OK, so no answer on the TERA application that I submitted in January, and yet AFPC has the bandwidth to begin ANOTHER round of TERA... For those now applying, best wishes. I hope your wait is nowhere near my wait. How do I plan for a future when I have no idea where it will be (in or out of uniform)? Two weeks beyond original deadline, 3 days beyond extended deadline, and no answers or information available about my application from the TFSC, except...it is in the retirement section. I don't like to bitch, not normally helpful; however, I am now beyond pissed. I cannot be late on any number of deadlines...TOT, training, finance, no-show for not supporting my support group on time...but I am not worthy of so much as a flipping update on my application that is officially 2 weeks late and counting. I expect to be crapped on...after all I signed the papers without illusion. This shit is now just rude. -

The second round of TERA applications opens on 15 Apr according to our MAJCOM A1 guys - specifically for those who were ineligible under round 1. -

I think the reality is that the 300 folks who had their orders cancelled (via computer F-up at AFPC) also posted in the take-back email...and in reality, the number should be 314 instead of 14 or 300 because any screwing with someone after they get approval would cause them to be uncertain. -

From our MAJCOM A1 this morning: - 14 "take-back" notifications went out (10 enlisted, 4 officer) -- CV does not have firm confirmation but does expect AFPC to honor those retirements - 300 officers were approved and then their retirement orders were rejected because of a patch AFPC ran on the system -- Those officers are still approved and their orders are now being jammed into the system 1 at a time - New round of TERA (for those now eligible under the new ADSC matrix) will run from 15 Apr - 3 May - VSP still running through 1 May with new PDSM to go out in next 2 days or so (covering the new ADSC table) -

from the Facebook site (I know the dude, legit guy): "99/O-5/11X/No ADSC. I inquired about my status last friday and got this from the OIC of retirements this morning. "Apologies for the delay. AFPC is working with the pentagon with adjudicating the rated officer TERA applications. We will be finalizing them in the next couple days and will be sending you the decision soonest (approval or disapproval). I appreciate your patience and more to come." If this is true then we will probably have the rest of the TERA pilot notifications within 7 days or so (for those not already approved/denied or bouncing back and forth between the two...) Same thing happened to me on 17 Mar (99/O-5/11M/1yr ADSC left for GI bill transfer) ... and I simply did not sign anything. I do not want to 7-day opt out if my TERA gets denied so I figured they would just give me the assignment whether I signed the RIP or not. Low and behold, my outprocessing checklist is already loaded in vMPF and I've received an email welcoming me to my new base...and my RNLTD is 31 Jan 15. I did not want anything in the system that even looked like an ADSC so I told the boss I was not going to sign my RIP and his response was "that's fine, just don't try and 7-day opt a month from now" This might not help your situation but it is an example of how messed up this whole TERA/VSP program has made the entire personnel system. -

Did AFPC take the day off? I have not seen anything Ops related out of them today in the ways of approvals or denials. Anyone have news? -

Here is what I know with about 75% reliability (take it for what it is worth), guy who knows a guy who knows a guy told me ... you get the idea. TERA packages for pilots are being processed and being sent around AFPC for MORE coordination because FAMs gave out assignments after TERA applications were put in...so the long and the short is that my TERA approval is pending whether or not my FAM chooses to release me from the assignment he/she gave to me AFTER I applied for the program. My boss is just a touch tweaked about this news, especially given how painful this process has been thus far and is trying to get a hold of my FAM on the phone to find out what the ground-truth is for my situation. I'll get back to this forum as soon as I hear words...guessing 7 days or so given the speed of this process so far. -

Your hate is strong, let it flow through you...it seems the word I am looking for is douchecopter - kudos to the creator of that one. AFPC has won, we have devolved into bitching at ourselves. Perhaps we should be pissed at the complete incompetence of this process and the system that WE begot...yep, we all are (or have been) a part of it and thus our tolerance of the incompetence past and/or present makes us just as culpable for this system as all of our leaders are. -

