  1. Must have been phenomenal at using dry erase markers.
  2. Great points but I don't think experimental is going to work. What about Extra 330lt's? Fully certified, no ejection seat or g suit to worry about, and you can do acro/form and then shoot an ils.
  3. So would treating RPA's like an actual MDS, and not treating people going to them as if it's a lesser assignment/airplane by telling them it's temporary.
  4. From the article... Those tankers are spring chickens compared to the bulk of our fleet.
  5. I partly agree, but nothing with an ejection seat. The life support/physio footprint for 500 dudes to fly just 1-2 times per month would be insane. Tones or even a fleet of T-53's like they bought for USAFA would make much more sense as a platform to build and maintain airmanship.

  7. Man that's cool.
  8. And the best part is that we're sending the worst UPT performers to the aircraft that provides the pilot with the lowest SA for deconfliction (not even a window) and no AC to watch them as a baby Copilot.
  9. Popular Mechanics ran a special today on the AF. Where are your planes and can I count them? might be a more appropriate title for the article.
  10. Big 2 on this one. I still look back on the field trip we took to Ft Worth Center half way through T-6's. Extremely eye opening.
  11. When the boldface contains optional steps, can you blame them?
  12. Hence the need to add entire AD squadrons to March and Syracuse. Doing so would boost throughput at existing FTUs to cut the bottlenecks and provide PCS options for career dev/QOL/retention.
  13. Copy. My language was not clear. Once you're already there, there's no problem with sending you out of town. They did that to us at Cannon for almost every medical need. That said, I've had assignments to good spots turned down for lack of 'local' specialists, even when I've known they exist. Due to the high human involvement, EFMP becomes a very individualized process, and not always for the better if the gaining unit doesn't want to go to the trouble of doing a little research. EDIT: We eventually left Cannon due to EFMP. It's not all bad.
  14. B model's IOC.
  15. #1 and #2 from their class of T-1's I guess.
  16. Not true. There must be a provider that takes tricare close enough to being in the vicinity of the assignment that they won't need to send you TDY to get care. That provider must also have openings. The find a provider page on the triwest website is your best friend. Get with your gaining EFMP office and provide them a list of providers at that location that suit your needs. When they coord it with the gaining base med grp, it'll give them ammo to say yes. CAUTION: Many of these offices are overworked and may just say no if there isn't the required specialist at the MTF.
  17. Welcome back Liquid. I'm curious to hear your opinion. If you were CSAF for a day, how would you realign the RPA enterprise? Would AFSOC be a better fit, either as lead MAJCOM or for the entirety of the enterprise? Would it do better under some sort of ISR/armed ISR specific hybrid command modeled after the AFGSC or Cyber moves? Where would you put them and what would be the first thing you'd do to 'fix' the issues?
  18. AFGSC getting a 4-star billet. Gen Robin Rand announced as new CC.
  19. EN has fewer classes per year.
  20. Are your posts an attempt to break the stereotype?
  21. Spitballing here. Perhaps the answer would be short range jamming equipment tuned to the drone control/vid freqs on firefighting aircraft. Or the manufacturers could integrate a "go home" signal that could be broadcast from emergency responders to shut them down, similar to the halo they integrated into the firmware that keeps them from flying around DC now. I see the second option being more viable and likely as this technology develops.
  22. All valid points. My only counter would be that all of the UPT-directs from the last round are back in manned aircraft, unless they volunteered to stay, and the promise wasn't written into their ADSC's either.
  23. Hey Roger, there's actually a whole subforum on this site dedicated to answering your question. Anyway, here's the short answer to what you need to have the "right stuff" to be a military pilot. 1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Preferable with a good GPA. 2. Meet all the medical requirements to be a military pilot, and be in good physical shape. 3. A good attitude and tenacity to get through the commissioning and and pilot selection process. 4. Don't make stupid or criminal choices that will jeopardize your chances. Take those four elements and add in a solid dose of luck and timing, and you've got a pretty good chance. May the odds be ever in your favor.
  24. See af.mil article below. Emphasis added.
  25. Is this BODN or the comments section on a CNN plane crash article?
