  1. Be warned. The bacon jalapeno corn is not good the next day like normal jalapeno corn is.
  2. It is NOT a fast process, but it works. Good luck.
  3. Here's the path: vMPF > Self Service Applications > Assignments > Exceptional Family Member Program Application Has the Laughlin EFMP coordinator already approved your inbound PCS with sufficient medical support? You might be out of luck, or have to provide additional medical information if so.
  4. I preheated my normal amount of corn oil (1/4 solo cup) and then added 2 slices of raw bacon that was cut into 1/2" pieces. I let it cook for about one minute and 9 seconds before adding 1/4-1/2 solo cup of jalapenos (no juice - vary the amount for desired spice level). As per usual, I waited for the water in the peppers to sizzle away and added 1 full solo cup of corn when the sound died down. Sea salt on the completed corn. Worked great and was pretty spicy. Edited to add: next time I'm going to reduce the amount of oil to offset the fat in the bacon. No real problems, but I like my corn fluffier and find that less oil helps.
  5. It is a good machine. Not quite as heavy duty as the $1000+ theater units, but not bad at all for home use. I tried numerous other methods, but nothing but this really worked. Just made my first batch of infidel corn. It's good. Really good. Now my house smells like bacon and jalapenos.
  6. One year, my wife got me a popcorn machine from Amazon for father's day. Is was <$200. Now my kids are all addicted to jalapeno corn and can even make it themselves. Our home recipe is simple: 1/4 solo cup corn oil and 1/4 solo cup jalapenos, cook until the sound drops off in volume (indicates the water in the jalapeno slices has cooked off), add 1 full solo cup of kernels, pop 'em all, add a generous amount of sea salt to taste. That's it, and it beats the stuff the Lt's make at work - their corn always has too much oil which makes it tough and chewy. Edited to add: here's my home machine.
  7. C-5 lost pressure over Atlantic. Diverted safely.
  8. Half-way through now. He's a good writer and it's fascinating to see behind the curtain.
  9. Looks like there may be an opening for a Reservist Major at MacDill... In all seriousness though, this is exactly the kind of press the AF doesn't need right now. link

  11. Late 80's? That puts him flying fighters in which conflicts: Korea, Vietnam, possibly even WWII? I'm sure his stories were a real snoozefest for anyone not interested in our heritage of aerial warfare. You're probably right that one of his precious few remaining hours was wasted.
  12. 1. Watch a couple of high-rated TED talks and model your presentation (obviously not content) off of them. 2. Limit yourself to 15 minutes. (edited to add: don't necessarily use 15 minutes, but it's a good benchmark for attention spans. Make it long enough to give them the honor, respect, and dignity they deserve and not one second longer) 3. Make it personal to the graduates with a focus on their next assignment. 4. Include a well-told story with a situation that each graduate could picture themselves in (and later tell their parents "that could be me in a few months") 5. If you find yourself wandering, stop talking, pause, thank them and their families for their choice to serve with all the associated sacrifice, and sit down.

  21. Unbelievable, yet so believable. There are some excellent gems in that article. Although the writer doesn't understand our culture, he makes some great points about the drawbacks of PCS churn. Also, probably belongs in this