Normally true (as far as I know), however I still have a year of ADSC for my GI-Bill Transfer and past experience tells me that they will leave me alone for a month or two (I did this once before when I refused an assignment...to Altus of all places but I still had ADSC remaining, and they shipped me out to Altus anyway). Am I gambling? You bet. Am I losing? Nope, because I still have a TERA package in and I figure no commander in their right mind would try and enforce the assignment in the middle, especially since the assignment RNLTD is not until Jan '15. Oh, and signing agrees to a 2 year ADSC... What I am mulling over now...is that they could possibly deny my TERA and then tell me that since I did not accept the assignment in 7 days that I have to get out. That is not very likely though, since they would have had to deny my TERA (because they need me on that wall) and they would have to waive a year of ADSC. I cannot imagine AFPC would do that, even with the foolishness of today. -

I got the same email about "quit bugging us" ... only good thing is that I have a name and email address in that email (no more faceless AFPC). I figure at this point we are all just in the hopper while they work through the stack. It has been difficult to have the required patience when my Air Force leadership wants everything from me "yesterday, damn it!" but I have to wait until the end of the AFPC deadline to find out my fate. -

Yep, dropped an assignment with a TERA application still pending (FM-Validation Complete, with a 1405 date on my CDB). And strangely, AFPC and MPF do not seem to understand that I refuse to sign any training/relocation RIPs until AFTER I find out about TERA. -

Someone at AFPC either reads this forum (or caught a clue) as the following is the new migration verbiage: "The servers supporting the AFPC Secure environment will migrate into the Air Force Network starting 27 March 0530, through 28 March 1600." It turns out shutting the systems down on the last day to submit certain applications might not be the brightest idea ever...so the migration is delayed a day. -

Awesome...got a 1405 date today finally, still trying to break the code on what that really means for the TERA process...maybe a rack-and-stack for whose heart to break first with a denial notice? I also received an assignment...for Jan '15...but my TERA application still shows FM-Validation Complete. Needless to say, I am not signing anything until my TERA gets summarily disapproved (probably because I received an assignment AFTER I applied for TERA). Frustration anyone? Oh, and I am looking forward to the complete reboot of the program on Monday because AFPC is going through a server migration tomorrow morning for the servers that all of our applications, etc. appear to be on. simia stupri pedis pila -

Unfortunately AFPC is shaping up for a week of poor communication again...for those who have not noticed it before, the verbiage below is from the "alerts" part of the AFPC secure site. I am CERTAIN that this migration will be completed on time...because we have never had computer problems (or poorly planned cyber events) before during migrations...Argh. * AFPC Applications * * UNAVAILABLE * The servers supporting the AFPC Secure environment will migrate into the Air Force Network starting 26 March 0700, through 28 March 1600. All applications behind AFPC Secure will be unavailable until the migration has been completed. The migration must occur during duty hours to support contracting obligations with the AFNET team We will send out courtesy updates daily and notify users when migration actions are complete. If migration actions are delayed beyond 1600 on Friday, March 28, we will send out the proper notification and estimated completion date. We understand the significance in timing with the unavailability of systems and will attempt to minimize the impact. We appreciate your patience and apologize in advance for any inconvenience this AF directed action may cause. -

Yes. The Air Force and I rarely see eye-to-eye and it was time to part ways amicably with all the benefits (although 37% vice 50% hurts a little). That's a fancy way of saying the family is ready to settle down in one spot. The job market is pretty good outside for me right now so that helped the decision a lot. It is a little bitter sweet to make rank and then just retire but it is the right time for me to get out. -

AFPC is doing something with the TERA right now. My TERA moved to FM-Validation Complete yesterday and then today the title of my "Incident" moved from 'Retirement Request' to '//RETIRE IN LOWER GRD//Retirement Request' (which makes sense since I do not have TIG to retire as a Lt Col). Is it a light at the end of the tunnel or ... just the train? Caveats: 11M w/15 years service, just pinned on Lt Col a month ago
