  1. I left LRF right after the he took command, but the few stories I've heard aren't flattering. Although I did have the "privelage" of running into CZ again at Maxwell. My response when he starts spinning yarns about the Herk or just being himself was, "he may technically be one of ours but we don't claim him" Czecksihks and hindsight speak the truth
  2. My squadron just moved to a new building with no provisions for a bar. Currently, we might have enough room to construct a bar table with a couple of taps, but a room dedicated to a squadron bar would have to wait until we went to J's. Since I'm starting with a blank canvas, I'd like to hear what you guys have seen in your squadron bars.
  3. The problem is that big blue isn't always sqwuaking or talking to anyone on the radio. Kinda like a pred hanging out over final. But seriously, I highly doubt there will be any change to retirement without a grandfather clause. I just can't imagine them legally getting away with it. And if they do, well, that will simplyfy my decision making after my ADSC is up in 2019 (fvck!).
  4. So that's why we wear green boots?
  5. Stereotyping? Sure. I think the video gets across certain points. As a young flyer, I have no real grasp about what it takes to get my aircraft FMC. So I have no idea why there never seems to be spare parts for my 45+ year old airplane, and why there is never a spare despite dozens (or a hundred) sitting on the ramp without engines turning. Yeah, I know the guys working the line are busting their ass in shitty weather, and I give them credit...I doubt those guys are the limfac. It's frustrating being limited in our ability to execute the mission. So, for me, this video really addresses that there isn't a productive dialogue between the Ops/MX (even shoe clerk) world on why the mission is getting hamstrung for lack of spares, parts, and goddamn vouchers.
  6. Instead of having a pissing contest regarding whose fault it was when a line gets canceled?
  7. What gets me is that leadership is taking what was supposed to be a safety tool and now making it a punishment, thus reinforcing negativity. BTW, this policy also extends to blues and PTUs, indoors or out. Fv(k reflective belts...and DTS. But I digress.
  8. From what I heard (rumor mill), it was an alcohol related "incident"...not a DUI. Something about an airmen who was driven home by a DD, then left to go do something stupid and got arrested. Now wing leadership has decided that this is the proper course of action. Just my $0.02, if it comes down to making everyone wear the belts 24/7, then no one has any idea how to eliminate alcohol incidents.
  9. There's nothing like having the whole (stateside) base wearing reflective belts 24/7 so we can "reflect" on alcohol awareness after our most recent DUI. Somebody craps their pants and now we all have to wear diapers.
  10. Our #1 dude in T-6's (VN) was counseled by the flt/cc as to why he wanted helos. Actually, he was wondering why very few of us wanted T-38s. This was when it seemed like nobody was dropping fighters and UAVs were usually 2 to a drop. Later in toners, somebody a couple classes ahead of us SIE'd when he dropped UAVs. Caused a lot of drama...leadership wanted him to stay in. I think he separated anyway, but not without a lot of stink eye from his bros, especially the guy who had just hooked his 89 ride. I think 10 years in UAVs is a shitty way to go, but we all know that we're gambling with our careers on every ride in UPT. It's not like we didn't have 13 months to at least prepare for the possibility.
  11. Anybody have any gouge about ERAU and their aeronautical sciences masters? Is it a check the box or a worthwhile degree? How much work is it? Are most of the classes online or is it a good split between classroom and online coursework?
  12. If you can wait until after Xmas, I'll have some available.
  13. I talked to the chaplain and he recommended what the forum did: do it after UPT. Does anyone know how long a dude waits around after UPT until he/she moves to another assignment?
  14. I'm at the beginning of Phase II at VN and just proposed over the break. Graduation is around mid Nov, unless I go to Corpus, I guess (trying for T-44s). Is it a feasible (or good) idea to have an October wedding (Columbus weekend?) with a month left of Phase III or did I get myself into a big mess? Please excuse my naivety.
