  1. Same. Ordered two new ones, and both started unraveling with hardly any wear and within a month or two of having them.
  2. The list still has to go through all the wickets. SecDef office, Congress, etc.
  3. I know the Bone's radar is far and away better than ours and fulfills much the same function as this would, but I wish they'd hang a Dragon Eye pod on the left pylon, keep Sniper/Litening on the right and give us another MFCD so we could dual wield sensors.
  4. The Buff is currently fielding Litening Gen 4. Not sure what the Bone's future pod plan is.
  5. Not so. I think the one YoungnDumb is talking about was the first, but definitely not the only as of late. Our FTU SQ/CC made a trip to Columbus specifically to scope out the product coming out of the Tone side. Shortly thereafter, our FTU inbound roster (at least before I deployed) had T-1 FAIPs and studs listed as coming to us for upcoming classes. I can't say with certainty whether this is happening for the Bone or not, but I had heard rumblings at one point not too long ago.
  6. It's starting to happen, yes. Both Buffs and Bones are dropping to the T-1 side.
  7. This was home station. There are other tales worthy of "Leadership at the Deid" that I will share upon my parole...
  8. Here's one more papercut from my little corner of the AF...we got an email the other day that our squadron was required to offer up a body to be a green dot facilitator. We're trying to keep up with our flying mission with our manning well below 100% (just like, I'm sure, everybody else) and now we're mandated to have someone take (more) time out of their schedule to go deal with the Green Dot bullshittery....UFB. I kinda thought the point of the people that facilitate that program was that they actually had some buy-in or personal experience to share....now it's just another onerous ancillary duty and yet another straw crushing the air power camel.
  9. As a Buff dude, I've seen many of our guys going to Dave for their nametags, and his stuff is the shit. Just as good if not better than Mardon, and certainly no two month turnaround ...try two days, if that. Wearing one right now, in fact! Highly recommended.
  10. Same in the Buff. We've had guys who were #1 in their class during the EW phase get WSO slots. Point being, be the best you can be (without screwing your bros!) and you'll be in a better position to get what you want.
  11. More evidence to support my feeling that I have absolutely zero ambition to be a commander.
  12. Any recommendations now on where to get the nametags for the A2 jackets?
  13. I'm a little torn....I liked their stuff much better than their competitors, but that website....the best 1995 could provide.
  14. Their quality has seemingly tanked lately, too. Ordered two new nametags, and both are fraying badly with less than four months wear.
  15. I tried a phone patch to my then-fiancee (now wife and baby momma) coming home from my last Guam deployment. The operator reached her, but he wouldn't say plain English "Ma'am, I'm an operator with MARS radio network"...he wanted to use his fancy CB handle. She thought it sounded suspicious, told him he had the wrong number and hung up on him. She didn't realize later until she compared notes with another squadron wife/GF/sig other, who had done the same thing, that it was us trying to call home to let them know we were airborne and would see them soon. Then she was just horrified because she'd hung up on me in effect. Good times...
  16. SIIC/Stuck was one of the best dudes you'd ever hope to know. The Buff community is taking this loss hard. Him him
  17. The Buff drops are probably driven by our cyclical FTU. We only do three classes per year. Seems like PCola gets a couple of Buff-heavy drops to fill them out. I'm a current FTU instructor; if they have questions I can pass my email to your or they can PM me on here.
  18. They did, and it sucks....long live MoraleNet
  19. New CAF Wifi...worst trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever...
  20. And then you have both a colossal humanitarian crisis as well as a likely insurgency with regime loyalists....God, that whole thing would be a mess.
  21. bomberpatches.com The guy who owns the company is a reservist at KBAD and good dude. He's a big proponent of PVC patches., which is why you see most of the Buff squadrons rock them for Red Flag, deployments, etc. Take a look at the website. He's also a graphic designer and does solid work. It's not just bomber stuff now, eitiher. He's made stuff for a bunch of different units.
  22. Any idea what further wickets it has to go through and how much longer it will take?
  23. So.....anybody know when Congress is going to approve the 08YG promotion list so we can start pinning on? First group's supposed to start pinning 1 October, and as of today MyPers still says "awaiting congressional approval"....
  24. Please tell me said idiot was immediately called out for their stupidity?
  25. Unless soy milk is your thing, yes...although strangely, when I got coffee today at the bean, they had what looked like fresh milk. How'd that happen??
