  1. It was the same way at Sheppard for a while (circa 2003/2004) until enough rational arguments against the O'Club racket carried the day.
  2. Don't get your hopes up. This unit is specifically designed to augment the F-15E FTU. So unless you are already a current/qualified FTU instructor, your chances are slim...ie infinitesimally small.
  3. Why especially SEFE with respect to pilot qualification?
  4. Found this on the Edwards website...apparently the jet will tell the tanker it's identifying information Automatic Receiver Aircraft Identification
  5. That's BS; just different sort of challenges
  6. Ahh, crap...you mean I might actually have to do some work flying fighter/bombers (and any MDS, for that matter)? Your post above sounds like someone looking for a flying club. Let me guess, you also strongly support training days every Tuesday and Thursday and cannot fathom taking less than a 1.5 hr lunch.
  7. Did the student attempt a pirouette out of a defensive position or was the fight neutral? If it was the former, aside from the near mid-air, I would hook him on poor BFM execution/maneuver selection.
  8. More importantly, did you get any RATRs on him?
  9. This is sage advice. I've been fortunate not to have work emails be misconstrued based on word choice or perceived emotion, but I cannot say the same for emails with the wife while deployed. It's all good now, but email in no way properly captures the correct emotions or lack thereof.
  10. Thread revival Apparently, even WE are weapons systems! Maintaining the Human Weapons System
  11. Sounds like someone needs a kitchen pass. But seriously, it has been during AEF spinup or OREs/ORI time that hanging out in the bar was most important; it's a chance to blow off (sts) some steam as well as have a chance to remember why flying fighters is so damn cool.
  12. If you're confused over the word "maximally", try the big book of hard words...Of course, I could have just said max perform the jet, but that would be improper grammar
  13. Last year, COMACC gave a short brief to the ops squadrons here. Someone asked him his thoughts on the F-15E's future. He said that at his level, the future (think 25 yrs from now) CAF fleet would be comprised of B-2s, F-22s, F-35s, F-15Es, UAVs, and B-52s. That gives you an idea of how long the Strike Eagle will be around (at least on paper).
  14. I was thinking from the macro level (ie BS vs BA) while you were answering from the micro level (what field of study). You're absolutely correct about required fields of study. The AFI is still under revision. At least it was last time I checked the TPS website, but the announcement message spells out all that you said plus some additional degrees that may be acceptable. The announcent also states to contact TPS if your degree is not listed and want to know if it is "acceptable". I would say that depends. My friend who graduated a couple yrs ago stated many only had a bachelors. It really depends on who you are competing against (obviously not something one can know while applying) when you meet the board. If everyone competing on your board has an MS but you, then that will definitely hurt chances, but conversely if no one has one, then you're on more of a level playing field. BL: don't let not having a Masters detract you from applying. You cannot win if you don't play.
  15. To answer a couple of your questions: 2) I don't know how difficult it is for someone going ROTC/OTS to get an AFIT slot right after college. I do know that at USAFA, we had about 20-25 slots. At the time, I was able to go to a civilian institution (sponsored by AFIT), kept my projected AFSC (92T0), and still went to the same UPT base I had selected originally. Talking to a more recent graduate, they no longer keep the base you chose, but you will still keep your projected AFSC...that is, unless you go non-PQ, etc. If you are a non-rated type, then you were probably already on the road to a 62 type AFSC and so it's a moot point. If not, then unless you washout of UPT/UNT, you're safe from the engineering field. 3) The only official guidance is that you must possess a BS vice BA. I would imagine a Master's of Engineering would be a beneficial thing in your records.
  16. Actually, I met Hacker at Bagram during AEF swapout. It was a call out of sorts, : but technology failed on the RMO check hence owing a drink.
  17. Can one do an RMO check over the Internet? Well, as a former WFFFFR, I owe you a drink as I don't have the ability to scan an image of mine.
  18. Oh really...prove it!
  19. Has anyone taken advantage of the in-residence IDE credit for an AFIT masters or equivalent program? I've heard that it's not held in the same esteem as a real in-residence program despite it being an AF supported option.
