Probably. But I expended all my satire skills on the last post.

A "Personnel Services Delivery Memorandum" is usually a 6-9 page document the authors should have condensed into 3 paragraphs. "Staffing" means all the Bobs get to keep it in circulation until the oxford comma dispute is settled.

The fact you get paid is the same, but they differ in form. The SBP is for life vs. the term one-time payout. I guess I could do the math on the NPV of the annuity vs. the term, but I didn't go that far. Your point is well-taken. 🍻

If Clark keels over day 1, then SBP assuming you've selected your full salary as the "base". The Mrs. would get recurring income for the rest of her life & you will not have paid a bunch of SBP premiums. Moving away from the day 1 scenario, at what point do you think you'll have enough invested to permit your family to handle all the debt/goals etc. without any additional income? If that's today, then maybe no insurance policy is the way to go. If it's in the next 20 years when you're both pushing 60, then maybe 20 years is the relevant timeframe to look at SBP vs. a term policy. Full disclosure, I ended up selecting SBP. YMMV.

Decent thread here. I've read the bill & don't see any pork. (I'll edit this post & stand corrected if someone else sees it.) Puzzling why it didn't pass round 2 tbh.

Posting to publicly thank Jon and his entire Trident team for helping my wife and I land a home (twice!) in a particularly challenging market. Jon's assistant, Olivia, was superb. She authored/sent loan approval letters in a timely manner & as we found homes where we seriously considered making an offer, she rapidly got us the relevant loan information to help us make an informed decision. We finally landed a deal in the ~Mar timeframe. We discussed numbers on Fri & by Monday the Fed had raised rates. Despite the higher rates, Jon honored the lower figures we discussed. The combination of low rate, zero lender fees, & applicable lender credits meant in addition to 0% VA down, I would have next to zero closing costs. Equally impressive was Roy. Once we had a signed our offer, Roy helped navigate us through the various closing disclosures, VA paperwork, and loan requirements. When I had questions, Roy answered them swiftly & with sufficient clarity to aid two home-buying novices like me and my wife. Unfortunately, this particular deal fell apart over our appraisal. We spent the next 3 months looking for a home & utilizing Trident's services. Time & again we funneled Olivia various property addresses; she would give us the relevant numbers. When we put in offers that weren't accepted, the Trident team was empathetic & encouraging. Roy & Olivia both kept me informed of the rate landscape until we made our 2nd offer. Yet again: Trident rates soundly beat the market, low fees, and 0 down. It was a no brainer. Once we finally got to closing, duties transferred to Jen who completed this phenomenal quartet. She worked directly with me & our title company to finish all the closing documents. Suffice to say: we're thankful to be (finally!) out of the rental market and into a home. Jon, Olivia, Roy & Jen made the process seamless with minimal damage to the ol' bank account. If I'm ever in a position to buy a home again, I'm giving Jon a call. If you are considering a purchase, your search has ended. THANK YOU TRIDENT!!!!

And another for the F2 crash between Nissany & Hauger this past weekend.

@Random Guy please ELI5. If it is indeed the case that most people make errors in their monetary assumptions and arguments, who should care? What’s the impact/ problem?

What about calling the restaurant directly and seeing if they’ll text you a pic?

Day Man, I should have! Instead, I initially defaulted to my credit union who gave us our first home loan over a decade ago. It wasn't until I started receiving suspect loan requirements that I recalled this thread & posted a question. As a result, my first interaction w/Jon was via this forum & even though he (at the time) didn't have my business, he answered my question & even offered to cover the topic offline. I took him up on his offer & after 2 mins on the phone I knew I was switching. Cheers, Herk 🍻

Thread update: I ditched my other potential lenders and went w/Jon @ Trident. I can't say enough good things about Jon & his team. I particularly appreciated his willingness to answer questions candidly, his responsiveness & that of his colleagues, and his overall approach which combines not only the best value for $$ but integrity to boot. I encourage anyone looking for a home loan to give Jon a call; I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Thanks Jon! I have your contact info & will be in touch soon.

Looking at a VA loan atm. Lender #1 says I'll have to put down 25% of the difference between loan amount & conforming limit. Lender #2 says they'll do it w/out that 25%. Lender #1 says she checked w/a couple other seasoned loan officers & can't understand how lender #2 can structure such a loan. So which is it? Does the VA mandate that 25% or is it possible for a lender to go zero down above conforming limit?

Best interest of the AF and AvB question
Herkdrvr replied to Nodeskjobs's topic in General Discussion
One other piece is expressing your desire to continue service in the Guard or Reserves. The AF then retains their highly-skilled aviator in a capacity other than active duty service. Whether or not ANG/AFRC unit interviews are as fruitful as airline interviews is a different story. -
If you specifically want restored vintage equipment, then take that route. Otherwise, keep your 5.1 gear & change the applicable outputs to 2.1 for the listening scenarios where you prefer 2.1.

Interesting. Parable of the Drowning Man springs to mind.

Question on administrative discipline and discharges
Herkdrvr replied to Spaceballs's topic in General Discussion
Short answer to your question is yes. An officer could have some period of acceptable service, have a "lapse in judgment", receive an offer of & accept an Article 15, and then potentially continue & leave with an honorable. I'd caveat and say if the officer had done something sufficiently egregious that an Article 15 is being considered, you might not "expect" an honorable as the JAGs can (in my experience) get pretty zealous & will pursue a CM if they think they can prove all the required elements to a CM panel. Any Art. 15 discussion suggests potential CM-level issues. That said, (as you probably already know) Art 15 is administrative & the only two discharges for officers as a result of that 'punishment' would be honorable or general (under honorable conditions). Bad conduct/dishonorable come from the punitive articles of the UCMJ. Lastly, if I've erred anywhere above, I'll happily stand corrected. I'm not a lawyer, but I played one on TV. Good general info -
The POC on the DOD SB page is Jason.Bertrand@tilray.com. The Tilray website shows them to be a cannabis company out of Canada. Not sure how GK links to Tilray. Odd combo. Edit to add: The FAA registry gives a street address in Seattle w/a suite number that belongs to Stoel Rives law firm. Maybe they share the same suite? Or not?

If by "bonus" you mean the aviation bonus, back when I signed the decision was at SecAF level. [DP2SSM Form 3004] Recommendation would be to base your case on AF vice individual reasons. Career field overmanned, your separation will not adversely affect the mission before next assignment cycle, Wg/CC supports, etc.

VA disability that doesn’t affect FAA/ civilian flying
Herkdrvr replied to Guardian's topic in General Discussion
I used the DAV. The guy knew exactly what forms to fill out, exactly what medical issues to cite, and I got to hear some tall tales along the way. You could certainly do all the paperwork yourself, but I think I would have overlooked several items the DAV rep picked up during his review of my records. I strongly recommend the DAV. VA is using "QTC" as a 3rd party medical scheduler for VA exams. A few times they tried to schedule me for various tests/exams that would have required a 1-2 hr drive. Be sure to call QTC and get the visits closer, if desired. Either that or take the day off work for your VA exam and enjoy a roadtrip.
