Talk to your det commander..... You get a pilot slot, and by some magic bean counters interpretation of your scores, you get ranked in ENJJPT... Anyway, what's the appeal now? Gone is the advantage unless all you care about is wanting to fly the T-38 and already knowing you won't get one based on merits in JSUPT... Everyone is seeing the same crappy assignments :)

I've never understood dudes who do these flying programs if they plan on the government paying for it again later...what's the point. Go to a real school please. This online crap is for box-checking....

How Do They Look At Your GPA for Selection?
theat6bisasham replied to 86CamaroIROCZ28's topic in What Are My Chances?
Dude, 2.87 GPA is pretty darn low...you are looking like a football scholarship type applicant with that on your record. Not saying it's the end of the world, but man you are making it a harder road than it needs to be. Quit messing around...anyone can get a 3.0 + in college...ESPECIALLY if you are business major..jeez man...make it a priority over beer and video games and maybe you can fly jets for cash like the rest of us...or put it off...up to you. -
Dude, we have come completely 360* full circle on this issue.... I can still remember the day, as a 1Lt maybe 10 or 12 years ago when the OG said "If the air force wants you to get a masters, we will send you to AFIT/whatever"...that was awesome for my free time allocation decision matrix... 4 years later they sent a PDSM giving us i think 16-18 months headsup that they were unmasking degrees for the 2008 majors board... All i'm saying is, buyer beware on this whole BS....i'd put money on the whole thing going the same direction in the next 4 years.

This isn't how it works at all...i've served as a lacky shuffling folders on the board. It's not separated into Dp/P piles at all. The 2 computer screens give you lots of time to read the records. The O6's on the board read read and read some more...it's just different HOW and WHAT they focus their reading on. Some dudes might focus on this while others that...combat hours, vs flunked out of UPT, vs DG at SOS...different folks focus differently....don't forget you have a room full of 30+ O-6s representing the entire air force - so 15% women, 8% asian, 75% line, 47 % pilot, etc etc.....if you don't get a fair shake, then it just wasn't meant to be.

Virgin Galactic reports loss of Spaceship 2
theat6bisasham replied to Butters's topic in General Discussion
How the heck did the one pilot survive!? I'm assuming i'm looking at a chute of some sort in the pic above, but it looks like it's connected to a seat? Plus how the heck did he get out of an exploding spaceship without a ejection system....anyone have any info? All the news keeps talking about it the fluff...none of the specifics... -
Well that's annoying...FAIPS going to B-52s go straight to AC.....

Using that technical tool 'google' i found the following as hit #3 about Va funding fee refunds...if you paid cash you get cash, if you rolled it in, you get it off the principal. Pretty simple...you can get it before you separate if you get a disability rating...not sure if that's possible though. https://www.valoans.com/va_article?id=366

Huh? The way you wrote that seems all backwards. You mean married dudes get to live somewhere other than the dorms.....

Fyi, wife got me this watch - it's excellent and I wish I could wear it to work, but I can't. It is 100%, absolutely forbidden to enter the SCIF under any circumstances. It has 3 features that prevent it from being approved. #1 It has BLUETOOTH, so it's a no starter. #2 It receives GPS signals, so per current regs that not allowed in the SCIF. #3 It has a USB cable connection and can read/write to memory, so another no-starter. Fought it for awhile, and pretended to not know what the deal was - but those are facts. Bluetooth + GPS + USB memory....this is a walking security incident, and as blatant as brining your iPhone in the vault (well maybe not quite as bad, but pretty close). Time have changed, i'm sure some of you still remember doing crew briefs with your phone turned off, laying on the table in front of you....

What to do/not do as a new LT (aka how not to be "that LT")
theat6bisasham replied to Vice's topic in General Discussion
I've never seen any problem in MX that can't be fixed by taping it, hitting it with a hammer or just ignoring it and fudging the paperwork. -
Medals and ribbons together medals haphazardly strewn randomly around the coat References to superiors using crazy specific language such as 'Lt General John Smith Roberts, and Colonel Robert Johnny Smith...) ..etc etc.. But the real, 100% reason why this guy is fake - Any real Sgt Major in the Army would have verbally assaulted you for even bothering him, much less ENGAGING you in a conversation about his career. The PT reg thing was priceless...though Service specific because I have to admit, I couldn't name the damn USAF uniform regulation numbers from memory...i have a link to that shit if I need it...lol

Enid rocks - hot in the summer, cold in the winter, wind blows every day. Food is 3/10 and the girls are 1/10....any questions? oh and it's 1.2hr drive to OKC which upgrades you to 5/10 on the food and 3/10 on the girls. Enjoy!

Why Not the B-1 Instead of the A-10?
theat6bisasham replied to xcraftllc's topic in General Discussion
Costs money to close bases…lots of money. …And the first bomber to be put back to bed in exchange for the next gen bomber. Enjoy that kick in the nuts….congress doesn't give 2 shits about JASSM…they wouldn't even know what it was. What they do give 2 shits about is ALCM…and i'll give you to two guesses as to how many the boner can carry... -
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You literally broke my sarcasm meter. That is the dumbest shit i've ever read…so it must be fake. I can't begin to tell you how many FAIPS who were supposed to know their shit, could untuck a shoelace tangle, much less lead a formation, play with JTACs, put bombs on target or put gas in the tanks…..Like anything, it has more to do with the individual than the label my man. I've seen butter bars make the FAIP look retarded when it comes down to actual CAF shit and not just flying the ILS 15 at KTIK x10 with a chipotle break in between. But then again plenty of FAIPS roll in, shut their mouth, don't pretend to know a damn thing about anything outside AETC, and ing rock the world around them with ease. Again, individual, attitude, etc…not labels.

