. That's purely an individual thing. Just because all the studs fly T-38's doesn't mean that it's fighter or bust. Case in point, I went through as they made the drops universally assignable. My Flight CC went out to find heavy guys to talk with us about that lifestyle. The dream sheets shifted dramatically afterwards and they went out to align guys as best they could. Total good through winging. Data point, we had 1/3 get fighters and 1 faip. IP's that treat students differently based on their drops are probably the one tour Viper/Eagle douche that got sent to UPT instead of allowed to continue in their community. They're convinced it's politics and not because they suck as human beings.
  9. Just finished up at Accesible in Mississippi. PM if you have questions.
  10. Interesting. Thanks all.
  11. That's correct, I missed that one. The other 30 aren't. I'm legitimately asking if there's a no faip policy in gunships/u-28/cv-22 or something.
  12. Why do faips not get afsoc assignments?
  13. I'm not in the guard, but I know there are plenty of former Navy/Marine aviators in guard units. I'm not sure about the transition course for a guy like you, but I think you would be able to be in a little more abbreviated course. Luckily, there's plenty of Ang/Reserve guys that can help more. Good luck
  14. I just saw that ATP is offered at the Eglin Aero Club, as well. Anyone tried that?
  15. I'm pretty sure I'm reading it wrong, but does SFAR 100-2 provide for CFI reinstatement just by being deployed? Does anyone know why the FAA won't allow expired CFI's to reinstate via Mil IP Form 8 but will allow a guy who has never held the certificate? I really can't think of any reason for that. I REALLY don't want to take that checkride again. Maybe my check IP was tough, but that checkride was about 10 hours of GK and a 2 hour flight. Awful.
  16. If I planned on asking for trial by combat to see if the Gods found me guilty of not paying off my GTC in time, I wouldn't select a woman. But, since we aren't living in the dark ages anymore, women are just as capable of doing a lethal job as their male counterparts (ref: Kim Campbell, Allison Black, Leigh Ann Hester). I'm going to resist discussing your parenting style about empowerment and false belief. ANYWAY, how about that F-35, huh?
  17. Damn dude, she didn't write Mein Kampf 2 or something. If my daughter is inspired to do something because of a woman like this, then more power to her.
  18. Anybody used Sky Warriors in Pensacola?
  19. I know I've been trying for about a year and a half and keep getting told to try next year via functional. Currently on leave but I'm interested to see if that ams made it to my neck of the woods.
  20. Sounds like one of the dumbasses at SOS that writes more than the allotted 2 pages because they "had more to say" (100% true story from when I went). I agree with Gravedigger. If you can't do what is asked of you on one of those papers because the rubric is too complex for you, you're dumb. And having a prestigious degree from an Ivy League school does not prevent one from being a a moron. Wow...I'm getting really grouchy in my old age.
  21. If it didn't involve "hosing" someone, he probably thought it was stupid. I would theorize that he wouldn't be crazy about it due to his and his acolytes thoughts about simple, pure dogfighting, BFM machines.
  22. You guys are seriously giving the dude shit because he made a decision that was the best for his family? I personally can't imagine doing something other than flying but I can respect another persons (never mind fellow AF officer) decision based on the circumstances. I'm sure you've all said it/heard it but the Air Force will be there when your career is over, your family might not be. And enough with the woe is me crap about support agencies. Learn to manage your time and delegate. Some of them suck complete ass, I agree. Notch appropriately.
  23. Exactly. Mention SCRA and it should be a 2 minute call.
  24. If I could have Danny McBride be my exec, I'd want to be a 3 Star.
  25. You think a CAS aircraft being able to do an LST and target off datalink is mission creep? Interesting.
