Retirement / Separation Considerations
Fifty-six & Two replied to Jughead's topic in General Discussion
According to Title 10 he would get 52.5% (2.5 X 21) and then would get 1.67% for the last 8 months (8/12 * 2.5) for a total of 54.17ish percent. (https://www.law.corne...de/text/10/1409): (b) Percentage.— (1) General rule.— Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), the percentage to be used under subsection (a) is the product (stated as a percentage) of— (A) 21/2, and (B) the member’s years of creditable service (as defined in subsection ©). © Years of Creditable Service Defined.— In this section, the term “years of creditable service” means the number of years of service creditable to a member in computing the member’s retired or retainer pay (including 1/12 of a year for each full month of service that is in addition to the number of full years of service of the member) -
If it happens on base, yes.

AMC delegated it to each wing

?s on ADSC (Active Duty Service Commitment)
Fifty-six & Two replied to FreudianSlip's topic in General Discussion
This is absolutely false. I transfered 100% of my benefits to my wife 3 years ago. Just last month, I transfered all of them except for one month to my daughter (she wasn't listed on the initial transfer) and did not incur an additional ADSC. The ADSC you incur is to be able to transfer those benefits whenever/however you want (within the eligibility rules). -
I heard that if you do multiple versions of SOS in correspondence, your chances to O-4 increase exponentially.
-
Isn't his new IPZ based on his DOR to O-4, so it's still technically APZ compared to his commissioning year group?
-
Only if your Commander was your rater. More than likely your rater was a Flt CC or shop chief.

AGAIN, unless you were DG out of UPT/UNT/FTU, it is hard to discriminate based upon a TR. Everyone else below the DG looks the same on paper (for the most part). One of the issues being brought up is trying to make the training squadrons do a better job of putting on paper who did well and who didn't do so well. 36-2406 is the OPR/EPR reg. If you have a TR from a course greater than 20 weeks (initial qual at LR falls in this category), then your initial OPR is not due until 1 year after the grad date on the TR.
-
I'm going to venture to say that with an accountability date of Feb, the damage was already done on your PRF. I doubt a school house TR would have changed much if you had a P on your PRF. The FTU has 60 days from the grad date to submit the TR to AFPC and I've seen it take as long as 30 more to end up in the individual's record. And this comment about someone washing back making them not as good as someone who breezed through couldn't be further from the truth. There are people who struggle at the FTU because something else may be going on outside their control. The goal is to help them get through the program, to include washing them back if needed. As a Lt going through the pipeline, you are not privy to all the information that is going on with troubled students, so don't even begin to think you are automatically better than them.
-
Absolutely, especially compared to other boards where it is usually less than 5% APZ. It just sucks for these guys who have to wait even though they may not have done a single thing wrong.
-
-
Agreed and I meant that comment more towards those that were innocent. Guys who have spent the past 2 years in the rated pipeline getting passed over only because they haven't had the 'opportunity' to plan the Sq Christmas party. What a waste and leadership keeps saying, "Keep your head up. You'll make it next year!" Only 47% of the APZ got picked up this year and I doubt it will get any better.
-
There were 30 pilots and 25 navs that were passed over IPZ, through no fault of their own. At the 130 FTU, 9 (5 pilots & 4 navs) out of 58 were passed over. Well below the 93% promotion rate AF wide.

Upon launching the new program, new students signing up will automatically enroll in 6.0. Current students will transition into 6.0 depending on where they are in 5.2. Students enrolled in LC, NS or AP will transition into 6.0 upon successful completion of that course. Students in WS will stay in 5.2 until completion of AP. Finally, students enrolled in any of the 5.2 Joint Warfare courses at the start of 6.0 will not transition, but they must complete the 5.2 program by 1 April 2013. On that date, the 5.2 program will terminate and students still enrolled in any of the 5.2 courses will be moved into 6.0. Depending upon their progress, they may have to retake one or more courses.

Here's my question. How many Army guys do you think sign up for ACSC after finishing their PME? Some d-bag was bragging about being enrolled in Army CGSC after ACSC. WTF? I give up.
-
I guess I don't get this quote. If you are in L&C, you are still going to get enrolled in 6.0 after you take the L&C test (doesn't have to be next week). AU is projecting the switch over to happen on September 24th. If you have taken test 4, Expeditionary, Air, Space, and Cyberspace Power (AP), have the score updated with AU, and show enrolled in Joint Forces by the 24th, then you will stay in 5.2. Everyone else will have to change to 6.0 at some time based upon the timeline quoted earlier.

You got 2 of them correct. Pope and Elmo fall under their respective bases and not under the 19th OG. The other unit that falls under the 19th is the 345th at Keesler.

Surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Axle is a great dude and this is unfortunate. https://www.airforcetimes.com/prime/2012/07/air-force-c17-pilot-charged-jump -death-071812/ A C-17 pilot is facing a court-martial after the death of a National Guard paratrooper, who was killed during a training jump last year. Capt. Jared S. Foley, of the 7th Airlift Squadron, 62nd Airlift Wing, is charged with three specifications of dereliction of duty in connection with the July 10, 2011, incident, said Maj Michael J. Meridith, a spokesman for 18th Air Force. Foley was the aircraft commander when Army Sgt. Francis Campion jumped over Marshall Field at Fort Harrison, Mont. Campion was blown off target and onto a rooftop, when another gust of wind caught his parachute and caused him to fall 24 feet onto pavement. Campion, 31, died of head and neck injuries, according to the local coroner. He was a member of the West Virginia National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group. Foley is accused of "executing an additional airdrop when an off drop zone airdrop was suspected or confirmed, conduct likely to cause death or grievous bodily harm to parachutists," according to a summary of the charges. He is also accused of going ahead with the airdrop following an off drop zone air drop without clearance from his operations group commander, the charge sheet says. Foley's attorney, Capt. Sarah Carlson, declined to comment. The charges were preferred against Foley on Jan. 11 and referred for trial on May 1, Meridith said. Foley's court-martial is slated for Aug. 28 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

Whats the funniest thing you've heard over the radio?
Fifty-six & Two replied to Gravedigger's topic in Squadron Bar
Another OKAS story with the same legendary tower chief: CROME 22 holding short. CROME 24 just landed. Chief: "CROME 22, Mohalab's radio has just went out. I am afraid for your safety and I cannot let you take off. Are you good pilots? Can you find your way without Mohalab?" CROME 22: "Yes sir, we are good pilots, we can find our way to our destination." Chief: "CROME 24, can you vouch for CROME 22? Are they good pilots? I am afraid to let them go because what if another plane comes in, how will they know where he is? I fear for them." CROME 24: "CROME 22 has exceptional pilots. I am confident they can find their way. The weather is clear, so if they see another plane, they can avoid him. They are very good pilots and should be allowed to go." Chief: "OHHHHH...I don't know....CROME 24. OK CROME 22, I let you go, cleared for takeoff, but only maintain 5000' until the border. You are good pilots, so I let you. Be very safe." CROME 22 departs and after they pass about 1000', Chief comes over the radio and says "CROME 22, confirm that your copilot is awake?" CR 22 replies affirmative. "He is? Ok, safe travels, you let me know when you contact Ali, maintain 5000'." -
CLASSIC: De Motivational Poster Contest!
Fifty-six & Two replied to HerkDerka's topic in Squadron Bar
EPIC FAIL since the poster makes no sense...they don't even have engines running. -
The reason they didn't want us walking around with beers anymore was because the MX O's were coming down to our end of the building bitching about how their guys still had to work. Boo hoo
