Anyone have any information/reviews of Colt or S&W 1917's? I've been looking for a classic double/single action revolver and the local shops have a couple around, but don't know much about them.
  2. reminds me of this:
  3. that works well if you also have decent internet...like the AF would provide that
  4. I wish they would show the games on real TV channels (aka ones I can get while TDY)...I hate internet radio delay!
  5. Research into the causes of CTE point to the skaters stopping from 25-30mph causing minor brain trauma that can add up over time. My use of "proven" may be premature, but research is finding CTE in more and more athletes that recorded few to no concussions in their career. It's scary because the players of the 60's 70's and 80's (when pro sports started getting faster and more violent) are showing a lot of symptoms (memory loss, dementia) at a really early age.
  6. Are you watching the correct hit? Here is the NHL video: bit.ly/JmRvse As you can see, When Hossa turned, he had the puck poked out. More than 2 seconds later, with Torres still turning into Hossa and trying to get a one handed poke at the puck, Torres makes the hit. Obviously Torres can't get the hint as there are 5 other examples where the league told him he's wrong with fines and suspensions for similar hits. Look up CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy) and you'll see why they want to outlaw these types of hits. Hell, even making a hockey stop has proven to cause brain damage in players and refs. If you want to see players (even high school players) healthy after their playing days are over, you'd see this in a different light.
  7. Even Shanabad can see that it was a dirty hit and he's a dirty player. Hossa or not, those hits have no place in hockey. Hit shoulder to shoulder.
  8. While you're busy with the shoe, I'll take the LT
  9. If he stayed on the ice he wouldn't have hit the head.
  10. But leaving your feet with a hit to the head is not. In fact, it's being emphasized this season. I agree with finishing, but you must remain on the ice.
  11. He needs to spend the next year in a dark room eating oatmeal...
  12. Actually, they only charge $47 but it would be impolite to ask for change

  14. If this is followed, the teachers will spend all their time filling out paperwork instead of prepping for actually teaching. I cannot tell you how much a teacher hears in the hallway walking to a class. Most of the time, a simple "knock it off" stops what can be stopped. All this paperwork is part of the reason I got out of teaching...but then again, I became a pilot with just as much, if not more, paperwork.
  15. The more I see things like this and the things I saw when I was a high school teacher, the more the bad Mike Judge movie "Idiocracy" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy) looks like the vision of the future.
  16. can we claim this as a $1bil cost savings by Big Blue over the span of the deal and keep (some more of) our planes?
  17. If you have several secondary sources and are sure there are plenty of others here that can vouch, why do you have to ask if a RUMOR you heard is true? Just wondering
  18. I looked at a half dozen from my class and the only change was a 2 or 1 in the rank and the names.
  19. if she was a dude and a bag wearer she wouldn't have been in past 2000 because she didn't have her boxes checked, sts
  20. He will get a medal and an OPR bullet that will allow him to promote BTZ
  21. I was thinking the same thing
  22. You put flaps up to minimize lift and put as much weight on the landing gear as possible as to not skid the tires. Brakes stop the airplane, not drag. For the 60 KIAS, that BF (if i remember correctly) is for engine failure sufficient rwy remaining to land. 60 KIAS will set up for a landing attitude withe the flaps being lowered to the LDG position.
