Have any of you participated in any of the CMP Garand matches? There is one nearby in April and I was wondering what was involved.
  2. I highly doubt that Obama will kill Constellation all together. There are too many jobs at stake in key states for him to take that kind of political risk. Yes the retirement of STS will cause job losses around the Cape but not to the extent of killing off the entire manned US space program. Ares I is out and has been since the Augustine Report came out, but Orion will remain with a different launcher. Ares I was and always has been a dud. Also I wouldn't totally trust the Orlando Sentinel for NASA news, they are like Fox News vs Democrats.
  3. Okay so i used the powers of google and determined that Monday July 5th is a Federal Holiday, so no problem there. I also perused around and found out here that July 2nd is also a family day, at least according to AFIT. Do different parts of AETC have different family days? I.e, AFIT has family day x, but 19AF does not?
  4. Two questions: Looking right now at getting married on the weekend after track select, which happens to be July 4th weekend. From everything that I've gathered from the studs in Phase III, the weekend after track select is free to your own devices. Is this a good assumption? Also since July 4th is on a Sunday does anybody know if AETC will have family days or something similar on the preceding Friday or Monday? Thanks!
  5. I gather that while being religious is not SNAPish per se, suggesting to others that they should go to church or other kinds of proselytizing is. Christian tits rock!
  6. I thought it was "for all intents and purposes". That makes more sense
  7. It does not cover the issue to the level that needs to be. There are only two little blurbs about leadership but neither actually tackle the issue. Most of the article is about the safety aspect of the disco belts and is a shoe-clerk rebuttal to the groups existence. Doesn't even touch on the mandatory wear of the belts indoors in the daytime.

    1. My rifle is amazing. Has not jammed at all. 2. I got a field grade and with the exception of those two "stray" shots it gave a nice 4 inch grouping at 100 yards. I'm not even that good of a shot (at least according to the AF). 3. Unless you get a adjustable gas plug, commercial ammo will not work. Its too much powder and will damage the Op-rod. Hornady and Federal are the only two commercial manufacturers that make the M2 ball ammo that i know of. 4. I got a field grade because they did not have any service grades out when i went to the south store. They let me use one of their muzzle gauges and i found a diamond in the rough that was a 1. That particular rifle also had a great finish. The rack grades are usually ones that are pretty beat up, have a lot of wear and tear on them, and are usually bought for parts. The field grades like mine are in better shape but still show signs of use. The service grades have a lot less wear and have a new stock and handguard. The SG specials are even better and I believe are rebuilt. If you are active duty then your mil id counts for all of the club and other affiliations needed. Although I picked it out at the store (which i would highly recommend if you can), i had it shipped to me because i saved about 50 dollars on tax. Get one, you won't be disappointed.

When I was at ASBC in September I decided to do something useful and took a trip to the CMP south store. $1000 bucks later I have this beauty and 720 rounds of ammo. Grouping at 100 yards. No wonder America won WWII!
  13. Does the setting really matter whether the troops were combatants or not? If he was some sort of super-duper sleeper agent for Al Qaeda then US military personnel, regardless of their location, would be considered combatants (I know AQ doesn't play by the rules but its an interesting thought experiment). Aren't we at "war" with Al Qaeda and other terrorist networks? If some SOF guys go and kill some terrorist in his home county of Assrapistan don't we consider them a legitimate target?
  14. The AF didn't have any CSAR assets in Desert Storm due to the fact that CSAR itself was gutted after Vietnam and almost all of the assets were transferred to Special Operations. The only "rescue" units were those still flying the MH-3 and although they asked repeatedly to go to the fight, they were denied by HQ. There were only three successful rescues of downed Allied personnel during Desert Storm, on each by the AF, Navy, and SOC. (The AF rescue was by an MH-53 so although it was truly SOC it was AF personnel making the recovery)

  17. After each person moves out of the dorms, they fix it up for the next tenant. This includes repairing the holes in the wall from pictures, replacing furniture, etc. When you get there ask for one of the new dorms. They are much nicer and feature a walk-in closet ~(5 x 5 x 10)ft. Although they have the same square footage as the older rooms, the floorplan makes better use of the space. You can get a storage locker in one of the common rooms that is ~4ft x 4ft x 7 ft. All you need is a lock Cable One has a monopoly on the market in Columbus. Cable and internet package will run from $100+ depending on the package (sts). Columbus is not in a dry county, thank god
  18. Or for that matter the 53K's that Marines are currently testing. Seems like the AF wanted a bigger helo for high altitude ops and the -53 platform is a proven winner. Just call it the Pave Low V.
  19. There is one now at CBM. don't know if it is the same one but it has evidence of good times in its past
  20. There was a shooting a couple months ago at that Wal-Mart. Granted it was at 3:30 in the afternoon, but still
  21. Even if the AF wises up and changes to MultiCam, there will still be a shitload of people in the AF that will complain of getting a new uniform. Heaven forbid we should have a combat uniform that actually camouflages the wearer and is functional.
  22. That was back when news reporters weren't pussies.

  24. Here at Columbus there are posters all over the place reminding us of the TIB "World Tour 2009, TO DREAM!" There are even some volunteer opportunities associated with the show. If someones OPR/EPR is hurting that bad that the need a bullet from that, God help them.
