  1. I don't know CH, that's an odd thing for the average bro to say (no offense Slick). Perhaps he's using the term "mentorship" and referring to advocacy? Either way, I'm fairly certain the lack of a mentor or advocate will not adversely affect your chances of making O-5. If you have your AAD and IDE complete, I believe the I/APZ O-5 promotion percentage is in the high 90s (and it has been for a few years now).
  2. Mrs. Spoo pointed out that the grays will soon overtake the brown and that I may be starting to thin a bit on top. Not a good week.
  3. I realize that things may have changed in the years since I went to UPT, but how is that you have "months off" between phases?
  4. Yeah, but the Packers are on this Sunday.
  5. BTW, reference topic title, "U2" is the name of a band. The "U-2" is a high altitude reconnaissance aircraft flown by some pompous pressure-breathing prima donnas out at Beale AFB. #OCD
  6. A true warrior. Never bitched (excessively), always worked hard, and made the brotherhood and the Air Force a better place. It was my honor, and many others, to serve with him. Artisits: Amn Pucci and Amn Leonard. Nice work boys, some of the best nose art I've seen. #flynavy
  7. The Air Force considers it legal to drink in uniform, as long as you don't make an ass of yourself. Any questions?
  8. Hey champ, don't worry about offending me. By all means, please continue using similar "witty" references.
  9. Why didn't you just say that the first time? You know, instead of spouting off like a complete douche?
  10. If you're referring to the Geographic Combatant Command(er), the proper acronym is GCC. COCOM references command authority, similar to TACON, ADCON, OPCON, etc... Get your shit straight.
  11. And old people too...like Huggy.
  12. Yeah, but did you know that SURF means Single Unit Retrieval Format?
  13. No worries. Enjoy the year, it's a good school. First quarter sucks, but it gets much better from there.
  14. If you've completed ACSC in correspondence, you should have JPME I credit. If not, according to a quick search on the google, you should have received JPME I credit for your OLMP with joint concentration. Check your SURF and dig around on the portal to verify. If that doesn't work, check with your staff NCO, they should be able to look it up. After you do that, go talk to your senior service rep. They may have a reason for placing you in the JPME group. Question for you: Do you still have to complete ACSC in correspondence to receive in-residence credit for NIU? If so, reference first sentence above.
  15. Recommend Navy Annapolis Flight Center, knocked it out over a weekend. Frank Kennedy (ret USMC) owns the joint, does all pre-check instruction. Good guy, but an SOB to fly with. He'll have you ready for the check ride though, it was the easiest part of the process. His go-to DPE is a great guy, pleasure to fly with. Schedule is pretty packed until 31 July, but he may be able to work with you. Additional details: Plane is a Piper Geronimo. Cost is variable, depending on when you're ready to check (in the ballpark of $3K). Plane - $240/Hr Instruction - $45/Hr Check - $450
  16. I could be wrong, but I think he's trying to say he has unrealistic expectations of the officer corps' ability to understand current events and consider unexpected outcomes. On the specific point of being surprised that the UK voted to exit the EU, I'm willing to bet that even David Cameron was taken aback. Polling the week prior indicated that ~75% of the public supported remaining in the EU. On the second point, I have no idea what he's trying to say. As written, he states that BREXIT will "[reflect] our election". So an event that just happened reflects one in the future? Maybe he meant our current election cycle and associated political noise influenced the voting public in the UK? If that's the case, I'd say that is indeed possible. Bottom line, if you're going to pass yourself off as enlightened, at least use proper grammar. Everybody knows that effective written communication is essential to being a credible pompous ass. BTW, that was a nice use of "Cheers!" at the end, it really cemented the overall douchiness of the post.
  17. According to PM, I was too subtle. I was using the term shipmate in one of two ways:
  18. Sock measuring? Please...that's F-ing amateur hour. This is Army War College, we're at the varsity level of queep enforcement. TRAIN TO TIME, NOT TO STANDARD!
  19. I bet you're the guy that says "PIN Number, CAC Card, and ATM Machine" too.
  20. I'll probably regret this post, but am I the only one that doesn't get this? I mean I think that's a tennis court, hence TC, but how is this funny?
  21. I think TreeHoler is correct, so I fixed it. BTW, I was going to go with EJECTION RING - PULL, but wanted something that was fairly common knowledge and indicative of my age-appropriate level of crustiness.