Seasoning…full time work/pay while you get some experience…then i guess either go back to selling shoes at walmart or try to get a full time gig. I would be worried - my guess is it's a huge hit against you needing a waiver to even get your package approved. I can't imagine them being low on apps - so why bother with yours? Just a guess…but I would worry and make some friends at the unit. You do have a unit lined up? I'm pretty sure this isn't just going to fall together on it's own... Yea…you and everyone else on active duty buddy. I also remain interested in gold bricks, free booze and fast cars…don't discount the other 10,000 dudes drooling over those jobs. Checks big time Navy doesn't have a commitment like the USAF? Seems early to let you bail…by the way, email me and i'll swap with you any day of the week.

CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) info
theat6bisasham replied to HuggyU2's topic in General Discussion
Yea, how could that have any impact on your general ability to fly/instruct an airplane….maintaining SA over multiple hours of flying a cable driven ancient beast across multiple timezones, dealing with MULTIPLE nave at once and trying to put gas in the tanks for 20 mins at a time before trying to put iron on target 12 jdam at a time…yea…how the hell could that EVER translate to being able to fly the mighty ing Seminole…i bow down the lowly CFI at my local FBO... -
Unit with more than one airframe
theat6bisasham replied to A300's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Oh yea, it's pretty easy to go from C-17's to F-22's....that's like monday morning water-cooler stuff. All that T-38 track and IFF doesn't really have much to do with anything once you get to hawaii. Good luck! see you there! -

Air Force UPT and IFF syllabus guide? ARB insight?
theat6bisasham replied to Cameltactics's topic in Pilot Selection Process
I would love to take the time to hear your tale... But i don't understand some things - you are alluding to having been in UPT. You had full access to a syllabus and MIF items. But, having been there, you should know that knowing MIF had nothing to do with getting though. You do your best and the grade sheets will work themselves out. You should have had a chance to discuss any issues at your CR with the wg/cc, though I've been to plenty and usually the guy in the other chair just takes his licks like a man and moves on to something better suited his talents. I have never seen anyone try to queep their way out of it. The train has left the station so far behind to have made it to the CR, that to quibble over MIF and Syllabus at that point would be moot - if the syllabus wasn't followed, and it was detrimental to your progress, then you would have returned from the CR. If the syllabus dev was insignificant and didn't have anything to do with your failure reason, then it wouldn't make much difference. Your TIMS records would have been reviewed and any syllabus deviation would have been a major flag. Standing by for your story...nothing else of interest going on! -
Air Force UPT and IFF syllabus guide? ARB insight?
theat6bisasham replied to Cameltactics's topic in Pilot Selection Process
To qualify my response, I was a student Naval Aviator at Pensacola, and yes we were provided a student guide that listed every single darn thing they wanted you to know on every single event. However, as both a student pilot AND instructor pilot in JSUPT with the USAF there exists no such official "guide". The syllabus simply described the flying events with MIF but there is no section that says "be able to draw the electrical system on C3001" or "describe the course rules on C1001"...etc. The USAF takes a much more firehose approach to the subject. I expected my studs to have everything studied and memorized on flight 1 of the block..contact, form, low level, instruments..whatever. You had to know everything on every sortie, and it was dealers choice as to what GK we asked, as it was all expected to be known. But those 12 hrs a day in the flight room leave you plenty of time to learn it :) Perhaps you could illuminate your desired impact point with this question...? Are you on the receiving end or giving end of this ARB? -

Information on PCS/moves/moving (DITY, TMO, DLA, storage)
theat6bisasham replied to SUX's topic in General Discussion
I'm reading that you can go anywhere in CONUS…you get to choose. Plus 5630 says to use 5130 as the reference when doing HOR/HOS/etc calculation (greater). Anyway - my reading says anywhere you choose is your home. Hence, you could NTS it but you may need to preselect your HOS U5130 RETIREMENT, PLACEMENT ON TDRL, DISCHARGE WITH SEVERANCE OR SEPARATION PAY, OR INVOLUNTARY RELEASE FROM ACTIVE DUTY WITH READJUSTMENT OR SEPARATION PAY A. General 1. Travel to HOS Authorized. A member on active duty is authorized travel and transportation allowances to a home selected by the member from the last PDS when the member is: a. Retired for physical disability or placed on the TDRL (without regard to length of service); b. Retired with pay for any other reason (including transfer to the Fleet Reserve or Fleet Marine Corps Reserve) immediately following at least 8 years of continuous active duty with no single break therein of more than 90 days ( B-160488, 14 February 1967); c. Separated with severance or separation pay immediately following at least 8 years of continuous active duty with no single break therein of more than 90 days; or d. Involuntarily released from active duty with readjustment or separation pay immediately following at least 8 years of continuous active duty with no single break therein of more than 90 days. A member may select a home: a. Any place in the U.S.; b. The HOR outside the U.S. (see par. U5125-A) or the place outside the U.S. from which the member was initially called or ordered to active duty ( 53 Comp. Gen. 963 (1974), 54 id. 1042 (1975)); or c. Any other place. NOTE: Allowances paid in this case must not exceed those payable had the member selected a home at a CONUS location specified by the member. -
FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
theat6bisasham replied to AOF_ATC's topic in General Discussion
I think no one ing knows the answer. Either here or there at afpc. My bet is on people getting hosed at the last second when they 'suddenly' become eligible for VSP/RIF when it's too late to apply for 1.25...
