Rucker was definitely a step away from the Phase I/II mindset. 8 hour academic days and during contact we were done by 1 or so in the afternoon (3.0 to Skelly, debrief, done). I'm sure the RWQ is similar if not better.
Not arguing that, it's just that the dedicated MEDEVAC bird for Rucker cannot carry an entire crew and will have to rely on other aircraft.
The Huey's they replaced, could.
There is a contract that was just approved for the NVG compatible cockpit for the Huey back in December. Also there were slides for the WW Heli Conference last year about the crashworthy seat proposal.
Improved survivability is a joke. The refurbished Marine birds that we are getting are getting all of their defense systems removed because they don't want the cost of maintaining them.
The UH-72 won't work at all because we are already payload limited.
The AFE shop at KIKR is not the best when it comes to customer service. It took two months to get a zeta liner because it was "back-ordered" when they had a bin full of them next to their desk.
I almost got denied the ability do take my test a couple weeks ago because I had on white compression shorts on. Apparently only black or dark blue are allowed. The tester actually said "I'll let it slip this time" UFB!
Some pretty sweet Huey nose art from Nam here as well. It's not NSFW, it's heritage!
Also here is a good one of an F-105 as well. The boomers used to have trouble sticking it.
And finally an F-105F Wild Weasel (s/n 63-8301)
