  1. A Brony SUPT squadron at Vance? What are they putting in the water there? https://www.dailydot.com/lol/air-force-bronies-my-little-pony-patch/
  2. Now to add even more confusion. Orientation flights are different than incentive flights. Orientation flight = an hour or so in a CAP 172/182 with a CAP instructor - You're only limited to 4 hours I think. At least it's how it was at my Det. Incintive flight = military aircraft
  3. Sounds like my 2nd PAS when I was in ROTC....
  4. I would have posted this in the Future Raptor Pilot thread, but it's closed. This guy might have been his roommate. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/tenacious-summer-analyst-applicant-got-laughed-at-by-everyone-else-on-wall-street.html
  5. I was thinking the same thing. When I hear the National Anthem at an event, I don't want the most famous person they could get singing it (who, if they're part of the Hollywood/LA crowd is probably anti-American commie scum anyways), I want it to sound damn good and sung by someone who cares.
  6. Glad you're ok. What caused it?
  7. https://leftos.com/bl...pster-wtf-video From the land of fruits and nuts!
  8. I read his book, Sled Driver. I checked it out from my school library and went to my car to put it up and eat lunch. I decided to read one page of it and I found myself done reading it about two hour later, sitting in the passenger seat of my car still in the parking lot with goosebumps. It was hands down one of the best books I have ever read. He has such a knack for taking those memories and retelling them with all the details that you would have to be there to notice. Walter also came and spoke to my school and although I didn't get to catch his whole talk, it really put a lot of what Mr. Shul talked about in the book into perspective. The whole experience is amazing. I'm actually considering plopping down the $300-400 for the book before I can't get one for good.
  9. The last AOPA e-newsletter had a pretty cool story, it looks like he did IFS also. Maybe he was some of you guys' IP. https://www.aopa.org/training/articles/2012/120119fly-like-a-fighter-peek-into-space.html Makes me wish I did some things different in my life so I could do it also.
  10. You order and replace it yourself; it's really easy.
  11. They will last a long, long time with proper care. You will probably have to replace the gel ear cups after about 300hrs (that's how long mine lasted- $30), maybe replace the mic wind fuzzy thing ($10), and if anything else is wrong, I understand they have a 5 year warranty. I ended up selling mine for a higher end headset before I got to test the warranty though.
  12. The problem is clearly the size of the A340. It's obviously way too large for that runway, much less the airport. I mean, for Christ's sake, the landing gear is over the edge of the runway, not to mention it retracts into the wing like the Dash/Q400 aircraft. Now that Fox News gave me an animation, the A340 is so much larger than the 777, I don't think the pilots would feel it, maybe a bump on takeoff. A quick Google Earth calculation gave the LH plane about 6700' till the offending a/c. From the NY Post link "The FAA rated the incident a “Category C” runway incursion, and says “there was ample time and/or distance to avoid a collision.” More media sensationalism. wtf news media?
  13. I taught using the Complete Private Pilot by ASA because it was cheap. I liked it too. <---my fav self teaching book https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Private-Pilot/dp/1560276118/ref=dp_ob_title_bk This is the industry standard though. It's a little more expensive, but you can get a cheap used copy. https://www.amazon.co...25529242&sr=8-2 Oh and I almost forgot. The books published by the FAA are free and they are really good also. Just google "Airplane Flying Handbook" and "Pilot Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge"
  14. I can't quote from a reg, but I'm 99% certain it's actual flight time.
