I really don't care, I was just stating what the article said. Does it matter? Nope. The point of my post was: The MOB for the KC-46 is going to be at McConnell; the schoolhouse will be at Altus; if you want to fly them in the Guard go apply to Pease.

. It is currently 2013. 2013 + 3 = 2016.

I started a new topic for this to consolidate all of the 46 info since they will be coming on-line in the next three years. McConnell has been selected as Main Operating Base #1. https://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20130522/NEWS/305220007/McConnell-AFB-selected-new-tanker-base Pease is in line to get the first for the ANG pending an environmental impact analysis. https://www.airforcetimes.com/article/20130522/NEWS/305220012/Pease-get-new-line-refueling-tankers Still no word on where the school house will be.

This is interesting. The Eurasianews network said that the Kygyz recovered the FDR and were considering sending it to Russia about 2 weeks ago. For what it's worth, they also regularly publish that we dump fuel into the farm land, which is not true; crews are required to fly all the way into Afghan airspace before we dump. But UPI (whoever that is) is saying that they just recovered the FDR/CVR and the US authorities have them. https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2013/05/20/Flight-recorders-from-crashed-US-military-plane-found-in-Kyrgyzstan/UPI-67011369057587/

Might be worth giving the Hobby Shop on your base a call. The guy who ran the wood shop at McConnell used to make nice ones, but he retired last month (not that that information helps you at all...)

I sent Geno a message on facebook, but apparently unless you are "friends" with an individual it costs money to send a message to their inbox...it is free to send it to their spam box. If you know him, can you ask him to check his spam messages? I would have hoped that as professional military aviators we would be capable of keeping a memorial respectful and on topic. Apparently this is not the case...

Everyone please shut the fuck up about parachutes and other non-sense. We are in this thread to remember three friends and crew mates who have lost their lives. This has been floating around the facebook. Does anyone know it's origins? I’ve got troops in contact Pinned down by the Tali Made one more pass, way low on gas “I need vectors for the tanker.” Tonight my wounded warriors Need medevac to Landstuhl. A double A/R out of Kandahar “I need vectors for the tanker.” The Kims and their kin are at it again, In far away Korea We are looking tough, with my cell of Buffs “I need vectors to the tanker.” Earthquake, flood or famine The world needs US aid The air bridge is faster, to any disaster “I need vectors to the tanker.” NKA…WTG! We take pride in this expression. Day or night, we fuel the fight. “I need vectors to the tanker.” A CSAR helo has been launched A grim hunt for 3 survivors. A burned patch is found, now hallowed ground. “I need vectors to the tanker.” Today a crew is coming home. Boom stowed and bound for heaven. They passed their gas, now haulin’ ass. “I need vectors for the tanker.” All SAC aircrews please stand by This is GOD on “Guard.” Lemay and I from up on high “Are giving vectors to the tanker.”

It's a McConnell tail, but that doesn't mean anything in regards to the crew. It is the 3rd day of the month, which is generally Guard over-the-shoulder day which would also explain 5 on board...

NKAWTG. to the crew.

No, just a big pussy. Dick. *by the way, I'm not really calling you a dick. It's meant light hearted. Just trying to prevent any butt-hurt since there is no sarcasm font.

I am heading to T-6 PIT in October (accompanied) en-route to XL . I just got off the phone with lodging and was informed that I would probably not get a pet-friendly TLF because they "don't like giving them out for such a long period". Does anyone have any updates on the lodging situation at RND since the last posts are about a year old...I've seen something about TDY en-route dudes getting "priority" for lodging, but can't find the reference. I'd rather save a headache and just stay on base.

I was in the shop in January. They were very much in business then and I cant see a place that has been there for forever closing down in just 3 months. A base model cow leather A-2 was $230. $250 for fleece lined pockets. $270 for the fleece and a gun pocket on the inside breast. There were other add on's, but you couldn't walk out of the store with the jacket, they had to ship it to you. A base model goat leather was $170. Increase price by increment above for add on's. The lady there was a pretty good salesperson as far as explaining why cow leather was superior to goat leather, so I ended up with the cow leather and "fuzzy pockets" as they put it. I recommend taking a cab to Pop's after dark, unless you don't mind hobos jumping out of dark alleys yelling at you in a foreign language.

Got it thanks. Living off base again it is!

Has base housing been renovated/updated since 2009? Just found out We're headed back to lovely Del Rio by the Sea in October.

I hope she sues him for video taping her without permission and then posting it online. Did you see his picture on the news? There's no way he likes chicks...

Wow. Just wow, I am in awe. I wish to one day have your powers of speech and eloquence.

False, progession all depends on your ability to not suck. In the civilian world if you do not have the time and/or money to dedicate to flying on a regular schedule you can lose what you learned and have to spend extra time picking it back up. Flying is the most rewarding thing ever. The sense of pride and accomplishment after a good landing while reflecting on a successful flight is awesome. However, that brief sense of euphoria can only make up for being going 200+ days a year for so long...

Better. The more annoying policies were going away (such as reflective belts in the CC, saluting in PT gear, sunglasses around your neck) giving all the chiefs less to chief you about.
