I vote you stop in the middle of the run, light up a cigarette then continue.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but I thought too much disability upon sep/ret was a bad thing when looking for employment post AF. True?

Good points nsplayer, I would have to agree that President Obama is a much better role model for young impressionable Africa-America children than the likes of say Kanye West. I also have to agree that this really should be about the teacher and in no way am I thinking the President had absolutely anything to do with this debacle. 2 on the hot teacher...

Telling kids to put on earmuffs so you can curse is also fact, doesn't mean you have to celebrate it Franky. The more people concentrate on that fact, the longer it will be an issue. And if you ask me, that's a huge reason for his election. What's wrong with the book being in the gift shop at Normandy? I'll answer this with a question right back, why SHOULD it be there? Did he contribute somehow to the liberation of countless European nations? What did he sacrifice in WWII? By toning down my partisan goggles, would that happen to include singing praises of President Obama at the next Roll Call? Hmmm......I'll pass.

I think the difference is that those people you mentioned actually ACCOMPLISHED something of historical value. Yes, he's the first African American President, but isn't just stating that fact racist in and of itself? Why can't he just be the 44th President? We don't refer to W. as the 43rd Anglo-Saxon President do we? But other than this singular fact that he "overcame oppression" while he was growing up in Hawaii (one of the most culturally diverse states we have), what could possibly be worthy of writing about him in a history book. In other words, what could there possibly be about him that is so great that we need to teach it in elementary school? Nothing. These kids need to be learning arithmetic, the alphabet, and most importantly how to get the pretty girls to play on the jungle gym with them. Dr. King and Presidents Washington, Lincoln, Reagan, et al SHOULD have their places in our history books (which is where I'm assuming you read/sang about them). What is this Obama worshiping song teaching those kids about anything other than what the schools leadership wants them to sing about? And all this while The Pledge of Allegiance is being slowly being BANNED from schools? Just doesn't seem right to me. Sidenote: I recently visited the beaches of Normandy. If you ever have the chance, please check it out, it's a pretty damn humbling experience. To my dismay, while wondering through one of the gift shops, I saw it. The biggest most noticeable book on the shelf was a book about the inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama. WTF is that book doing anywhere near the sands where tens of thousands of service men gave their lives? Granted I was in France so that explains a lot right there but really, it kinda made me sick how infatuated the world has become with this guy without knowing how his Presidency is going to turn out. Cheers...

KMCC is the most obscene waste of money I've seen. The place was way over budget and way late being opened up. The parking lot was designed thinking everyone drove a damn Mini and for some reason, I'm hard pressed to make it out of the food court for less than 10 bucks. I guess they have to recoup some of that money that was spent by being so damn late finishing the thing. I for one can't wait for Christmas to come around when every service member, their families, contractors, host country nationals, and every other swinging dick (roughly 50,000 of them) drives into Ramstein to do some holiday shopping. Meanwhile, my ass is stuck in line at the gate for 30 minutes trying to get to work. It was a good thought but when you have so many Americans concentrated in such a small area, putting all your AAFES eggs in one basket like they've done is going to create some headaches. Shutting down Vogelweh AND Ramstein, and moving them into one central location just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Another...don't blame me for the spelling. And further more if you're looking at the spelling, shame on you.

Story It's just been a bad decade for this family.

I was holding short RWY17 at RDR, prepositioning to Hickam for a Coronet when CP called us back to the ramp and told us to report to the squadron. This was the ACs first trip after upgrade so he was freaking out thinking he jacked something up. However as soon as we walked into the sq lounge, we realized it was much worse. Everyone was glued to the TV and we were swept away in a crew bus and taken to billeting to assume A-Alert. We launched later that evening to spin overhead metropolitan areas with a few very small offloads to 16's and 15s. I think total duration was like a 9 or so. Made for a long day for sure. We were cleared direct "wherever you want to go". We took direct RDR-OAK. We were literally one of about a dozen jets airborne that night in the entire western US and the first to launch out of RDR for ONE. Pretty damn humbling. edit for spelling

I'm still amazed the PC police are letting this happen, yet stoked they let it happen at the same time! https://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2009/09/ap_airforce_minot_b52_squadron_090309/

It was probably the test bird when they were first switching to R models. Non unlike the C-5M you see now-a-days. The probe is for instrumentation such as AoA, speeds, etc.

My latest off... Dude passed me on the brakes and then parked right in front of me mid-corner.

I think by the time it got to the intakes, it would be more or less vaporized by that time, and it's never very much that squirts out (sts)...good point though. As a boom, I'm a little peeved that the light on the probe is white like the Hornets light. Night A/R is a pain when you have that million candle power spot light shining in your face. Kinda screws your night vision. I wish they'd go back to the red light like the F-14s had.

I think the Marines got it right with their approach to motorcycle safety. Here's a trailer for their safety video "Semper Ride". Very well done in my opinion and targets the right audience. As opposed to the AF that seems to sometimes just want to get rid of motorcycles period. Enjoy... linky

Having already completed land and water survival as an E, I'm not gonna have to repeat it once I commission am I? Are there any airframes with Navs that attend "other" survival courses?

I actually just enrolled in 2 ERAU Masters courses, my first two. Can someone enlighten me as to why these degrees won't do us any good post USAF? Granted it's not a technical masters by any stretch of the imagination but it's still a masters from an accredited university right? And if you're staying in the aviation world post AF, wouldn't an aviation related degree be to your benefit? edit: bufoonery

Toro, you should know what I'm talking about when I tell this story.... About 9 months ago construction began on our new facility which meant taking away about 25 parking spots making the parking (not walking) problem that much worse around where I work. Some days the only option was to find yourself an unobtrusive parking spot. Well I ended up getting a couple of parking tickets and about a month ago got a nice note from pass and ID that my on-base driving privileges would be suspended for 90-days. I had every intent of appealing it with the MSG/CV, approval authority, but when I asked about the appeals process I was told that the only way you get a hearing is if you can prove your innocence (they'd rather not attempt to fix the underlying problem). I wasn't denying my guilt but wanted to bring the situation to light to those who don't step foot out of their offices and have a parking spot reserved wherever they need to go on base. So rather than schedule the hearing, I decided to go around and take pictures of the hideous parking situation, the illegal parking that blocks access for emergency vehicles, and the ridiculous amount of reserved parking that goes unused and emailed them to the MSG/CV. I also mentioned the fact that the last guy to write me a ticket told me that while he understood the crap parking situation, he would not be writing me a ticket if it wasn't for the UCI going on. WTF... In reply I got "Parking enforcement lacks consistency overall as we ticket based on complaints, targets of opportunity, manning, other tasks, etc. Driving suspension stands at 90-days." Mind you this is the entire KMC area...not just Ramstein. I'm probably just bitching here but it just kind of chapped my ass that I made an attempt at offering suggestions that could help the parking on this base and was given the stiff arm. Long story short, not being able to drive on base flat out blows.

When I left in 06, at Grand Forks we were getting around 600-700 hours/year to include 3-4 deployments and a handful of AE and Coronet TDYs. In 5.5 years there I racked up 3,000 hours. They were sending COs to PUP pretty much as soon as the regs allowed them to. Can't recall exactly what the regs said. I know it didn't take long though.

I'd rather spend the pound for a seat belt and then piss myself as opposed to using the can and having to stand up. Just think of the replacement costs for all those seat cushions!
