  1. Regarding the new paint schemes: The new scheme has half as many colors and weighs less, theoretically saving money. (Until management blows it (sts) on something else.) [slightly related topic: Does anyone know if the new carbon based planes need to be painted for UV protection or something like that?]
  2. Is this typical for airline-Guard guys?
  3. Over UNICOM: "If you taxi with yo' flaps down, put yo' hand down."
  4. How long is the life support tech school? What's its AFSC?
  5. Just curious, but does the TSP program match any percentage of your contribution?
  6. I did what Deuce did as well. Well balanced funds and the lowest operating costs in the market are the main selling points Vanguard Target Fund
  7. Damn, I'm going to BMT five months too late.
  8. When my dad was deployed to Kunsan, he took tape recordings of him reading me and my brother's favorite books out loud. Then he'd usually add some other conversational stuff at the end, and send us the tape back home. This assumes your household still has a tape player. You could record a Wave audiofile on your computer and email it instead. Good luck. [ 10. January 2007, 11:11: Message edited by: C-130 Hopeful ]
  9. My FBO purchased a 172 from ERAU a few months ago. Guess who called early one morning a few days ago wanting to buy a plane back?
  10. FWIW, all Delta crews are still CAT III certified, unless they have less than 100 hours on the airframe. [ 30. December 2006, 13:48: Message edited by: C-130 Hopeful ]

  14. You could also look into buying a block of time, i.e. $700 worth of time. At least where I fly out of, the planes are cheaper per hour if you buy the time in blocks like that. But, being a fellow college kid, I understand that you might not have a couple hundred dollars to put down. Best of luck.
  15. My dad is a big fan on the C-130 and I would like to buy him a book about the Herk (history, missions, stories etc) for his birthday. Any good suggestions? Thanks for the help.
  16. I searched already. I heard that hard contacts (in comparison to soft contacts) slow the rate at which your diopter becomes more negative. Is there any validity to this? Thanks, C-130 Hopeful [ 21. September 2006, 14:20: Message edited by: C-130 Hopeful ]
  17. "My Secret War" (Richard Drury), again "Skunk Works" (Ben Rich, Leo Janos) "Born to Fly" (Shane Osborn) "Fighter Wing: A Guided Tour of an Air Force Combat Wing" (Tom Clancy) "Eye of the Viper: The Making of an F-16 Pilot" (Peter Aleshire), very well written and interesting [ 15.
