  1. Army looking to get new uniform.
  2. Yes. Higher-level stan eval can Q3 any crew member for safety of flight and a few select other things. Just like the A-code can refuse them passage for making threatening remarks.

The JR Carbine 9MM goes for around $500-$550 new from gun shops. It is not rated for +P. Not a bad toy, but not worth the $750 you're asking for the bike.
  4. I'm surprised this deadly snowstorm from last week hasn't received much media attention. It is a nice break from politics. Article Picture from Ellsworth AFB

Except a lake, and places to go hiking/camping/hunting. Also, the Golden Corral in Clovis was closed down years ago.
  6. If you're looking at South/Central America, Costa Rica would be my #1 pick for an expat/holiday/bugout location. Beautiful, relatively safe and secure vs all the other options, and it has a good economy that's not completely dependent on the drug trade.
  7. If I remember right, if you give up your citizenship, you lose your military retirement.
  8. All I know is that if the nation ever does crumble, California will be the new North Korea.
  9. Any whispers or rumint on if the next class will be going?
  10. Loved the early Jack Ryan books. As crazy as it seems now, they were one of my earliest inspirations for military service. RIP
  11. Because our military culture has been systematically dismantled and replaced with something that just feels fake and very generic. Because appearances are valued over outcomes. Because of the felt instability from years of broken promises, and watching those who we should have felt sorry for leave and flourish. Because of arbitrary leadership decisions that degrade the quality of life for our families. Because of a whole host of other factors we work through every day that are unique to our organizational culture. Does that mean there aren't good things? Obviously not. But there's certainly a lot we could do better.
  12. Negative. Sarcasm. Check fire. I can see how you may have misread my intent because I worded my post poorly. My post was not a dig on our culture. It was commentary on those who are external to our culture, seize on a single element, and then take offense. It was also meant to highlight leadership policies that presuppose offense and generate a blanket restriction without considering second and third order effects.
  13. So if, for example, you calculate your rotate speed at 69 knots, must you now rotate at 70? Will all briefings now be 10 minutes to avoid offending someone by falling in the 6-9 minute range? We should also probably ban the ILS into KBQK. 6 and 9 are just numbers and they happen to comprise 20% of available digits. It would be very difficult to operate with only 80% of digits for those of us having jobs involving numbers merely to avoid possibly offending those who sexualize every comment and are then offended by their own interpretation. Sometimes this feels like high school.

The story, as told, sounds inexcusable. That said, there are two sides to every story and a 4 am Sunday wakeup with SF in tow indicates there was more to this story than has been told here.

Anyone seen "Black Eagle" the new Koran top gun knockoff on Netflix?
  17. Initial reporting says 10 shot (8 civilians and 2 police) and 3 shooters. Does not say any are fatal. https://www.washingto...b549_story.html
  18. To the OP, try to enjoy the nice break before IFS/UPT/career flying. Go on a cruise, sit on a beach, go fly some acro, spend more than a few days with family. If you can't stop yourself from doing something to prepare, here's a few options. You can find anything with an AFI or AFM at the beginning at www.e-publishing.af.mil with the search bar on the right side. 1. Boldface/ops limits - as stated, start working on them about a month before, to the point where you can write and say them perfectly and without hesitation. 2. AFI 11-202V3 - Browse, but don't study too deeply. The things in there that will be important later involve when you can or cannot fly due to you, your situation, or the weather. 3. AFMAN 11-217V1 - Again, browse, but don't study. Look for bold italicized stuff. 4. Do some fun flying at your local airport in a variety of planes and gliders. Get exposed to different systems, avionics, and techniques. Don't do it to build hours or qualify for something specific. Do it to make yourself a better and more adaptable aviator. If you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong. Don't forget that all of these things are a secondary priority to taking care of your family and yourself. You're about to start an interesting journey where your own priorities will often be secondary to the needs of the nation, the Air Force, and your many bosses. Good luck

  20. The definition was 'reshaped' late last year. They're talking about Runner's World.
  21. So just offer 10 days of 'marriage leave' or 'honeymoon leave' to anybody that gets married, regardless of orientation. I'm sure there are lots of hetero couples that would like to travel home for their weddings to be married in the presence of friends and family. After all, if we're striving for equality, shouldn't the rules apply to everyone?

  23. Were those the options you were hoping for? I didn't know all those were open to nav's.
