That is the new ceremonial uniform. Only honor guard and the like use it. Its a piece of shit that costs way too much and looks like hell cause it was made by a costume maker not a clothing maker. Notice the incorrect "US" for the enlisted guy? Thats because they wanted it embroidered rather than pin on and it would be way too much work to change.

I have the S&W model of that. I love it for plinking esp with the mag with the extended grip. Never had a problem. I had trouble finding a good holster for it though, let me know what you come up with

I don't know the situation of how it came to be out, but back when I started UPT two years ago out bios were on a shared drive that all studs had access to. Also available were our official photos and hero shots. I know a couple wx days where we were sitting around a computer going thru peoples pics and having a good laugh.

But I like the part right before that, "During his visits to Ubon over the past year he had never referred to my breach of military standards, just seemed rather amused at the variety of 'staches sported by many of the troops." Let them act amuck when they are laying it all out when it hurts nothing and it adds to getting shit done.

I did mine in the right seat...was a bit weird looking over at airspeed and heading, but you learn to trim, control and move the throttle with the "correct" hands. Technique only

Best investment I made was about 15 hours in a DA-20 prior to getting there learning the sight picture for landing, level flight, and steep turns. Just enough to learn the plane and still be moldable to the "new" way of doing things. Also, doing a bit of studying on general PPL type studying allows you to understand the classes (a lot) better than going in there cold.

Its not that you won't have the time, its just that if you spend all your time studying (either for CSO stuff or your masters) you will go schizo. You need the mindless COD time or the time going to the bar with the guys and just letting off steam and talking smack. There is plenty of time to get the masters, focus on training now.

They sent me an email denying me when I sent a copy of my LES (with pay/personal info blacked out per their FAQ). I "contacted" them about it, we'll see where it goes.
-
If you read their FAQ you can also send in an LES: "You may submit a copy of your Military/Government ID or a copy of your pay stub (please feel free to black out any unnecessary information. We just need to see your name and who you work for)."

Shiner Rating: 8.2 Reason: It was smooth, cold and was the last one of the night on Saturday. It put me to bed and didn't give me (too bad) a hangover.

They are trying to make you feel so stupid while riding that you'll just stop, then all risk is gone due to the reflective belts.

Hasn't filtered in here, but we can't wear any patch that is not "approved", to include the -38 or Tone pocket patch.

Should Drinking Age for Military Personnel Be Lowered to 18?
Getzen2 replied to ClearedHot's topic in Squadron Bar
Every argument here is about the legal driving limit. Here is what I've thought would work and make both parties happy. Make the legal drinking age 18, but keep the zero tolerance on driving till 21. If you want to drink at 18, hang up the keys. This would promote a habit pattern that would associate drinking with finding a way home. It would also keep the feds happy because the "kids" won't be on the federal roads with a beer in them till 21. -
[shoe]the reg says that you are to render a salute and verbal greeting. when this happens to me I stop and give that young airman a good chewing for as long as I have time for![/shoe] This bothers me, but more that the airman is shy rather than disrespectful. Normally they see you and are intimidated by the rank, in basic they are taught to fear officers. It just takes a couple times giving them a greeting "in return" for them to get the clue.

These guys are part of The Air Force Band:AF Band The bands program is larger than just the ceremonial/concert band. They are part of heritage along with the big bands a la Maj. Glenn Miller. There are also groups that serve as dinner entertainment along the lines of solo piano and jazz combos. Each area has an active duty band as well as an ANG band that is to be utilized for any official gathering.

AMS (Academy of Military Science) Questions
Getzen2 replied to a topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
I would defiantly bring a personal laptop and printer so long as they are small. The supplied computer and printer (there was only one when I was there) were ok for most people. However, there were a few that had access and lost it during the time as well as some that never got computer access at all. Things have most likely improved due to our constant complaints about the computer situation but due to the short nature of AMS, if you do encounter difficulties having a backup plan always helps. Tell people to take it easy on printing things while you are there as well, we got it handed to us pretty good for using way too much ink printing things that were unnecessary. -
AMS (Academy of Military Science) Questions
Getzen2 replied to a topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
In my class they were allowed if they had it and they had to buy their own OC rank to wear. However, what uniform you wear to the banquet should be the least of your worries right now. I made it simple and wore the semi-formal while I was there. -
