  1. How did you make it 20 years in the military?
  2. Heartfelt congratulations to you and your family!
  3. Awesome, thanks!
  4. Thread revival.. regarding the max of 130 inactive points in a year and 83 for ACSC. Are those ACSC points awarded at the completion of the entire program, or each individual course? Just trying to understand, if each year I max out TPs and UTAs, am I losing out on about half of those ACSC points. Don’t know how I’d realistically max them out, just curious though.

    Gun Talk

I’m just doing the research for him.. Can’t argue that, he’s got a really great job opportunity that would be absolutely foolish to give up.

Thanks for the link, I’ve got it bookmarked. I’ll do some more exploring on that website.

    Gun Talk

My friend is separating from Active Duty and moving to California this spring. Any advice as it relates to firearms and moving to the People’s Republic? He currently has two pistols (don’t foresee any issues other than the 10-rd mags) and a basic s&w mp15 (I think it just needs a mag-lock and a 10-rd mag to be good to go). He expects to eventually inherit a few additional firearms from out of state family members in the future.. does a Gun Trust make sense? None of the firearms are special or unique, just the standard stuff. I know the firearms need to be registered within 60 days of moving them into the state. I think a gun trust gets around that and future acquisitions. Are there other considerations or things we’re not thinking about?
  9. Do you happen to have a link to the 9300 healthy people deaths article or source? Not that I disagree with you, it just seems high.
  10. The most important thing is that we all feel safe. Speaking for me and my family, we will definitely feel safer if we go back to mass lockdown if that’s what my overlords decide is necessary for their personal gain.
  11. Yeah, read the article, it’s not because of the name itself. “The data show that, on average, a person with a distinctively black name—whether it is a woman named Imani or a man named DeShawn—does have a worse life outcome than a woman named Molly or a man named Jake. But it isn’t the fault of his or her name. If two black boys, Jake Williams and DeShawn Williams, are born in the same neighborhood and into the same familial and economic circumstances, they would likely have similar life outcomes. But the kind of parents who name their son Jake don’t tend to live in the same neighborhoods or share economic circumstances with the kind of parents who name their son DeShawn. And that’s why, on average, a boy named Jake will tend to earn more money and get more education than a boy named DeShawn. DeShawn’s name is an indicator—but not a cause—of his life path.” Regardless.. please don’t feel I’m dismissing the point of the argument. Like most people, I agree with you. There is a racial problem in America, I just disagree with the Root Cause analysis and the instructional fixes.
  12. Fair enough I guess, I’ve got the first round.
  13. And that.. is bullshit. The men and women who volunteer to risk their lives and commit acts of violence on our behalf deserve the best available, most capable Americans on their side without any biological qualifiers. If policy makers or the American public thinks our current force make up isn’t diverse enough, then they need to find ways to develop the under represented and under preforming communities so 18-22 years from now those kids grow up to be the best available and most capable Americans willing to serve. The wrong answer is any sort of lowering of standards or preferential treatment for under represented groups.
  14. I feel like it would be easier to convert our fighters to probe/drogue, add tanks and pods to the MAF Herks and somehow fuel from a cargo bay bladder out to those pods. Maybe we don’t modify the 22s and the 35s.. but you could probably figure out something for the non stealth aircraft.. That’s way more realistic than a boom on a C-130. Doesn’t matter though, AMC leadership doesn’t trust its crews to do much more than standard cargo hauling.. pushing the envelope is an exercise in smashing your dick in a file cabinet.
  15. I’ll echo the large iPad recommendation. It’s nice to be able to make it both readable and see the entire plate at once. Absolutely get ForeFlight. I think Performance is the top tier account type, you probably don’t need that to begin with. But definitely have someone show you the ins and outs so you can get the most out of it.
  16. AFFSA had any interesting article on the origins of max, relax, roll and why GA is abandoning that for relax, roll, max (or relax, max, roll). As a blown wing, constant speed prop, instant power and lift C-130 dude, I’ve found that just bumping up the throttles a bit is generally sufficient.. but I can see how trading altitude for airspeed makes sense for anything that has a spool up time. i dunno, I just have a degree in social sciences.
  17. Do you think there’s a reason it worked for your family and many other mostly young, healthy families? If you think back with a critical eye, did it really work good for you? I honestly don’t have too many complaints myself, but I think there is some truth to the old joke: ”What do you call the Med school student who graduated first in his class?” ”Doctor” ”What do you call the Med school student who graduated last in his class?” ”Captain” Maybe I’m just mean though
  18. Let’s not forget.. when the Bobs say AMC is overmanned, it’s because they lowered the crew ratios..
  19. To pile on.. it’s my second- and third-hand understanding that there are some ANG and/or ARC units that are actively avoiding the J because of the loss of two crew positions.
  20. Is this a troll account? Gen Chang? You don’t seriously believe what you wrote do you?
  21. Aren’t the same principles of a fix to fix used when quickly building SA when using a bullseye?
  22. AirGuardian, as others have posted, thanks for your candid and balanced posts on Atlas. Good info! I've got a phone interview with them tomorrow; while the 17 days (really it's 19 right?) on the road might be a tough pill to swallow, I think it'd be a blast to fly a 747 for a bit. I am Palace Chase-ing and will owe some time as a Traditional Reservist.. how has that traditionally worked out with an Atlas schedule? Since it's one big block of time, I assume dropping MilLeave for a few days knocks out the entire trip, meaning my only real option is to do my mil job during the 13/14 days at home?
  23. Great video, one of my few regrets is that I never put in a U-2 app.
  24. Just rent for a bit til you start flying again?
  25. Not really, if you had a plan to take a long vacation or family reunion it may take a while to reschedule. It’s pretty awesome for anyone separating prior to December 2023–potentially 120 days and some change of terminal if you save it correctly.
