It's Official, OCPs are Coming!
Really? That went away with nose art, squadron bars, and O clubs. We're way past heritage into the realm of corporate blob.

Pilot Shortage Deepens, USAF is SCREWED.
Do y'all really think if they want (not need) a C-17 EP Safety guy for a 365, and all of the eligibles have deployed for 46 days in the last 5 years, they're going to tell COCOM, "Sorry, Boss, you're going to have to learn to live without."? You're not out of any WEZ! This may postpone your 365 for a cycle, but it by no means changes anything. They just call it "short notice" and they can use "current timelines and processes."

Pilot Shortage Deepens, USAF is SCREWED.
Happened to me, and I still don't know what shady shit went down. Tasker came down, I was 4th in line behind 3 O-5s. They all dropped paperwork, I deployed. At least 1 of them was still in the Wing when I got home almost a year later.

I simply don't believe them.

The stack will be so short though that being at the bottom of it won't mean much, especially if the top-o-the-stack guys have top cover, or put in retirement paperwork to get skipped over (and then pull it back).

Here's a term you might as well learn now if you aren't already civilian payroll smart. https://www.patriotsoftware.com/payroll/training/blog/a-closer-look-at-imputed-income/

IMA Position Vacancy Promotion
Figures. Det 6 has some public page briefings. Maybe there's something in there that will help. https://www.arpc.afrc.af.mil/HQRIO/Detachments/Detachment-6/ Scroll down to "RESOURCES" and open the "Force Development Briefings" menu. They've done a couple on Officer Promotions and they have slides called "How to Get Yourself Promoted."

IMA Position Vacancy Promotion
Talk to your RIO Det. They should have a promotions office or someone at the Program Manager level that is smart on these things.

Promotion and PRF Information
Man I hope it works out like that for you. My last deployed roommate was kinda like you.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
If that's the case then unregard me.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
I looked for more information than what's in the posted graphic, but didn't find the source document. Is this more complex than an A or B choice? From the graphic, I read the 11F AvB as either (A) $35K/yr for 7-9 years, or (B) $100K right now. If there's more to it, I'd love to see the actual options.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
What odd assumptions? Without tax considerations, I didn't really make any assumptions. The growth rate is adjustable. I was just showing that the single upfront payment growth isn't enough to keep up with the smaller payments.
-
Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
I think the payments option is almost always better. *Spreadsheet removed.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
I knew I was second rate in Big Blue's eyes, but I at least thought you'd come save my ass!

Certainly there's more to it than 500kt breaks, but most deployments fall under the "everything else" category. OAIX or OTBH stan-eval for 365 isn't exactly Mav-worthy.

Pilot Shortage Deepens, USAF is SCREWED.
If pilots did more of that and less of everything else, they wouldn't be stampeding the exit door for a job flying 136kt ILS finals.

I did it in Denver at FTI for $7K 3 years ago.

Plenty of enlisted members fly for the airlines. Let's pay for their training and give them wings so they can get their faster! Win for them.

Yep. Dude tried to organize a boycott because a chick teased him on the interwebs.

Don't get too comfy. NGB has no problem throwing you under the bus to maintain "relevancy." ANG guys teaching in-country C-130s today, A-29s or F-16s or C-208s tomorrow. https://www.ang.af.mil/Media/Features/Article/863815/ang-air-advisors-building-afghanistan-air-force-one-flyer-at-a-time/

Young ANG/AFR guys, what did you do full time
Many of us have found that it's tough to do airlines and keep flying in the ARC, and airline FO sure as hell ain't PhD rocket surgery. IMHO and USERRA aside, if your team will notice you're gone and constantly have to pick up your slack, it's not a great match for ARC flying.

LA ANG is hiring!
They'd reject every app for attachments containing unencrypted PII.

The new airline thread
If there are seats they can get on. Edit: For D, that's spouse or travel partner, parents, and kids. No in-laws, siblings, etc. We've had great luck going to off places in off times. We buy seats if we gotta go or there are few flights. We don't try to go to Orlando in March More edit: Our trips are always 1 leg. Exponentially harder doing 2 leg non-rev.
