  1. Tried the pickles. It was good. They cook much longer than the jalapenos. Also, I've done the fresh jalapeno pepper thing. Be prepared for it to be much spicier than the jalapeno nacho slices.
  2. You can (could?) buy them on Maxwell. Fun way to get through SOS.
  3. 1. Figure out the congressionally mandated reason your base/wing exists and do that extremely well. Everything else is secondary (even if you work support). 2. Provide direction and then trust the people and decentralize as many of the day-to-day decisions as possible. Encourage your subordinates to do the same for "their" people. 3. Know your people. Remember, everyone down to the lowest ranked Airman has a story and try to learn some of those stories. Mentor them in chasing their dreams and solving their problems for their own good and the good of the AF. 4. See below... Edited to add: Don't be the "good idea fairy." It's a proven path to failure. Every good idea will have negative consequences to somebody and often for almost everybody. Accept that and willfully choose the bads along with the goods. These decisions will have more impact on the culture of your organization than almost anything else.

  5. Mikey Weinstein vs. Christian USAFA Cadets
  6. I didn't realize until you posted this just how many callsigns are actually just items you can buy at Home Depot: Tool, Toolbox, Hammer, Knife, Torch, Caulk, Rose, Grill, Padlock, Brick, Blade, Saw, Drill, Screw, Vise, Shovel, Hoe, Rebar, Board, Glue, and so many others. It's basically a callsign superstore.
  7. Someone misses flying fighters and thinks he's funny. He's not.
  8. If I was either one of those guys, I would have extremely large copies of every one of those photos framed in my bar.
  9. Great idea. This would fix many, many problems.

    Mustache March

While on the topic - extracted from Tony's blog, and very well said:
  12. This video was produced a few years ago on Ramstein.

    Gun Talk

Disagree. Yes, takedown is strange. But once you get it down, it's fast, easy, and requires no tools. There are a few good youtube videos that show the required TTP's.

  16. Grandfather clause has been signed into law. I just love how the media is calling it a "boost to military retirement" or an "increase in military benefits." /sarcasm
  17. And where is this individual in your chain of command?
  18. So when you said "bacon flavored seasoning" what you meant was.......bacon?
  19. So, you're saying there's no travel restriction in CONUS, but if you're under 26 and going more than 175 miles on the weekend you have to tell your boss and document your plan. Also, if you want to go to Mexico, you have to tell your boss and comply with any other restrictions on travel to Mexico. And the problem is?
  20. Be warned. The bacon jalapeno corn is not good the next day like normal jalapeno corn is.
  21. It is NOT a fast process, but it works. Good luck.
  22. Here's the path: vMPF > Self Service Applications > Assignments > Exceptional Family Member Program Application Has the Laughlin EFMP coordinator already approved your inbound PCS with sufficient medical support? You might be out of luck, or have to provide additional medical information if so.
  23. I preheated my normal amount of corn oil (1/4 solo cup) and then added 2 slices of raw bacon that was cut into 1/2" pieces. I let it cook for about one minute and 9 seconds before adding 1/4-1/2 solo cup of jalapenos (no juice - vary the amount for desired spice level). As per usual, I waited for the water in the peppers to sizzle away and added 1 full solo cup of corn when the sound died down. Sea salt on the completed corn. Worked great and was pretty spicy. Edited to add: next time I'm going to reduce the amount of oil to offset the fat in the bacon. No real problems, but I like my corn fluffier and find that less oil helps.
