  1. Totally unfair. It's not like they prevented the support guys from keeping up currency on their normal jobs (sitting in a room talking to other people, making powerpoints, and checking email).
  2. Like a FAIP, but for PME? Wouldn't want to interfere with the AF's primary mission.
  3. AMC/CC is looking at implementing a fly-only track. Probably capped at O-5 and 20 years. 4-5 year PCS cycle. Flying only. https://www.military.com/daily-news/2017/07/30/air-force-gets-creative-to-tackle-pilot-shortage.html
  4. 7500km with payload holds a lot of very populated places at risk. Alaska and Hawaii are included, along with most of Australia, all of Asia, and Eastern Europe. This latest successful test changes the calculus, and I'm a little surprised that social issues are still snagging the top headlines while the wolf howls at our door. Edit to add. If indeed the second test was as claimed, 10,000km puts everything Northwest of Oklahoma in the WEZ.
  5. For was you're talking about Clark, a Cirrus like the Academy uses would be perfect.

    Can't read posts

In the SARC thread. I can see that there are a bunch of new posts (says 22 new). When I click on the thread, I can't read any posts after nsplayer's 9 hours ago.
  7. Source? CNN cited RAND today that an estimated 4k-7k have some sort of gender dysphoria, but the true number is unknown because not all have come forward.
  8. Thanks for the tip (sts). I made contact.
  9. That sux. I agree about Mad Jack's. Mediocre compared to any of the Texas legends (Franklin, Kreuz, etc...).
  10. What about that German place right off base? Doner? That wasn't bad.
  11. Thanks! Bought in Navarre. Of note, my kids are now enthralled with gunships. We're close enough to the range that we can see and hear them practicing. One of the really little ones has even indicated that he'd rather fly the airplane with cannons than the fast and loud ones from our last base.
  12. Thanks wave for these specific recommendations. I followed your recommendations to the letter and got a $2k/yr discount on homeowners insurance.
  13. My info is 5 years out of date. Best place to stay back then was Las Ventanas Apartments. Good restaurants nearby. Short commute to base. Easy drive up into the mountains.
  14. I'm curious what mission set you think the MQ-9 does, if not CAS.
  15. You should consider getting a screen enclosure to help with the leaf issue. It has an added benefit of blocking the majority of UV, so you don't have to worry about constant reapplying sunscreen to the kids while swimming.
  16. You're wrong because you are looking at individual behaviors and assigning them to all members of a group. We need pilots (and the other actual warfighters/operators across each of our domains) in leadership to lead the fight, because they know how to fight, because they've lived and breathed fighting. You're right in that the qualities that make a great warfighter or combat problem solver don't necessarily make a good organizational leader or peacetime politician.
  17. Our #1 was a walking autopilot. Our #2 built the pattern to scale in his garage. Our anchor had posters made by the sim instructors of his epic instrument approach crashes (in the sim). The rest of us knew we were in the middle, but didn't find out actual ranking until we got our training reports at the end. Transparency breeds competition. Of course, if the AF trusted students with transparency, they wouldn't be very well conditioned to a future of AFPC controlling them from behind a dark curtain. Think of assignment night as an intro to the rest of your career.
  18. Ever since he sold his blog to Bright Mountain Media, I think he's been using ghost writers. There are 3-4 distinct writing styles, a literary voice if you will, with differing sentence structure and word choice. Tony is definitely still writing. I think one of the writers is a disgruntled retired SNCO. There's also at least one other; more sedate, but less educated than Tony.
  19. I've always thought drop night would be more fun if they just put the list of planes for that class up on a board and call the studs up in rank order. #1 gets first pick, etc... Yes, someone will be last and their plane will be the only one left, and that's OK.
  20. Proof that Climate Change is dangerous.
  21. That is not exactly correct. Complaints are definitely screened for frivolity, but a complaint against a local IG will never be transferred to that IG to self-investigate, in much the same way a local IG does not investigate a complaint against his/her wing commander boss.
  22. Wow, JQP's writing has become difficult to read. That said, I would advise the complainant to review AFI 90-301, 6.6.2.3 (and sub-paragraphs). I would also advise the complainant to consider contacting the DOD IG Hotline at https://www.dodig.mil/Hotline/, MAJCOM IG, or SAF/IGQ https://www.af.mil/Inspector-General-Complaints/ if he/she feels there is wrongdoing by the local IG office.
  23. I think the short bonus may exist to give the perception of fixing the bonus take rate. Take rate was so low...increased take rate 300%; promote now!
