  1. Any platform? Uh huh, right.
  2. Obviously, this was put out by the company building the A-29. However, I wonder if the lateral-directional stability of the AT-6 is poor enough to warrant the added weight and drag of the larger empennage.
  3. Nobody was bitching. Thank you for the clarification on the policy, though...I'll just use the card.
  4. I was told by my finance office that I could not receive advance pay because I have a government travel card...is this true?
  5. Why not? It's not as though the sheet metal guys from the EMS just bent the structure back into shape.
  6. Or a Möbius Strip.

Noob question, but what kind of sight is that on your Persuader? I'm looking to get a Persuader for HD and wanted to see what people preferred for sight (bead/ghost/rifle).
  8. Essentially, yes. Technically, a sustained turn occurs at Ps=0. Thus, the max sustained G and turn rate occur at the airspeed at which G and turn rate are maximized along the Ps=0 curve on an E-M diagram.
  9. I thought they did lawn service, no?
  10. What's your ultimate goal? To go to TPS or fly U-2s? If it's to go to TPS and you're a cargo/tanker pilot (assumption made by me based on the fact that the CAF porch won't release folks to the U-2), then you're probably better served continuing in your MWS as that extra experience can help in future applications (assuming you don't get in). On the other hand, having a varied flying background is usually looked upon favorably upon TPS selection boards, but ultimately, you probably have a better chance of being selected as a heavy pilot than a recce pilot based on recents classes.
  11. Not to mention the fact that many Sq/CCs I've seen only hang out for the roll call portion of the naming and then quietly extricate themselves from the festivities.
  12. Thank you, Finance Guy
  13. I received a notification from DTS that I owe money to the government for an unused portion of a plane ticket, which I was expecting and had received a refund from the airline with funds currently sitting as a credit on my GTC. Unfortunately, the debt the system thinks I owe is more than what I actually owe due to a DTS failure which dropped a rental car from my list of expenses. I've since amended the voucher again to show the correct debt I owe. My question: do I need to do anything to address the original notification of debt or will resubmitting the voucher to reflect my actual debt to the government supersede the originally calculated debt? BL: I don't trust the poorly designed DTS to recognize these cases as the same and want to avoid being assessed a new debt, the total of which is the combination of the first debt and the corrected debt.
  14. Did she come from Cal City Prison?
  15. A smaller instance of this happened in my squadron while downrange. A spouse was upset over a squadron member's callsign (had been for just under a year) and when she finally blew, the Bing was stripped of everything and approximately half of the doofer book's pages were ripped out.
  16. I'm shocked.
  17. The reporter is trying to tell a story like a fighter pilot...you know 10% true.
  18. Although at that altitude, the shock would be pretty weak.
  19. It's refreshing that Fox News is willing to publish holiday greetings during commercial breaks; they just had one for Rosh Hashanah and Labor Day. However, if they are going to air one for the USAF's 65th birthday by showing different aircraft during the spot (presumably in homage to the AF's heritage), someone should tell them we do not fly the SU-27. https://youtu.be/jTgc7D_RjOo
  20. I'm almost finished with the book and have enjoyed it thoroughly. Here is some press about the book's subject matter on the Nellis website.
  21. I would say most of the time, yes, but I have seen firsthand one or two non-CMR patches (graduated quite a while ago) who were not any better than a lot of the line dudes.
  22. According to their newsletter, CGOC members (read non-rated) watched a Verification at Lakenheath. Hopefully, they walked away with a sense of what the AF actually does as its mission and the amount of work it takes to even be labeled CMR.
  23. I don't think they have to be disarmed. The CM-170 and MiG-15 I flew in both had operating ejection seats. While these are obviously different aircraft, all fit in the Experimental category, so they should fall under the same FAR provisions. According to the owner, the only thing he had to disarm was the capability to jettison the wing external tanks. More importantly, here's a toast to the folks involved.
  24. What was the most violent period? The reason I asked how it was "defined" is that violent deaths (due to warfare, genocide, etc) as percentage of population versus gross number of lives lost has seemed to me to be how people have justified calling modern times the most violent. That is, they've used the gross number. Is that incorrect?
